<p>Nibi was an orphan beaver baby when she was rescued by Newhouse Wildlife Rescue. She became a sensation over the years at the rescue centre with her friendly behaviour and cute antics. She even started building dams indoors with twigs at the rescue centre: after all, she's a beaver, right?</p>

<p>But where does she belong, under human care, or in the wild? She hasn't seen a winter yet and will have to be released into the wild if she's to survive the vagaries of weather. That's one school of thought, anyway. But others feel that she may not be able to survive in the wild.</p>

<p>It is known that animals in captivity when released back into the wild, have a low survival chance. Sometimes, exposure to areas larger than their cages or enclosures&nbsp;makes it difficult for them to navigate, often leading their hearts to exert too much, sometimes with fatal consequences. The other causes of death are predators, infections and the weather</p>

<h2><strong>The court battle over Nibi the beaver</strong></h2>

<p>On Tuesday (Oct 1), Newhouse Rescue managed to get an injunction from the release of Nibi into the wild. The rescue house and some 25,000 others who signed online petitions want her to stay with her caregivers. Even Governor Maura Healey appeared to be favouring Nibi to stay with the rescuers, but being a protected species, Nibi will have to eventually abide by the laws of the land.</p>

<p>Her fate will be decided on Friday when a court reviews the case filed by the rescue house against MassWildlife, the wildlife agency of the eastern US state.</p>

<p>The wild cat P22 is reportedly around 12 years old and is famous for roaming through residential areas. The male feline has been captured on CCTV frequently but his recent "agitated" behaviour&nbsp;is new and had alarmed the authorities.</p>

<p>On Monday, Fish and Wildlife Department officers rang the bell at Sarah Picchi, a Los Feliz resident's house, &nbsp;and informed her "You have a lion in your back yard".</p>

<p>Talking to Los Angeles Times, Pichi revealed that the lion was tranquilised on Monday morning.</p>

<p>A modern miracle just took place in Oklahoma, United States. A dog was recently born with six legs, and much to the doctors' shock, the animal is surviving against all odds.<br />

The "miracle" was shared by Neel Veterinary Hospital on Facebook, where the dog was born. In the Facebook post, it was explained how the puppy, whose name is Skipper, was able to survive for longer than other dogs who are born with the same issue.<br />

The dog suffers a disorder called "monocephalus dipygus", which explains the 6 legs.</p>

<p>“You might notice she looks a little different - 6 legs! She has a type of congenital conjoining disorders called monocephalus dipygus and monocephalus rachipagus dibrachius tetrapus which simply means she has 1 head and chest cavity but 2 pelvic regions, 2 lower urinary tracts, 2 reproductive systems, 2 tails and 6 legs among other things,” the Facebook post said.<br />

The dog though is in a healthy condition with her organs in great shape.</p>

<p>“Positively, her organs appear to be in great shape, she is peeing and pooping, and is very strong! She nurses well and is growing appropriately so far. All of her legs move and respond to stimulus just like a normal puppy,” the post added.<br />

But it's not all sunny from here on. The dog may need physical therapy to maintain mobility and may need assistance later on in life.</p>

<p>In the Facebook post, the hospital added how they intend to study her condition in-depth to bring relief to her. ''She is doing well at home now'', the post added.</p>
