Deepika Padukone on her first meeting with Ranveer Singh: He was dating someone else, flirting with me

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh may have dated for 6 years before they tied the knot in November earlier this year but the two stars had always been quite discreet about their relationship. While one would see Ranveer indulging in occasional PDA on social media, Deepika always restrained from talking about the couple's relationship status.

It is only, post-wedding, that the two have started talking about their relationship. Recently in a chat show, Deepika recalled her first meeting with Ranveer at Yash Raj office many years back. "I was at YashRaj and he was there and he was flirting like it’s nobody’s business and he was dating somebody else at this point and I was smiling to myself and told him, ‘You are flirting with me.’”

Deepika and Ranveer eventually started dating in 2012 while working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Ram Leela'. The actress recalled the time spent at Bhansali's house prepping for the role was the most special for the couple. "Sir called us over for lunch and we were eating and apparently there was a piece of crab stuck in my tooth and he wanted to make me awkward and he said, ‘Oh, there’s a crab stuck in your mouth,’ and I said, ‘Then take it out’. That moment all three of us won’t forget,” Deepika said.

Right before their wedding, the couple attended a media event where Ranveer recalled how he had met her at a five-star hotel while he was dining with his parents. He excitedly whispered to his parents that she was sitting right behind them - “I was a huge fan of hers” - and told them that he’d introduce himself later. "My one takeaway from that meeting was ‘how can anyone look like that’," added the actor.

Ranveer and Deepika tied the knot at Lake Como on 14th and 15th November. The ceremony was an intimate one with a no-mobile-phones policy. They later hosted four receptions in India- one in Bengaluru and three in Mumbai.
