According to the report, global HNWIs' wealth declined by 3.6 per cent&nbsp;to $83 trillion in 2022, marking the most significant dip&nbsp;between 2013 and 2022. Both diversified investment instruments and equity have experienced declines in HNWIs' wealth. Additionally, the number of HNWIs has also decreased by 3.3 per cent, reaching 21.7 million in 2022.

India's ED issues show-cause notice to Xiaomi over illegal remittances

The United States on Wednesday posted its worst trade deficit figures in the last six months, as exports saw its biggest fall since April 2020.&nbsp;

The latest trade figures, released by the US Commerce department, are&nbsp;a matter of worry for policymakers in the world's largest economy, which is already bracing for a recession later this year.

As per the data, the trade deficit in April widened to a six-month high, as the shortfall grew by $14 billion to $74.6 billion.&nbsp;Data for March was revised to show the trade gap narrowing to $60.6 billion instead of the previously reported $64.2 billion.

Total exports fell 3.6 percent, the most since April 2020, to $249 billion in April 2023. That was the time when Covid-19 pandemic began to raise its ugly head across the world.&nbsp;

The decline in the exports of capital goods and consumer merchandise played a big role in the weak April data.&nbsp;

On the other hand, US imports rose 1.5 percent to $323.6 billion in April this year. Increase in the imports of motor vehicles and parts, industrial supplies, cell phones spiked the US import bill.&nbsp;

Moreover, the US government revised the goods trade data from 2018 while the trade services figures were revised from 2017.

While the decline in exports indicate that the world economy is slowing down, the rise in imports reflect that consumer spending in the United States has remained resilient. &nbsp;

Economists now expect that trade could chop off as much as 2.5 percentage points from gross domestic product this quarter. That is unless imports reversed course, a tall order given the persistent strength in domestic demand.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the United States' trade deficit with China, the world's second-largest economy, continued to widen in April. The deficit with China widened to $24.2 billion from $22.6 billion in March.

More bad news for the US economy: Trade deficit widens to 6-month high

The aerospace giant, Boeing was sued, on Wednesday (June 7) by a company based in the US state of Colorado for allegedly “stealing” trade secrets for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and which could have led to leaks on the International Space Station. Meanwhile, Boeing has denied these charges and said that the lawsuit has “inaccuracies and omissions”.

<h2>What are the accusations against Boeing?</h2>

The lawsuit was filed&nbsp;by a company named Wilson Aerospace&nbsp;in a federal court in the United States city of Seattle. According to the complaint, Wilson Aerospace was working with Boeing for two years between 2014 and 2016 after the latter sought the former’s help for safely attaching engines to the SLS rocket.&nbsp;

This comes as Boeing has reportedly feared the loss of billions of dollars of NASA revenue. Wilson claims that after the company provided Boeing with the designs for a unique torque wrench,&nbsp;the latter cancelled the former’s contract. However, according to Wilson, Boeing continued to use its intellectual property without “full instructions” on how to build or install it.&nbsp;

Wilson has accused Boeing of creating “critically deficient in quality and performance,” versions of their design, adding that these “mismatched” tools may have caused or contributed to dangerous leaks which had delayed the launch of the SLS rocket, reported Sky News.&nbsp;

The lawsuit also said that Boeing was able to earn billions of dollars in revenue because of the “infringement of Wilson’s trade secrets.” It added that Boeing must turn over “all revenues and profits Boeing has obtained as a result.”&nbsp;

The lawsuit then claims that &nbsp;Boeing went on to blame the leaks which could endanger astronauts on Wilson’s design. “Boeing has not only stolen our intellectual property and damaged our company's reputation but has used the technology incorrectly and at the expense of astronauts' safety, which is beyond despicable,” said founder and president, David Wilson, as quoted by Sky News.&nbsp;

However, this is not the only project that two aerospace companies had collaborated on and in relation to a somewhat similar allegation Wilson said Boeing stole trade secrets related to bolt installation tools for its 787 Dreamliner aircraft which the Colorado-based company was asked to design in 2012.

In a statement after the lawsuit was filed, the aerospace giant based in Arlington, Virginia, said, “This lawsuit is rife with inaccuracies and omissions.” It added, “We will vigorously defend against this in court.”&nbsp;

"The MPC decided unanimously to keep the policy change unchanged at 6.5 per cent," RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said&nbsp;while announcing the second bi-monthly policy for 2023-24.

Repo Rate&nbsp;is the rate of interest at which commercial banks in India borrow money from the Reserve Bank of India.&nbsp;Changes in Repo Rate affect the flow of money in the market. It is&nbsp;a powerful arm of the Indian monetary policy that can regulate the country's money supply, inflation levels, and liquidity.

Das said that the MPC decided, by a majority of 5 out of 6, to continue with its stance of "withdrawal of accommodation". The MPC will take further decisions "promptly and appropriately as required",&nbsp;he added.

While keeping the interest rate intact, Das said that headline inflation remains above RBI's target of 4 per cent and expected it to remain so during the rest of the year.

The inflation projection has been slashed marginally to 5.1 per cent from an earlier estimate of 5.2 per cent for the current financial year. He said retail inflation has been below the upper band of 6 per cent for the last two years.

Borrowers whose loan tenures increased due to back-to-back hikes may now consider making partial or full repayment of their loans as the repo rate remains unchanged,"&nbsp;Adhil Shetty, CEO,&nbsp;Bankbazaar.com—one of India's largest online financial service providers,&nbsp;told WION.

<h2>RBI retains FY24 GDP growth forecast at 6.5%</h2>

Meanwhile, the RBI retained the GDP growth projection for the current fiscal year at 6.5 per cent, on the back of supportive domestic demand conditions.

In April, the central bank had marginally revised upwards the 2023-24 GDP growth projection to 6.5 per cent, from its earlier forecast of 6.4 per cent.

India's economy grew 6.1 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2022-23, pushing up the annual growth rate to 7.2 per cent, as against the 7 per cent anticipated earlier.

Das said the higher rabi crop production in 2022-23, the expected normal monsoon, and the sustained buoyancy in services should support private consumption and the overall economic activity in the current year.

The government's thrust on capital expenditure, moderation in commodity prices and robust credit growth are expected to nurture investment activity, said the Monetary Policy Statement, 2023-24.

Weak external demand, geo-economic fragmentation, and protracted geopolitical tensions, however, pose risks to the outlook, it added.

"Taking all these factors into consideration, real GDP growth for 2023-24 is projected at 6.5 per cent with Q1 at 8 per cent, Q2 at 6.5 per cent, Q3 at 6 per cent, and Q4 at 5.7 per cent, with risks evenly balanced," the governor said.

RBI&nbsp;Governor&nbsp;Shaktikanta Das&nbsp;said that CPI headline inflation is projected at 5.1 per cent for FY2023 after taking into account a normal monsoon in the country.&nbsp;

“All is well for Kharif crops. Uncertainiltuy however remain on special and temporal distribution of monsoon, and Al Nino. Taking into account all factors and assuming a normal monsoon, CPI headline inflation is projected at 5.1 per cent for 2023-24," Shaktikanta Das said.&nbsp;

He said that the Indian economy and financial sector come out as strong and resilient.&nbsp;“The domestic&nbsp;macroeconomic&nbsp;fundamentals are strengthening. The current account deficit is expected to have moderated and remain eminently manageable in 2023-24. The rupee remained stable since January this year and India’s&nbsp;foreign exchange&nbsp;reserves stood at $595.1 billion as on June 2," he added.&nbsp;
