Reeva Jadeja, wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, met with an accident when her car hit the bike of the cop in Gujarat's Jamnagar city.

One eyewitness reported to media that the accident was minor but policeman reacted aggressively and slapped Reeva.

The policeman, Sanjay Ahir, who reportedly assaulted Reeva, has been detained&nbsp;after the incident.

Soon after the incident was reported, Gujarat police&nbsp;initiated the procedure to book the respective policeman for attacking Indian cricket team player Ravindra Jadeja’s wife.

As per media reports, the policeman allegedly got down from the bike and physically assaulted Jadeja's wife.

The reports of physical assault were confirmed by Jamnagar district Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sejul. While giving insight into the incident, he said, "The policeman physically assaulted Reeva Jadeja after her car hit his motorbike. We are providing all possible help to her and will take strict action against the policeman."

"The policeman mercilessly thrashed Reeva and even pulled her hair during an altercation. We saved her from his clutches," Vijaysinh Chavda told reporters.&nbsp;

The Central Bureau of Investigation has booked the MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in a criminal conspiracy case for falsely implicating Unnao rape victim's father in a case.

The victim's father, who died in police custody, was arrested after the family attempted to commit suicide outside Chief Minister Adityanath's Lucknow residence.&nbsp;

The BJP MLA who&nbsp;is currently in police custody on charges of rape&nbsp;was arrested on April 13 after an immediate order from the Allahabad High Court.

The CBI had earlier this month confirmed allegation of rape against him.

The MLA has been booked under IPC sections &nbsp;376 (rape), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing a woman to compel her for marriage,), 363 (kidnapping) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Unnao rape case: BJP MLA Sengar booked for conspiring against victim's father

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday remembered his father former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 27th death anniversary today.&nbsp;

Taking to Twitter, the Congress president posted a picture of his father whose caption read: "My father taught me that hate is a prison for those who carry it. Today, on his death anniversary, I thank him for teaching me to love and respect all beings, the most valuable gifts a father can give a son," he tweeted.

"Rajiv Gandhi, those of us that love you hold you forever in our hearts," he added.

On Monday morning, Rahul Gandhi along with his sister Priyanka and her husband &nbsp;Robert Vadra paid homage to the former PM at Vir Bhumi in Delhi.&nbsp;

Rajiv Gandhi became the youngest PM of India at 40 when he assumed office after his mother and former PM Indira Gandhi was assassinated in 1984.

He was assassinated in Tamil Nadu’s Sriperumbudur, a village located about 40 kms from Chennai in a suicide bombing.

'Hate is a prison,' says Rahul Gandhi on father Rajiv's 27th death anniversary

External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday warned that the world was reeling under a storm of protectionism and said India did not agree with US President Donald Trump's "Me First" approach on the issue.

India, she stressed, believed in the concept of "We, Us and Ourselves".

"I was sad when President Trump, in the UN General Assembly, said his slogan was Me First," the external affairs minister said.

She was referring to Trump's speech at the United Nations in September last year when he had said, "As President of the United States, I will always put America first, just like you, as the leaders of your countries will always, and should always, put your countries first."

"There is a storm of protectionism at the global level which is centred around the concept of Me and Myself but India believes in the concept of We, Us and Ourselves. If everyone views the other as equal then there is no place for protectionism in it," she said.

Swaraj was delivering the first Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Memorial International lecture on 'Soft Power Diplomacy: Strength of India', organised by the ICCR.

After Trump's speech, Swaraj said she had a meeting with ministers of Latin American and Caribbean States.

"A foreign minister of a small country spoke about President Trump's speech of Me First. She said if everyone says (and follows the policy) of Me First then how will my country sustain."

Swaraj said she pointed out that India had a different approach.

"I said India does not have the tradition of (following the policy of) Me First. I said my speech will have (the concept of) Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah," she said, quoting a sloka from the Vedas that translates into "May everyone be happy".

"When everyone is happy then everyone will have the provision of food and security," she said.

The minister said India believed in the policy of assisting other countries, especially those who required a helping hand.

