The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to not screen Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Padmavati in the state.

The decision was taken by the state CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan after the Rajput Community in the state submitted a memorandum seeking a ban on the film.

Incidentally, the makers have deferred the film's release which was earlier scheduled to release on December 1.

Before Madhya Pradesh, distributors refused to pick up the film in Rajasthan too.

Spearheaded by the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, several groups have taken to the streets to protest against the screening of the film in various parts of the country.They've abused and given the Padmavati cast and crew dire life threats, as well.

Earlierlast week, UP government had sent a letter to CBFC to consider people's sentiments and consider the peace and harmony of the country while certifying the film. BJP leaders in Gujarat had also sought a ban on Padmavati in the state as the release date was clashing with Gujarat assembly elections.
