Kate Winslet undergoes testosterone replacement therapy to boost her 'sex drive'

Kate Winslet is opening up about undergoing hormone therapy to increase her "sex drive". The actress has candidly spoken about a common issue many women in their 40s and 50s face but hardly discuss.

In a candid conversation on the How to Fail podcast, Kate revealed that she had undergone testosterone replacement therapy at the age of 48 to address a dip in her libido.

“Sometimes women have a real dip in libido because there might be stuff going on with their thyroid,” Winslet said during Friday’s episode. "There could also be stuff going on with your level of testosterone."

"A lot of people don’t know this, but women have testosterone in their body, when it runs out, like eggs, it’s gone, and once it’s gone you have to replace it and that is something that can be done and you’ll feel sexy again," she added.

Winslet, who has been married to Edward Abel Smith since 2012, also opened up about her personal journey and reassured listeners that hormonal changes are a natural part of ageing and beyond an individual’s control.

"It’s not [your] fault,” she said, adding that women’s bodies change in “weird” and “strange” ways as they get older. She advised the listener to consider checking her hormone levels since imbalances can have an impact on intimacy.

During the podcast, Winslet also spoke about the positive aspects of growing older. Sharing a powerful message of self-acceptance and confidence, she saidthat women become “juicier and sexier” with age.

"More embedded in their truth of who they are, more powerful, more able to walk through the world and care less, and that is an empowering thing," Winslet said. "I say to my friends all the time, ‘You look amazing, you look great.'"
