<p>Britain's King Charles III on Monday (March 11) hailed the work of the Commonwealth on its 75th anniversary.</p>

<p>The British monarch, who is currently recuperating from cancer treatment, paid tribute to the voluntary club via a pre-recorded video message saying that he would continue to serve "to the best of" his ability.</p>

<p>"The seventy-fifth anniversary of The Commonwealth is a moment to reflect on the remarkable journey that our unique family of free and independent nations has made since 1949. Last year, The Bahamas celebrated its fiftieth anniversary of Independence, as Grenada has this year, and Papua New Guinea will next year. Each of these milestones – and many others like them – represent the fulfilment of countless aspirations and the achievement of such remarkable potential," Charles said in his message.</p>

<p>"Having recently celebrated my own 75th birthday, it warms my heart to reflect on the way the Commonwealth has been a constant throughout my own life – a precious source of strength, inspiration, and pride," he said.</p>

<p>"In recent weeks, I have been most deeply touched by your wonderfully kind and thoughtful good wishes for my health and, in return, can only continue to serve you, to the best of my ability, throughout the Commonwealth," he further added.</p>

<p>Charles was forced to step away from public duties after it was announced that he was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer.</p>

<p>The King heads the Commonwealth of 56 countries that evolved from the British Empire.</p>

<p>Due to his health condition, the annual service of celebration at London's Westminster Abbey was attended by his wife Queen Camilla, who took over the royal duties post Charles' cancer diagnosis.</p>

<p>This year's Commonwealth Day events, which are usually considered the most significant annual royal occasion, were also marred by controversy surrounding a photo that was shared by Kate, wife of heir to the throne Prince William on Sunday (March 10).</p>

<p>She apologised on Monday for issuing an edited photograph of herself with her three kids after several leading news organisations retracted the image.<br />

In a statement shared on Kensington Palace's social media, Kate expressed regret, stating, "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. <p>Over twenty members of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) are being rewarded with gallantry awards for their bravery during the conflict between the militaries in eastern Ladakh last year. These guards were posted&nbsp;along the India-China LAC.</p>

<p>These bravery medals are part of the 1,380 service medals announced by the Union government on the eve of Independence Day, all awarded to members of various central and state police forces.</p>

<p>The latest awards list includes two President's Police Medals for Gallantry (PPMG), 628 Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG), 88 President's Police Medals for distinguished service, and 662 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.</p>

<p>Sub Inspector Amar Deep of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and late Head Constable Kale Sunil Dattatraya of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are the only two recipients of the President's Police Medal for Gallantry.</p>

<p>Among the highest number of gallantry medals earned, 257 (1 PPMG and 256 PMG) go to the J&amp;K Police, followed by 151 (1 PPMG and 150 PMG) by the Central Reserve Police Force, according to an official home ministry list.</p>

<p>From the 23 gallantry medals awarded to the ITBP, twenty were earned for operations during the May-June 2020 clashes with the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Ladakh, where the central paramilitary guards the 3,488-km-long icy Line of Actual Control (LAC) shoulder-to-shoulder with the Army.</p>

<p>Six personnel were decorated with the PMG in recognition of their gallantry during hostilities near Hot Springs in Ladakh on May 18. The remaining six received the PMG for&nbsp;gallant action during a violent face-off&nbsp;near Finger IV on the same day.</p>

<p>Three ITBP personnel have been awarded the PMG for their work in anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh.</p>

<p>Recalling that "world of today is very different from what it was when the UN was created 75 years ago", the Zero draft resolution or the first draft said, "there are more countries, more people, more challenges but also more solutions" and "we support the ongoing reforms by the secretary-general..they are creating a more agile and effective organization that can deliver in the field and adapt to crisis like the COVID"</p>

<p>The resolution said, "We commit to instil new life in the discussions on the reforms of the security council and continue the work to revitalize the general assembly and strengthen the economic and social council"</p>

<p>UNSC has been found missing on the COVID-19 crisis, and even after more than 5 months when the first case was reported in China's Wuhan the body has not been able to come out with a resolution on the development. A Franco-Tunisian resolution was presented to the core UN body, but due to US-China till and use of language, the draft could not be passed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 75th anniversary UN draft also calls for preparing by learning and sharing experience and information in "order to make our system more resilient" since COVID-19 "caught us off guard". The draft resolution under the commitment to "protect the planet" called COVID "historic opportunity to build back better" and need to "immediately curb greenhouse gas emission".</p>

<p>The commitments include that no one is left behind, protection of plant, ensuring peace and security, abide by international rules and norms, put women at the centre, built trust, promote the use of new technologies for benefit of all, ensure financing and boost partnership.</p>

<p>The co-facilitators for intergovernmental consultations on the resolution's text are Permanent Representative of Qatar Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani &amp; Permanent Representative of Sweden Anna Karin Eneström.</p>

The resolution seen by WION lists out 12 commitments with pandemic reminding "us in the most powerful way that we are only as strong as our weakest link" One of the key commitments is reforming the UN, with the focus being "upgrade" of the New York-headquartered body. Recalling that "world of today is very different from what it was when the UN was created 75 years ago", the Zero draft resolution or the first draft said, "there are more countries, more people, more challenges but also more solutions" and "we support the ongoing reforms by the secretary-general..they are creating a more agile and effective organization that can deliver in the field and adapt to crisis like the COVID" The resolution said, "We commit to instil new life in the discussions on the reforms of the security council and continue the work to revitalize the general assembly and strengthen the economic and social council" UNSC has been found missing on the COVID-19 crisis, and even after more than 5 months when the first case was reported in China's Wuhan the body has not been able to come out with a resolution on the development. A Franco-Tunisian resolution was presented to the core UN body, but due to US-China till and use of language, the draft could not be passed. The 75th anniversary UN draft also calls for preparing by learning and sharing experience and information in "order to make our system more resilient" since COVID-19 "caught us off guard". The draft resolution under the commitment to "protect the planet" called COVID "historic opportunity to build back better" and need to "immediately curb greenhouse gas emission". The commitments include that no one is left behind, protection of plant, ensuring peace and security, abide by international rules and norms, put women at the centre, built trust, promote the use of new technologies for benefit of all, ensure financing and boost partnership. The co-facilitators for intergovernmental consultations on the resolution's text are Permanent Representative of Qatar Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani & Permanent Representative of Sweden Anna Karin Eneström.