"If we don't do this then developed countries will continue to grow and under-developed countries will remain under-developed. So how will economic disparity reduce," she asked.

Swaraj said Indian culture, yoga, classical dance, movies, cuisine and Information Technology were a "treasure of soft power".&nbsp

Narrating anecdotes about the craze for Indian films abroad, the external affairs minister said the passion was not restricted to Hindi cinema but extended to regional language films such as 'Bahubali'.&nbsp

"Chinese President Xi Jinping wanted 'Dangal' to be screened at the BRICS Summit at Xiamen. The Indian ambassador in Mongolia wanted the movie dubbed in Mongolian as wrestling is the national sport of that country. When I met Prime Minister Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh of Mongolia , he said he wanted to be an actor in Bollywood. To this, I quipped we need handsome leaders in politics too," she said.

Swaraj said during bilateral meetings, foreign delegations proposed that the Bollywood industry shoot in their countries as it boosted tourism.

She also shared an anecdote on how leaders in the recently held India-ASEAN Commemorative Summit came up with a demand for a song from the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and for 'Bol Radha Bol Sangam' from the 1964 Raj Kapoor-starrer 'Sangam'.&nbsp

The project of installing solar panels was commissioned last year in April 2017.

Around 2352 solar modules with a capacity of generating 700 kwp has been set up over the roof of the Guwahati railway station. have been installed at the roof-top solar power plant.

The solar-powered station is aimed at reducing carbon-footprint as well as cut down power costs drastically.

Around 6.3 lakh kg carbon dioxide emissions have been cut off between April 12 last year to May 10 this year.

The project cost is estimated to be Rs 6.7 crore, as per Indian Railways. The solar power plant will save Rs 67 lakh worth of electricity.

With an average power generation capacity per day is 2048 KWh, the solar panels till date have generated a total of 7,96,669 KWH of electricity.

The Indian Railways is currently the country’s largest consumer of electricity and diesel and spent around Rs31,000 crore, or 18% of its operational expenses, on fuel in the financial year 2016. In part to bring down this burgeoning fuel bill, the state-run transportation network has been taking steps to transition to renewable energy for a few years now.

Markets saw a positive start today as the benchmark Sensex bounced by about 126 points, reversing its four-session losing streak, on the back of a firming trend at other Asian markets.

The 30-share barometer recovered 125.65 points, or 0.36 per cent, at 34,973.95. It had lost 708.41 points in the previous four sessions largely on political uncertainty in Karnataka.

PSU, banking, metal, IT capital goods and teck indices rose by up to 0.43 per cent.

The NSE Nifty moved up by 25.30 points, or 0.23 per cent, to 10,621.70.

Support came from TCS, SBI, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, ONGC, L&T, Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank, Adani Ports, Yes Bank, Power Grid, NTPC and HDFC Bank, which climbed by up to 2.05 per cent.

Meanwhile, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) net sold shares worth Rs 166.15 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought equities to the tune of Rs 149.58 crore on Friday, as per provisional data.

On the domestic front, the political slugfest in Karnataka culminated with the BJP's B S Yeddyurappa quitting minutes before he was to face a floor test to prove his contested majority in the hung assembly. The JD(S)-Congress combine, led by the regional party's chief H D Kumaraswamy, is set to form the government in the state.&nbsp

Asian markets were higher in early trade. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 1.21 per cent while Japan's Nikkei rose 0.49 per cent. Shanghai Composite too was up 0.64 per cent.

After the body was found, police scanned the footage from CCTV cameras installed in Mianwali Nagar and the tenants of nearly 200 homes in the area were "analysed", police said.

Police received a tip-off that one of the tenants, a resident of Jharkhand, was missing since the girl's killing.

A raid was conducted at his village but he was not there.

Later, police learnt that the man was expected to visit his rented accommodation in Delhi on May 17. A trap was laid and he was arrested.

The man, Manjeet Karketa, confessed that he killed the girl with help from two other people, including a woman.

