Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has revealed that he and his daughter Ira have been undergoing therapy sessions together. The actor, who is been on a break from acting for the past two years, has been spending quality time with his family.&nbsp; 
 
In a video shared by Netflix India, Aamir and Ira can be seen discussing mental health with Dr Vivek Murthy. 
 
"Therapy is so helpful. I think she (Ira) pushed me down that path. I would strongly recommend therapy to anyone who feels the need for it? It has been helpful for me. Ira and I also have started joint therapy. The two of us go to a therapist for our own relationship. To work on how to make that better and issues which have been there for over years," said the actor.&nbsp;

Khan asserted that therapy had the power to heal minds. "Therapy is a very powerful thing. I'm a fairly intelligent guy. I can think things through. I'm a sensible guy. If there's an issue, I can sort it out for myself. But no, I can't. It doesn't matter how intelligent you are. It doesn't matter how worldly-wise you are. We know so little about our minds... That a person who has a lot more knowledge and has got the basics right really helps you in leaps and bounds to understand it. In India, a lot of us feel if I go for therapy, I have a mental problem. I don't want people to know I'm going for therapy. But it is okay need help. I have benefited greatly from therapy." 
 
This isn't the first time that the father-daughter duo have engaged in a conversation about mental -health.&nbsp;

Ira Khan has been an open advocate for mental health awareness. She launched the Agastu Foundation in 2021 which works towards "making mental well-being more accessible". Ira is Aamir Khan and his first wife Reena Dutt's daughter.&nbsp;

Oakland, California, paid tribute to the late hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur on Friday, renaming a section of MacArthur Boulevard in his honour nearly 27 years after his tragic killing. MC Hammer, who was with Tupac during his final months before his tragic death in 1996, shared his admiration for his late friend, saying, "Hands down, the greatest rapper ever, there's not even a question of that."

Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' gets a Christmas release date

Aamir Khan on Wednesday said he was offered the role of Sunil Dutt in the <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-watch-ranbir-kapoor-in-sanju-teaser-sanjay-dutts-life-through-rajkumar-hirani-eyes--132509">Sanjay Dutt biopic </a>but he was more keen to play the lead role, which was already in Ranbir Kapoor's kitty. 
 
Aamir said when Rajkumar Hirani, who has directed him in '3 Idiots'&nbsp;and 'PK', narrated the idea of 'Sanju'&nbsp;to him, he fell in love with the script and felt it was written beautifully. Sunil Dutt's role is now being played by Paresh Rawal in the biopic. 
 
"He wanted me to play Sunil Dutt sahab's role and it is a fantastic role. Largely, it is a father-son story. But Sanju's role is unbelievable. I told Raju, Sanjay Dutt's role is so great that it has won my heart... So in this film, I can't do any other role but that of Sanjay Dutt, which I can't do as Ranbir Kapoor is doing it. 
 
"So, don't offer me any other role as I won't be able to do it. I can't come to the sets thinking this should have been my lines. That role has won my heart and I am sure Ranbir has done it really well, he is a fantastic actor. I can't wait to watch the film and Ranbir's performance," Aamir said in a group interview here.&nbsp; 
 
Aamir, 53, said he had met Sunil Dutt and remembers him as a person who was "graceful, and dignified". 
 
"He used to send me telegrams on Diwali, Eid, birthdays and congratulatory messages. There would be like three-four word messages like 'congratulations, well done'," Aamir recalled.&nbsp; 
 
The actor said he once ended up spending a night under the statue of Mahatma Gandhi with Sunil Dutt and three other stalwarts of the industry in 1993, during the Mumbai riots. 
 
"When Mumbai riots happened in 1993, the film industry took out a delegation to the chief minister saying bring in the Army, do what you had to do to stop the riots. Around 30 to 40 people had driven to the CM office.&nbsp; 
 
"... We decided we will sit near Mahatma Gandhi's statue near Mantralaya and will protest in open (to) stop the riots and we won't get up until violence stops. We took turns. Five people including me, Dutt sahab, Yash Chopra ji, Johnny Walker and a producer were there on the first night of protest." 
 
Calling the time spent with the legends as memorable, the'Dangal' star said they ended up sharing stories about their careers. 
 
"I was listening to the stories (about the) career of Dutt sahab, Yash ji and Johnny Walker... It was a wonderful time. It was a memorable night for me under the statue. By the next evening, the CM took some action and things went to normal." 
 
The actor, who has completed 30 years in Hindi cinema, is busy working on his next big release 'Thugs of Hindostan', scheduled to arrive in theatres in December.&nbsp; 
 
Akshay Kumar was earlier set to play the lead role in Gulshan Kumar biopic 'Mogul' but reports suggested that Aamir may step in following his exit. 
 
"I am producing Ghulshan ji's biopic with Bhushan Kumar (of T-Series). After 'Thugs..', I have not signed anything," Aamir clarified.

She revealed being diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression four-and-a-half years ago "without being ashamed, embarrassed and having the fear of being judged for it." Her depression was intense and she constantly juggled between suicidal thoughts, starving, a daily dosage of medicines and restlessness that were the highlight of her days. She wrote, "Perhaps it could've been *JUST A PHASE* but this awful phase has put me in situations I never wished or chose to be in.”

She wrote: "Popping 5 antidepressants every day, anxiety attacks, being rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night, feeling empty, restless, anxious, hallucinations, having sore limbs from sleeping too much to not being able to sleep for weeks, from overeating to starving myself, unexplained fatigue, body ache, self-loathing, nervous breakdowns, suicidal thoughts were all parts of this PHASE.”

What made her struggle worse was that she was made to believe that "there's no such thing as depression" and that it can only be diagnosed in those above the age of 25. "I was always pushed into the bubble of denial, despite knowing the reality and I would always lie to myself and others and just shake my head in yes when they would say - It's nothing, you're too young to be depressed, I would just lie to myself and call the doctors crazy," she wrote.

Towards the ending of the note, Zaira who gave a star performance in both Aamir Khan films, Dangal and Secret Superstar said that she is now taking a break from social media. She added, "I just need a complete break from everything, my social life, my work, school and especially social media. I'm really looking forward to the holy month of Ramadhan as it may be the perfect opportunity to figure things out. Please remember me in your prayers.”

She also thanked her family and near and dear ones for "being patient" with her.

Zaira has not had it great with the social media on several occasions as she was once trolled for meeting the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, after which she posted an apology and deleted it. In December, the 17-year-old actress was trolled again after she posted about a middle-aged man molesting her in-flight.&nbsp;
