Two professors at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, are facing criticism for inconsistencies in grading answer sheets. It's reported that they gave marks to D Pharma students who wrote "Jai Shree Ram", cricketers' names, and unrelated content instead of actual answers.

As per a report by Aaj Tak, the matter surfaced when two student leaders named Uddeshya and Divyanshu Singh filed a Right to Information (RTI) request, claiming that the professors accepted bribes from students and unlawfully passed them.

They sought the roll numbers of about 18 D Pharma course students to review their answer sheets and requested re-evaluation. Additionally, they submitted an affidavit and a complaint letter regarding the issue.&nbsp;

Following this, Raj Bhavan initiated an inquiry into the issue on December 21, 2023. The university administration established a committee to probe the matter.

Upon re-evaluation of the answer sheets by external professors, a significant difference was noted in the marks assigned to the students. For instance, where the professors had given 52 and 34 marks, external evaluators deemed the same answer sheets worthy of only zero and four marks.

In response to the incident, Vice-Chancellor Vandana Singh fired two professors, Vinay Varma and Ashish Gupta.

Earlier, Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Arun Bothra shared on the&nbsp;platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that a student placed money inside an answer sheet, asking for passing marks. He also posted a picture of the notes found in the answer sheet.

Indian government pushed for the extradition of fugitive businessman and liquor baron Vijay Mallya from France without any preconditions, media reports said quoting sources.&nbsp;Even as Mallya is presumed to be present in the United Kingdom, India has been actively pursuing his extradition with countries where he holds properties and extradition treaties exist, France being one of them. This strategy is to facilitate extradition if Mallya travels to any of these countries, as per reports.&nbsp;

Mallya, who is facing legal troubles related to financial mismanagement, loan defaults, and allegations of fraud and money laundering, fled the country in 2016 and is currently believed to be living in the UK.&nbsp;

As per the said sources, “The French offered a (extradition) proposal with some preconditions (but) India asked them to approve the proposal without any preconditions." This discussion came during the 16th meeting of the India-France Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism, which was held on April 15.&nbsp;

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has fielded the most candidates in this phase at 74, followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at 69 and the Congress at 68.

By the end of Friday, a third of the total 543 Lok Sabha seats — that will include all seats in Kerala, Rajasthan, Manipur and Tripura, and 14 of the 28 seats in Karnataka — will have completed polling.&nbsp;

A day two brothers, aged 29 and 27, were mysteriously found dead&nbsp;at their residence in Goa, police officials stated that&nbsp;initial investigations indicate that they died&nbsp;due to extreme starvation. Their mother was also found unconscious in the same residence premises.

The father of the brothers, a garment salesman, had been residing separately from his wife and sons for some time due to disagreements regarding their "fasting" practices, as per police reports.

The two deceased individuals were named Mohammad Zuber Khan, aged 29, who worked as an engineer, and his younger brother Aafan Khan, aged 27. Their mother, Rukhsana Khan, is currently receiving medical care at a government hospital and will be transferred to the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) at Goa Medical College for a mental health evaluation.

On Wednesday, their father, Nazir Khan, went to their home in Aquem, Margao, but received no response when he knocked on the door. He then contacted the police.

“The house was locked from inside. In one room, the younger son was found dead. The elder son was found dead on the floor in an adjacent room and his mother was found unconscious on a bed,” an officer said, as cited by the Indian Express.&nbsp;

The police mentioned that earlier in the week, Nazir had tried to visit the house, but his wife and sons didn't let him inside.

Akbar Khan, the paternal uncle of the brothers, mentioned that his nephews and their mother had been confined to their house for several months and had become isolated from everyone.

Akbar explained that Nazir had relocated to another residence in Margao due to frequent conflicts with his wife and sons, particularly concerning their "fasting" and irregular eating habits.

The brothers had spent most of their childhood at their maternal home in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district, according to family members.

Akbar stated that Zuber had been employed as an engineer in Sawantwadi, Sindhudurg, while Aafan had completed his B.Com degree. Zuber was married and had two children, but later, both brothers and their parents moved to Margao, where they remained unemployed, as per their uncle.

Relatives mentioned that Zuber's wife and children did not accompany him to Margao.

The police mentioned that family members informed them that Zuber, Aafan, and Rukhsana were only consuming one date per day.&nbsp;

Akbar Khan, the paternal uncle of the brothers, mentioned that his nephews and their mother had been confined to their house for several months and had become isolated from everyone. Akbar explained that Nazir had relocated to another residence in Margao due to frequent conflicts with his wife and sons, particularly concerning their "fasting" and irregular eating habits. The brothers had spent most of their childhood at their maternal home in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district, according to family members. Akbar stated that Zuber had been employed as an engineer in Sawantwadi, Sindhudurg, while Aafan had completed his B.Com degree. Zuber was married and had two children, but later, both brothers and their parents moved to Margao, where they remained unemployed, as per their uncle. Relatives mentioned that Zuber's wife and children did not accompany him to Margao. The police mentioned that family members informed them that Zuber, Aafan, and Rukhsana were only consuming one date per day. From Mallikarjun Kharge and KC Venugopal to Rahul Gandhi,&nbsp;the leaders of grand old party have hoped to peak the scales of the south of Vindhyas during Modi years in power from where they intend to gain the political ground lost elsewhere in the country.
