
News agency AFP reported that people of Damascus woke up on Monday with no electricity in their homes, however, officials said power partially returned in several provinces and parts of central Damascus.

Syrian state-run Ikhbariya TV channel's footage showed massive fire erupting after the blast. It said the blaze had been later doused.

James Jeffrey, the US point man on Syria, said Washington was looking into who carried out the attack, but he added: "it was almost certainly a strike by ISIS".

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the explosion between Adra and Dmeir was so loud that it could be heard in Damascus.

The attack on the pipeline that extends from Egypt into Jordan and Syria is the latest assault on Syria's state facilities. In February, the government accused "terrorists" for carrying out rocket fire in four different oil and gas facilities in the central province of Homs.
