Interestingly, Peters won the Diamond League finale in Brussels last year, pushing Neeraj Chopra to another second-placed finish.&nbsp;"Anderson Peters (Grenada), Julius Yego (Kenya), Curtis Thompson (America), Thomas Rohler are among the international stars who are going to participate in the 'Neeraj Chopra Claasic' Javelin throw meet in Bengaluru. <h2>'I have sent invitation to Arshad'</h2>
The NC Classic 2025 will serve as a crucial qualification event for the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/world-athletics-championships">World Athletics Championships</a> in Tokyo from September 13 to 21, though Neeraj, the reigning world champion, has already secured his spot.
"We are trying at least 4-5 Indians to compete. It's a gold-level event, which will give them good ranking points to qualify for the World Championships," he added.
When asked about the participation of the reigning Olympic champion, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, the 27-year-old Indian athletics star said, "I have sent invitation to Arshad and he said he will get back to me after discussing with his coach. As of now he is yet to confirm participation," Chopra shared.
Chopra further confirmed that the event, which was initially planned to take place in his native state, Haryana, at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula, is now relocated to Bengaluru's Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
Revealing the reason behind the change of venue, the javelin star said, "The stadium in Haryana does not have adequate lighting required for the broadcasting. It was 600 lux (in Tau Devi Lal Stadium) but we needed more. There was not enough time to get it fixed on time."
He added, "I spoke to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he gave us quite a positive response.". The event will be jointly organised by Neeraj Chopra and JSW Sports in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and World Athletics.

Although Peters was consistent throughout, with his remaining throws ranging between 84-86m, Neeraj’s two out of the final three attempts read 82.04m and 83.30.&nbsp;

Continuing&nbsp;to struggle with the groin niggle that kept him on his toes in the lead-up to the sporting spectacle in France, Neeraj recorded his season-best (SB) throw of 89.49m in his last attempt to finish second behind Anderson Peters, who hit&nbsp;a massive 90.61m throw.

Neeraj began the fourth round in fourth place and moved up in the top three with an impressive 89.49m in his fifth attempt, only to keep his best for the last. On his sixth and final attempt, he recorded his SB, which was 0.4m more than the one he clocked at the Paris Games (89.45m). Germany’s Julian Weber finished third with the best throw of 88.37m.

“The feeling wasn’t great at first, but I’m happy with my throw, especially the second (career) best throw on my last attempt. It was a tough start, but the comeback was really nice, and I enjoyed the fighting spirit I showed,” Chopra said in a chat with PTI after the event.

“Even though my early throws were around 80-83m, I pushed hard in the last two attempts finishing strong. Competing at this high level, it’s important to stay mentally tough and fight through,” he continued.

<h2>Tougher road ahead&nbsp;</h2>

Following his second-place finish in Lausanne, Neeraj earned seven points, tying with Weber (15 points) in third place in the Diamond League rankings, while Peters stands tall with 21 points. Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic is in the second spot with 16 points; he was placed seventh on Thursday with his best throw of 82.03m.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Chopra, who won the Lausanne DL leg in 2022 and 2023, was earlier reported to miss the competition to undergo surgery; he, however, delayed that call and confirmed last week that he would participate in Lausanne.

On September 5, another DL Meet will get underway in Zurich, Switzerland, where the men’s javelin throw competition is scheduled.&nbsp;

The DL finals for this season will take place on September 14 in Brussels, Belgium.&nbsp;

Continuing to struggle with the groin niggle that kept him on his toes in the lead-up to the sporting spectacle in France, Neeraj recorded his season-best (SB) throw of 89.49m in his last attempt to finish second behind Anderson Peters, who hit a massive 90.61m throw. Neeraj began the fourth round in fourth place and moved up in the top three with an impressive 89.49m in his fifth attempt, only to keep his best for the last. On his sixth and final attempt, he recorded his SB, which was 0.4m more than the one he clocked at the Paris Games (89.45m). Germany’s Julian Weber finished third with the best throw of 88.37m. Neeraj said the start was tough, but he is pleased with the comeback, lauding his fighting spirit. It was a tough start, but the comeback was really nice, and I enjoyed the fighting spirit I showed,” Chopra said in a chat with PTI after the event. “Even though my early throws were around 80-83m, I pushed hard in the last two attempts finishing strong. Competing at this high level, it’s important to stay mentally tough and fight through,” he continued. Tougher road ahead Following his second-place finish in Lausanne, Neeraj earned seven points, tying with Weber (15 points) in third place in the Diamond League rankings, while Peters stands tall with 21 points. Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic is in the second spot with 16 points; he was placed seventh on Thursday with his best throw of 82.03m. Meanwhile, Chopra, who won the Lausanne DL leg in 2022 and 2023, was earlier reported to miss the competition to undergo surgery; he, however, delayed that call and confirmed last week that he would participate in Lausanne. On September 5, another DL Meet will get underway in Zurich, Switzerland, where the men’s javelin throw competition is scheduled. “We have received preliminary information on the incident and understand that our world champion sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the assault meted out [by] these non-nationals. The Grenada Olympic Committee joins with all of Grenada in condemning these barbaric actions and look forward to the relevant authorities taking decisive actions against all the perpetrators. We stand ready to lend our support with his recovery and look forward to an expeditious resolution to the matter."

On the other hand, a statement was also carried out by the opposition New National Party, which read,&nbsp;"We strongly denounce all acts of violence and submit that such should not be tolerated. Grenada is marked by its peaceful nature and without a doubt, we subscribe to the rule of law."

Many were left in awe of Peters' stunning display, including Chopra, who insisted it was indeed a brilliant effort from the 24-year-old to produce three throws of over 90m in the final despite the challenging conditions in Eugene, Oregon where the wind was not favouring the javelin stars. Neeraj also agreed Peters was 'unbeatable' in the final considering&nbsp;the kind of form he was in.

"Yes, definitely (Anderson Peters was unbeatable in the final). According to me, it was a great effort from him to produce three throws of over 90m despite the challenging conditions. I am someone who accepts the fact that someone else is doing better and it's good to see that an athlete is doing well and progressing further," Neeraj said in an exclusive interaction with WION.

"There are some competitions where Anderson Peters has not been able to throw that far and has not done that well but that is common for an athlete — to face ups and downs. You should respect anyone who wins as everyone has worked hard for their victory," he added.
