Blast in Pak's Balochistan: Death toll rises to seven, CM condemns explosion

Police inBalochistan’s Mastung district said on Friday (Nov 1) that seven people, including five children, were killed in an explosion here. Speaking to Dawn,Mastung District Police Officer (DPO) Miandad Umrani said that a policeman was also killed in the explosion.
DPOUmrani said that the blast occurrednear a police van at a chowk near the Civil Hospital and a girlsschool. Seventeen people were injured in the explosion.
The Dawn report said thatinjured were being treated at Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital and Mastung District Headquarters Hospital, with 11 of them later shifted to the Quetta Trauma Centre (QTC).

The officer further added that explosive materialwas fixed in a motorcycle and was detonated via “remote control.” Umrani pointed out that the deceased children were between the ages of five and 10.
Footage from the explosion site showed police personnel and people gathered near a charred police van.
Several auto-rickshaws near the area were also damaged, Urmani added.
Balochistan CM condemns blast
"Condolences to martyred policemen and the heirs of innocent children, terrorists have now targeted innocent children along with poor laborers, the humanitarian incident is condemnable, terrorists have now targeted innocent children in soft target, innocent children and innocent children," Balochistan Chief MinisterSarfaraz Bugti said in a post on X.
Five killed at construction site in Balochistan
Theattack in Mastungcame three days after five people werekilled in an attack by armed men at the construction site of a small dam in Balochistan, officials said on Tuesday.
"We accept responsibility for killing seven informers and instrumentalists in Panjgur, Kech and Quetta," said separatist militant group the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in a statement, as reported by news agency Reuters.
The five dead, and two wounded, all worked at the construction site in Panjgur, spokesperson for theBalochistangovernment Shahid Rind said in a statement, adding the attack took place late at night.
Balochistan has seen an increase in strikes by separatist ethnic militants.
Last year on September 29, a total of 50 people were killed and dozens were injured in a suicide bombing near a mosque in Mastung. People had gatheredto celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.
Following the explosion, a state of emergency was declared in Balochistan.
