Although Breivik was eligible to be paroled after serving 10 years of his 21-year sentence in January 2022, the court refused his request for parole. Suspect Espen Anderson Brathen had used a ''sharp object'' during the attack. The 37-year-old had publically announced that he had converted to Islam.