During interrogation, he revealed that the three persons used to lure young and poor girls from Jharkhand promising them attractive employment in Delhi, police said.

They had brought the victim to Delhi around three years ago and got her employed as a domestic help. The accused used to collect her salary and did not pay her, police said.

After one year, the girl quit the job and visited the Karketa on May 3, when he and his accomplices killed her. They chopped her body into three pieces and dumped them in a drain, police said.

BJP president Amit Shah today said the Karnataka Assembly poll verdict was against the Congress and described the alliance between the JD(S) and Congress as “unholy.”&nbsp

Addressing media at BJP HQ, Shah also explained why the BJP staked the claim to form the government in the state.&nbsp

He said the mandate was pro-BJP and since the party had emerged as the single largest party, it had the first right to form a government.&nbsp

Shah further accused the Congress of playing caste and communal card in the elections. He also claimed that people are not happy with JD(S) and Congress alliance.&nbsp

Sentiment got another jolt after Moody's Investors Service downgraded PNB's rating, citing the impact of recent fraud on its capital as well as weak internal controls, brokers said.

The 30-share Sensex had soared about 126 points to hit a high of 34,973.95 in early trade but gave up its gains following a widespread sell-off, which dragged it down to 34,593.82.

The gauge finally ended at a nearly one-month low of 34,616.13, down 232.17 points or 0.67 per cent. This is its weakest closing since April 25 when it had finished at 34,501.60.

It had lost 708.41 points in the previous four sessions.

The broader NSE Nifty closed lower by 79.70 points, or 0.75 per cent, at 10,516.70, after hovering between 10,621.70 and 10,505.80.

A plunge in the rupee's value and sustained foreign fund outflows added to the gloom.

The strategy of police and security agencies is to cut the "umbilical cord" by smashing the overground worker network, which is instrumental in radicalising youth and pushing them to jihad, the officials said.

In the run-up to the Centre asking security forces not to launch operations during Ramzan, there was need to eliminate hardcore terrorists like Saddam Paddar, Esa Fazili and Sameer Tiger as they were the brains behind the fresh influx of cadres for Pakistan-based terrorist groups Lashker-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen, officials said.

After the elimination of several top leaders, efforts are now on to change the script.

Operations based on specific intelligence inputs will continue but there will also be increasing emphasis on catching newly-recruited terrorists alive, they said.

"We have got indication from our field intelligence that many desire to return. Some parents have also approached us and we have no hesitation in helping them resume their normal life and education at the earliest," a senior police official said.

Many officials, including those from intelligence agencies, believe the present cessation of hostilities may provide the much needed window to convince parents to woo their wards back to textbooks.

The aim, he said, is to create a conducive atmosphere so that people can get over the cycle of violence.

Several people from various parts of the Valley have been booked in the last seven months. They were entrusted with the indoctrination of young minds and motivating them to pick up arms, officials said.

The identification of these overground workers is necessary before a crackdown on the militant top brass, they explained.&nbsp

"The militants also know that their basic structure of the overground network, which used to facilitate their movement from one place to another, has been hit. You can't be holed up at one place for days together," an official said.

The multi-pronged strategy -- including encounters with militants, fighting their overground workers in courts and smashing their network of sympathisers -- has also brought down the number of videos on social media showing groups of militants roaming freely in the orchards and forests of Tral, Shopian and Kulgam in South Kashmir.

"The affected people along the river banks have been shifted to 16 flood relief camps in which 670 families are living. This may increase as rescue operations are underway by National Disaster Relief Force, Tripura State Rifles, and Civil Defense. The administration has arranged for ample food supply and drinking water," he added.

Heavy rainfall since Saturday created havoc in the city throwing the lives of people out of gear, following which an alert was also been sounded by the Sadar sub-division administration when the river touched the danger mark.

Tripura Minister Ratan Lal Nath along with the authorities of the administration visited some flood-affected areas to meet the victims.

"Due to a sudden downpour in the hilly areas, the Balda Khal, Chandrapur and adjoining areas are flooded as the water level in rivers have increased, due to which, the water is unable to pass to Bangladesh," he said".

