Home Minister Amit Shah directed law enforcement agencies on Tuesday (November 11) to track down every individual responsible for the deadly car explosion near the Red Fort, the cause of which is still unclear.
A car exploded near Delhi's iconic Red Fort on Monday evening, killing at least 8 people. Videos from the spot showed people running around charred vehicles. The explosion resulted in fire in several other vehicles Eyewitnesses reported that the intensity of the blast shattered window panes of vehicles parked some distance away. Initially, the Delhi Fire Department received a call regarding an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station around 6:52 pm. Delhi Police has now filed a case under UAPA, Explosives Act sections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives in the blast and said that he has reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and other officials. The Union Home Minister visited blast site and reviewed the situation. Teams from the Delhi Police Special Cell, Crime Branch, NIA, NSG and FSL reached the spot. The Home Minister also visited Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital and met the injured.
The Delhi government has announced compensation for the deceased and injured in the Delhi blasts. The government will provide ₹10 lakh to the families of those killed, ₹5 lakh to those permanently disabled, and ₹2 lakh to those seriously injured.
Top official sources have said that a Faridabad-based sleeper module that was activated by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) after Operation Sindoor has been busted. Following the Indian military campaign targeting terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), security agencies have been on high alert for any possible revenge attack by the terror group after the elimination of family members of Masood Azhar during air strikes in Bahawalpur, the outfit’s headquarters.

Home Minister Amit Shah has called another security review meeting at 3 pm in the wake of the Delhi blast that killed at least eight.
Police in Pulwama have detained the father of Dr Umer Nabi, the driver of the Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort in Delhi.
Another doctor from Pulwama, identified as Dr Sajad Ahmad Malla, has been detained for questioning in connection with the Delhi blast.
His Majesty the King of Bhutan led a prayer, with thousands of Bhutanese, for the victims of the Delhi blast, at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu
IG CRPF Rajesh Agrawal arrived at the Delhi Red Fort blast site. He said, “Delhi Police will give official information. CRPF provides any required assistance to the Delhi Police.”
"All those responsible will be brought to justice": PM Modi, while speaking in Bhutan said.
"Those responsible for this tragedy will be brought to justice and will not be spared under any circumstances," said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the Delhi Red Fort car blast.
Punjab DGP tweets, "In an intelligence-led operation, Ferozepur Police busts a cross-border weapon smuggling network and apprehends two accused — Gurpreet Singh alias Gori and Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky. Preliminary investigation reveals that accused Vikramjeet Singh maintained direct links with a Pakistan-based smuggler involved in illegal arms trafficking. Acting on his disclosure, police recovers two additional Glock pistols. He further confessed to supplying weapons to local contacts at the direction of his Pakistani handlers. His arrest also helped trace an earlier case involving the procurement of an AK-47 rifle from the same cross-border network..."
Key meeting on Delhi blast at Amit Shah’s residence started at 11 am on Tuesday (Nov 11). DG NIA, police commissioner Delhi and Director IB, Home Secy are attending the meet. Jammu Kashmir DGP has joined the meet virtually.
“Ukraine shares the grief of the people and government of India following a tragic explosion in the heart of New Delhi that claimed lives and injured many. We express condolences to the victims’ families and wish a speedy recovery to those who have been injured,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Singapore High Commissioner condemned the Delhi blast, calling it an “act of terror”.

The Canadian Embassy in India on Tuesday conveyed its condolences to the families of those killed in a car blast yesterday near Delhi's Red Fort and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. In a statement, the Canadian Embassy in India said, "Canada offers its condolences to the families of the people who were killed in yesterday's horrific explosion in New Delhi and wishes those injured a speedy recovery."


A footage shows the I-20 driver wearing a black mask moments before the blast. Another footage shows him inside the car the car entering the parking lot with the driver’s hand resting on the window, while another image shows him wearing a blue-and-black T-shirt.

Delhi Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) invoking terrorism and the Explosives Act. The FIR includes Sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), which deal with terrorist acts and the punishment for supporting terrorism, a Delhi Police spokesperson said. Delhi Police has also detained the owner of the car identified as Mohd Salman.
As the investigation into the deadly blast at Delhi’s Red Fort that killed eight and injured 20, the agencies are reviewing footage from over 100 CCTV cameras. On Monday (Nov 10), a car exploded in the busy area in the national capital near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station around 6:52 pm. The explosion resulted in fire in several other vehicles. Eyewitnesses reported that the intensity of the blast shattered the window panes of vehicles parked some distance away.
Delhi Metro informed in a post on X, “Lal Qila Metro Station is closed due to security reasons. All other stations are functional as normal.”
Two individuals were detained for questioning from Pulwama in connection with the Delhi blast.
Red Fort will remain closed to the public until further notice as the investigation into the blast continues.
CCTV footage showed the car leaving the parking lot at 6:22, exactly 30 minutes before the blast happened at 6:52. Reportedly, the suspect waited in the I20 car for nearly 2-3 hours without leaving the vehicle. It's believed he was either waiting for someone or instructions.

Australia expressed condolences. In a post on X, Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, said, “Our deepest condolences go out to all those affected by the incident this evening near Delhi's Red Fort. Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones, and we wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed condolences and wrote in a post on X, "Deeply saddened by the tragic car blast in Delhi. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. Pray for the speedy recovery of the injured."
The US State Department Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs expressed condolences. In a post on X, it said, "Our hearts are with those affected by the terrible explosion in New Delhi. We continue to closely monitor the situation. Our sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured."
