The following ruling mandated Apple to allow developers to incorporate links and buttons redirecting users to alternative payment methods.

However, Epic's recent dispute suggests that Apple's implementation of new regulations and a 27 per cent fee renders these links ineffective, prompting accusations of contempt.

In their filing, the collective of technology companies expressed concerns over Apple's actions, which they argue would boost the company's high commissions and restrict competition.

By limiting developers' communication channels with users regarding payment options, Apple allegedly creates tough barriers to competition and artificially inflates prices, impacting both consumers and developers.

The ending of legal disputes between Epic Games and Apple reached a significant juncture in January when the US Supreme Court opted not to hear Apple's appeal against the injunction.

The iOS app was first made available by its creators on February 17 and since then has been installed around 2,000 times in the testing phase, as per app intelligence firm data.ai.

In the micro-blogging site Twitter, when users create a post they are asked “What's happening?" whereas, in Bluesky, the message that pops up is “What’s up?". 
 
As per reports, the users of Bluesky have been given the ability to mute, block and share accounts. However, advanced tools like adding accounts to a list are still not available on the app. The app also gives the suggestion of "who to follow" and has the classic feed where all the recent updates from the accounts followed can be scrolled. 
 
"Another tab lets you check on your notifications, including likes, reposts, follows and replies, also much like Twitter. There are no DMs," as per the report. Similar to features available on Twitter, users can search and follow other accounts and check their updates in their Home timeline. The user profiles will feature a bio, background, profile picture and metrics.

“Thus, Apple prohibits app developers to include a button/link in their apps which take/steer the user to a third party payment processing solution other than Apple’s IAP (in-app purchase). This prima facie results in denial of market access for the potential app distributors/app store developers in violation of competition norms,” the order read.

The Commission, in its order, has stated that it has taken a prima facie view that Apple has violated provisions of Section 4 of the Competition Act, which deals with the abuse of a dominant position by an enterprise.

It has directed the Director-General to open an investigation into the company, a report for which needs to be submitted within 60 days of the order.

Notably, the tech company is facing similar charges in other countries, including EU and UK.&nbsp;

The judge ordered Apple to loosen control of its App Store payment options, but said Epic failed to prove any antitrust violations.

Epic last month filed its own appeal.

"We will fight on", Epic chief executive Tim Sweeney tweeted when the company confirmed its plan to contest the verdict.

Apple said in the days after the ruling by Gonzalez-Rogers that it was "very happy" with the decision but had left open the door to appeal.

The companies had opted for a so-called bench trial in which a judge rather that a jury hears the evidence and decides on a verdict.

Epic launched the case aiming to break Apple's grip on the App Store, accusing the iPhone maker of acting like a monopoly in its shop for digital goods or services.

"For me, it is a win for Apple in that the judge clearly said they are not engaging in monopolistic behavior," Creative Strategies analyst Carolina Milanesi said after the verdict.

"I don't think it is a problem for Apple from a revenue perspective."

The judge barred Apple from prohibiting developers from including in their apps "external links or other calls to action that direct customers to purchasing mechanisms."

Apple can still mandate that its payment systems is used for in-app transactions.

Critics warn of Apple, Google 'chokepoint' repression

A US judge on Friday ordered Apple to loosen control over its App Store payment system, a blow to the global tech giant sparked by its anti-trust battle with Fortnite maker Epic Games.

In a ruling with significant potential to alter the digital economy, Apple will no longer be allowed to force developers to use its tightly-controlled sales tool.

It's a change loudly demanded by app producers because of the up to 30 percent commission on purchases, however the judge also ruled that Epic had not proved its claim of illegal monopoly -- which prompted a sigh of relief from Apple.

Lawsuits, rules and probes have piled up for the iPhone maker, but it was noncommittal about challenging the ruling and instead lauded the anti-trust portion by saying: "We consider this a huge win for Apple."

Epic for its part branded the judgement as essentially a loss for app developers who rely on the App Store in the multi-billion-dollar mobile gaming industry, and for consumers.

"We will fight on," Epic CEO Tim Sweeney tweeted, and a company spokesperson later confirmed they would appeal.

Friday's order says Apple is permanently barred from prohibiting developers from including in their apps "external links or other calls to action that direct customers to purchasing mechanisms."

"Apple enjoys considerable market share of over 55 percent and extraordinarily high profit margins... (but) Success is not illegal," California federal Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers wrote.&nbsp;

"Epic Games failed in its burden to demonstrate Apple is an illegal monopolist," she added.

The decision noted that Apple violated California's laws against unfair competition, however.

The two firms clashed in a lawsuit over whether Apple has the right to set ground rules, control payment systems and kick out apps from its marketplace that fail to comply.

Also at stake was Apple's slice of revenue from iPhone apps of as much as 30 percent.

Apple booted Fortnite from its online mobile marketplace after Epic released an update that dodged revenue sharing with the iPhone maker.

A win for Apple?

However, even before Friday's decision Apple started to cede ground on its App Store dominance, including in an agreement with Japanese regulators.

Epic`s decision all but assured its account would be terminated, the step Apple took Friday.
