Emmy Awards 2024: Ceremony begins with protests, pro-Palestinian demonstrators disrupt red carpet

The biggest night of television, the Emmys, began with proteststhis year. On Sunday (Sep15), several pro-Palestinian protesters took to the streets in downtown Los Angeles before the 76th Primetime Emmys ceremony began.
Dozens of protesters walked along Figueroa Street, which leads to the red carpet of the mega event at the Peacock Theatre, the venue of Emmy.
Demanding #FreePalestine #FreeSudan #FreeCongo, the protesters wore keffiyehs and carried signs as they shouted and chanted on the streets.
They were carrying the board signs, which read, “No justifying the murder of children,'' as per Variety.
Approximately 35 protesters gathered, blocking the traffic and the street, reports Deadline.
Additionally,actor Dallas Goldtooth made a powerful statement at the night as he wore a red Artists4Ceasefire pin, supporting the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
This is not the first time protesters have taken the opportunity to attract the limelight on some major event day and made their voices heard.
A few weeks back, the Toronto International Film Festival was rocked by the chants of pro-Palestine protesters. On the first day of the festival, around five pro-Palestine protesters walked inside Toronto’s Princess of Wales theatre, disrupting the screening of David Gordon Green’s movie.

Nevertheless, the 2024 Awards Night began with Emmy winners Eugene Levy and Dan Levy as the hosts of the evening.
The biggest nominees of the evening are Shogun and The Bear, and it seems that these two shows will likely dominate the awards night this year.
