However, the exact date of the incident is not known. A man was allegedly engaged in the breeding of Burmese pythons in captivity, reported the Free Press Journal. However, his actions took an adverse turn. An X user said, "That's a Burmese python. Someone's breeding it in captivity nearby. That's why the light colour." Other users speculated the nature of the rescue, saying the two men were not rescuing the snake but were trying to get rid of it. Another X user had a witty take on the incident. "Python getting stuck in Windows. Not a rare sight for programmers." The snake spotted in the video is believed to be an Albino Burmese python. The Burmese python, native to Asia, is one of the largest snake species in the world. It has a unique method of catching and eating food. These pythons are constrictors, snakes that kill their prey by coiling their bodies around them. The height of a Burmese python ranges from 9 to 20 feet, and they can weigh up to 200 pounds. People breed the Albino Burmese python, specifically for the colouration of their scales. They are rare species as only a few hatchlings have the distinctive "albino" colouring. Thomas Morel, a staff member at the Tropiquarium zoo says, “At Servion’s Tropiquarium, we have three Galapagos tortoises, one male and two females that have currently reached their sexual maturity, they are about 30 years old, a bit more, they are 33. The success rate of mating is around 2 to 3 per cent because these species are very big, and mating is complicated, this is why there is very little mating for this species, so we are very happy that our male is very active and succeeded. They live around 200 years.”

“Regarding albinism, what we found out is that for tortoises, it's about one in 100,000, so it’s something very special that we are lucky to see,” He added.

The mother, who weighs more than 100 kilograms (220 lb), laid five eggs on Feb. 11 and the albino baby hatched on May 1. The other baby hatched on May 5 after the eggs spent two-and-a-half months in an incubator.

The male weighs around 180 kg. Baby turtles weigh about 50 grams at birth and fit in the palm of the hand.

Morel says, “After several months of incubation, we had the chance to see the first hatching, it was the second hatching in the Servion’s Tropiquarium, we already had one last year, and this is the second. We were quite surprised by the tortoise’s colour. It can happen at birth, but after two days, we were sure it was an albino when it pointed the tip of its head, so it was really surprising, for this species, it’s quite extraordinary.”

Rare albino Galapagos giant tortoise debuts at Servion Tropiquarium

An albino activist was sworn in to Malawi's parliament on Thursday, a first in a country where people with albinism have suffered discrimination and killings.

Overstone Kondowe won a by-election last month in central Malawi, a milestone after years of victimisation. &nbsp;

"Being the first person with albinism elected in this kind of office, there is high expectation, not only in Malawi, but the whole world is looking forward to what I would do," he told AFP soon after his swearing-in.

"My last word to persons with disability, and in particular persons with albinism, they need not to underrate themselves," he said.

"And they need to work hard towards their goal. I remain a model to them and I will inspire them more so that they aim higher," he added.

Malawi suffered a wave of assaults against albinos from late 2014.

At the height of the attacks in 2016, Kondowe founded the Association of People with Albinism in Malawi to push the government to take action.

Amnesty International says more than 20 albinos have been killed in Malawi since 2014.

In the last four months, Amnesty said seven attacks against albinos have been recorded, ranging from killings, tampering of graves, attempted abductions, and physical violence.

As in other countries in the region, albinos' body parts are used in rituals to bring wealth and luck.

Some albinos are also accused of being "vampires" who seek human blood for rituals, sometimes triggering vigilante violence in retaliation.

President Lazarus Chakwera has named Kondowe as his special adviser on people with disability. Kondowe is also the current chairperson of the African Union for Persons with Albinism.

Former UN independent expert on albinism Ikponwosa Ero told AFP she was elated by Kondowe’s election.

"Overstone’s election is a giant step forward in the protection of human rights of people with albinism in Malawi and the Africa region as a whole," she said.

"It shows that the context of discrimination is changing for the better for people with albinism in Malawi."
