Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the magnum opus stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita.
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is one of the most ambitious magnum opuses that audiences across the world are eagerly waiting to watch. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role as Lord Rama, the two-part saga is an adaptation of Valmiki Ramayana.
On the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, the makers unveiled the film’s first look by releasing a teaser. It introduced Ranbir’s appearance as Lord Rama and offered a brief glimpse into how the world of Ramayana will be portrayed on the big screen. In the film, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, while Yash plays Ravana.
The teaser was premiered at special screenings held in Los Angeles and New York City, attended by producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari, and actor Ranbir Kapoor.
The film appears grand in scale, and the teaser undeniably looks visually magnificent, with Ranbir Kapoor drawing the most attention for obvious reasons. However, reactions to the teaser have been mixed.
While some fans are in awe of the visuals, others have expressed disappointment, particularly regarding the VFX. A section of viewers compared the visuals to Adipurush, Om Raut’s directorial adaptation of the same epic, which received criticism for its visual effects.
Some viewers also drew comparisons with Ramayan by Ramanand Sagar, often considered one of the best adaptations. According to them, the innocence of Lord Rama seems to be missing in this version.
The chat around the film has already begun across platforms like X, Reddit, and Instagram.
One user on Reddit wrote,''who are the people that are saying this looks good 😭 shots look ai enhanced or something and 3rd one reminds me of adipurush''

Made on a massive budget of Rs 4000 crore, Ramayana brings together some of the finest talents in the film industry. Produced by Namit Malhotra and DNEG. The music is a collaboration between Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, known for his work on Dune.
Apart from Ranbir, Sai Pallavi and Yash, the movie also stars Sunny Deol, who is playing the role of Lord Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and others.
The first part of the movie will release in Diwali 2026.
