<p>Recently, Siddique’s security had been upgraded to the ‘Y’ category following a threat he received a few weeks prior, media reports suggest.</p>

<p>Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)&nbsp;leader Kirit Somaiya said, "The government should make a special team and investigate this. It seems to be a huge conspiracy. Strict action should be taken."</p>

<p>Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey questioned the government’s ability to protect citizens. He said, "If former MLAs are not safe in our city Mumbai, if leaders of the government are not safe then how will this government protect the common people? If they cannot keep their MLAs and former ministers safe then Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis should resign. He has no right to continue as the Home Minister. Eknath Shinde has no right to continue as the CM of the state."</p>

<p>According to the police, three personnel were deployed for Siddique's security but he was not under any categorised security protection.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Crime Branch also revealed that a total of six rounds of bullets were fired at Siddique, out of which three hit him.&nbsp;The three accused shooters had done recce of Siddique's house and office premises, and they were in Mumbai for a few months to keep an eye on him.</p>

<p>The police had earlier arrested the two accused—Karnail Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh. While Singh has been sent into police custody, Kashyap has claimed that he is a minor, prompting the court to order an ossification test.</p>

He often threw parties in which&nbsp;several A-listers gathered and socialised. In one such party in 2013,&nbsp;Siddique ended the long-standing feud between actors Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.</p>

<p>The rift between the two Khans had started&nbsp;in 2008 after an argument at Katrina Kaif's birthday bash. The two stars avoided each other for nearly five years due to the feud.</p>

<p>The feud finally ended at Siddique's iftar party on April 17, 2013. At the time, Siddique was serving as an MLA from Bandra West constituency. At the gathering, Siddique is said to have strategically seated Shah Rukh Khan next to Salman Khan's father, Salim Khan. This was done to ensure the two stars came face-to-face.</p>

<p>Indian politician and former minister in the state of Maharashtra, Baba Siddique, was shot dead by three men in Mumbai's Bandra on Saturday (Oct 12). Police arrested two of the assailants, while the third is still on the run.</p>

<p>The two arrested assailants,&nbsp;identified as&nbsp;Karnail Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, claimed during interrogation that they&nbsp;belonged to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to media reports on Sunday. The third accused has been identified and will be arrested soon, said sources.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>A report by NDTV said that the police were probing the murder case from two angles,&nbsp;one involving the Bishnoi gang and the other related to&nbsp;a slum rehabilitation case.</p>

<h2><strong>A viral Facebook post</strong></h2>

<p>Hours after the above claim, a Facebook post by a purported Lawrence Bishnoi gang member claimed that they targeted Siddique&nbsp;because of his close ties to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and the alleged links to underworld figures like Dawood Ibrahim.</p>

<p>However, the police are verifying the authenticity of this Facebook post.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Siddique, 66, was a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-Ajit Pawar faction. He was a member of the Congress and had&nbsp;resigned from the party earlier this year. He was known to be close to several Bollywood stars.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The NDTV report further said that the involvement of the Bishnoi gang (in Baba Siddique's murder) was suspected due to the NCP leader's proximity to Salman Khan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Siddique did not report&nbsp;any threat from the Bishnoi gang in the past, the police said.</p>

A report by NDTV said that the police were probing the murder case from two angles, one involving the Bishnoi gang and the other related to a slum rehabilitation case. <p>In a shocking turn of events, Indian politician Baba Siddique was shot dead by three men in Mumbai's Bandra.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Saturday (Oct 12) night, Siddique was stepping out of his son Zeeshan's office when he was shot. He was quickly taken to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Siddique was a renowned personality and was known for his close connections with Bollywood celebrities such as Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Shah Rukh Khan among others. Soon after Siddique's death, several celebrities including actors Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt,&nbsp;and Shilpa Shetty visited the hospital late at night.&nbsp;</p>

In a shocking turn of events, Indian politician Baba Siddique was shot dead by three men in Mumbai's Bandra. On Saturday (Oct 12) night, Siddique was stepping out of his son Zeeshan's office when he was shot. He was quickly taken to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Siddique was a renowned personality and was known for his close connections with Bollywood celebrities such as Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Shah Rukh Khan among others. Soon after Siddique's death, several celebrities including actors Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Shilpa Shetty visited the hospital late at night. In a video shared by the paparazzi, the actress was visibly emotional as she was leaving the hospital in Mumbai. As per reports, Salman cancelled the shoot of his reality show Big Boss after he learned about the politician's death. He was also at the hospital last night. The perpetrators of this horrific crime must be brought to justice.'' Who was Baba Siddique? Siddique, 66, was a political leader and has been active in Maharashtra's politics for decades. Apart from politics, he was known for his social work and close connection with Bollywood stars. He's known for his famous iftar parties, attended by the who's who of the industry.