In the meantime, several families had to be evacuated and the administration had already reached before I came here.

Officials have looked into people's problems and local people have also rendered help. Arrangements for boats have been made though we were not ready for this situation which is a natural hazard and the administration stood by the people," he added.

The heavy downpour was reported in the state's hilly areas over the past 24 hours, triggering a flood in the downstream areas including the capital town and its adjacent areas.

According to reports, more than five thousand people, along with their belongings and domestic animals have taken refuge in temporary camps in various schools and government establishments in and around the capital Agartala.

Purnima Datta a flood victim said, "Since morning, there has been no rain, but all of a sudden the water level has gone up. We are in great problem and do not know what we should do. We left essential commodities and documents in our house but not sure if shall find them in proper condition. We have not seen such floods earlier. The Minister has assured all help, let's wait and see."

Another flood victim Milan Biswas said, "I have come here with a one-and-a-half-month-old child as water entered our house and everything was under water. We were rescued in a boat and during the night there was rain."

Water levels in major rivers- Gomati, Deo, Manu, and Haora were swelling with every passing hour, posing flood threat throughout the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russia's Sochi as part of his informal summit with the Russian President. The two leaders also held a meeting. PM Modi also congratulated Russian President on his fourth term and thanked him for the invite. "India and Russia have been friends for a long time. Thankful to President Putin for inviting me for an informal meeting at Sochi," said PM Narendra Modi in Russia's Sochi. After meeting President Putin, PM Modi said, "Russia played a major role in helping India get a permanent membership in SCO. We are working together on International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and BRICS." Yesterday, PM Modi had said that he had hoped that the talks between the two leaders would strengthen "special and privileged" partnership between India and Russia. The summit is being held on the lines of the Wuhan informal summit between PM Modi and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping. PM Narendra Modi meets Russian President Vladimir Putin, hails 'friendship'

In a bid to perhaps outsmart the Supreme Court, BSP chief has converted her official accommodation into a memorial for late party supremo Kanshiram.&nbsp;

Instead of vacating her official residence at 13 A, Mall Avenue, Lucknow, Mayawati has reportedly gotten a signboard on the premises declaring it to be ‘Shri Kanshiram Ji Yaadgar Vishraam Sthal’.&nbsp;

Supreme Court has recently ordered former Uttar Pradesh chief ministers to vacate their official residences.

The Supreme Court had earlier this month said that former chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh cannot retain government accommodation after demitting office, observing that a chief minister was at par with a common man once his or her term ends.

The court was hearing a petition filed by NGO Lok Prahari, challenging the amendments made by the erstwhile Akhilesh Yadav government to the UP Ministers (Salaries, Allowances and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1981.

As per the notice served by the UP Government after Supreme Court’s order, six former CMs of UP, including Mayawati and Akhilesh, will have to vacate their government bungalows by the end of this month.

Though Mayawati is set to vacate her government bungalow situated at 13A Mall Avenue and is reportedly moving to a new address 9 Mall Avenue, which happens to be bang opposite to her house. But on Monday morning one board had come up at 13A Mall Avenue which read 'Kanshiram Yaadgar Vishram Sthal'.

Actor-producer Salman Khan will be distributing his upcoming Eid release Race 3. The actor is a co-producer of the film and also plays a key character in the film.

Salman started producing films under the Salman Khan Films banner with Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Race 3, jointly produced by Salman Khan Films headed by Salman's mother Salma Khan, will be distributed by his father Salim Khan, who will personally look into it. 
 
Two leading distributors were pitching to bag the distribution rights of the film. However, Salman inked the deal himself, the film's spokesperson said in a statement.&nbsp; 
 
One of the most anticipated films of the season, Race 3 also features Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Saqib Saleem, Daisy Shah and Anil Kapoor. The third film in the Race franchise, the film's trailer gained a lot of buzz when it released last week.&nbsp; 
 
Directed by Rem D'Souza, Race 3 is produced by Tips films and will release in theatres on 15th June.&nbsp;
