<p>A recent study discovered that on the hottest days, the chances of hospitalisation nearly doubled for people with metabolic disorders such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, compared to days with more comfortable temperatures.</p>

<p>The research, which examined hospital admissions due to high temperatures over more than 10&nbsp;years in Spain, revealed that extreme heat disproportionately affected people with these health conditions.</p>

<p>"There are a number of reasons to explain this. For example, in people with obesity, heat loss responses work less efficiently, as body fat acts as an insulator, making them more susceptible to heat disorders," said Hicham Achebak, a researcher at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, as cited by PTI.</p>

<p>More than 1,000 slave labourers likely died on British soil during World War II under Nazi rule, according to a <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/review-into-the-number-of-prisoners-who-died-on-alderney-during-the-nazi-occupation">review</a> that found hundreds more deaths&nbsp; than previously recorded in historical documents, as reported by the Guardian newspaper.</p>

<p>The labourers on Alderney faced severe conditions including starvation, long hours, dangerous work, beatings, torture, inadequate housing, and sometimes execution. The review dismissed claims of thousands of deaths on the island and refuted comparisons to Auschwitz, establishing a revised death toll through an expert panel commissioned by Eric Pickles, the UK’s Holocaust envoy, trying to address conspiracy theories about Alderney's wartime history.</p>

7 Secret Foods That Help in Fighting Depression

Note: While these foods can complement a healthy lifestyle, if you're experiencing symptoms of depression, it's important to seek professional medical advice and support. A qualified healthcare provider can provide personalised guidance and treatment options tailoured to your specific needs.

Contains curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can improve mood and alleviate depression.

Rich in probiotics that support gut health, which is closely linked to mood and mental health (e.g., kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir).

Has been shown to have antidepressant effects, likely due to its high levels of carotenoids and B vitamins.

High in tryptophan, an amino acid that helps produce serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood.

Rich in vitamin B6 and tryptophan, which help produce serotonin, the "feel-good" neurotransmitter.

Contains quercetin and kaempferol, which can reduce inflammation and promote better mental health.

High in selenium, which is essential for brain health and has been linked to reduced symptoms of depression.

5 Unique Signs That Your Body Gives When There’s a Heart Problem

Sudden, clammy, or cold sweats unrelated to physical activity or heat can be a sign of a heart attack. These sweats often accompany other symptoms like chest pain or discomfort.

Feeling nauseous, having indigestion, or experiencing a loss of appetite can also sometimes be early signs of heart issues, especially in women

Besides chest pain, pain or discomfort in the neck, jaw, throat, upper abdomen, or back is an indicator. This pain may radiate from the chest and can be a sign of heart problems, particularly in women.

Feeling overwhelmingly tired or fatigued, even after adequate rest, can sometimes indicate heart failure or other cardiovascular conditions.

Swelling in the legs, ankles, feet, or abdomen due to fluid retention indicates heart problem, caused by the heart’s inability to pump effectively.

5 Easy Tricks to Make Your Curry Leaf Plant Grow Faster and Healthier

Sprinkle a small amount of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) around the base of your plant once a month. Magnesium is essential for chlorophyll production and can help the plant produce lush, green leaves.

Add used coffee grounds to the soil around your curry leaf plant. Coffee grounds are rich in nitrogen and can improve soil structure, making it more fertile and better for plant growth.

Bury banana peels near the base of the plant. Banana peels are rich in potassium, which promotes strong root development and improves overall plant health.

Crush eggshells and mix them into the soil or water your plant with eggshell water (soak crushed eggshells in water overnight). Eggshells add calcium to the soil, which can help strengthen the plant’s cell walls and prevent blossom end rot.

Spray your plant with a diluted neem oil solution every few weeks. Neem oil is a natural pesticide that helps protect the plant from pests and diseases while also acting as a growth stimulant.

<p>Istanbul's famous red and white trams, loved by both locals and tourists for over a century, are about to be replaced by modern streetcars. These historic trams have become synonymous with Istiklal Avenue, the city's most popular shopping street, which stretches 1.4 kilometres (0.9 miles) on Istanbul's European side.</p>

<p>First introduced in 1914, the original trams have undergone regular maintenance and updates to preserve their historical charm. Despite these updates, the trams have retained their vintage appearance.</p>

<p>The new battery-powered trams are designed to maintain the classic look of their predecessors, featuring wooden floors and reversible seats. Instead of rear-view mirrors, these trams are equipped with two cameras on each side, providing drivers with better visibility and allowing them to drive while seated.</p>

Istanbul's famous red and white trams, loved by both locals and tourists for over a century, are about to be replaced by modern streetcars. These historic trams have become synonymous with Istiklal Avenue, the city's most popular shopping street, which stretches 1.4 kilometres (0.9 miles) on Istanbul's European side. First introduced in 1914, the original trams have undergone regular maintenance and updates to preserve their historical charm. Despite these updates, the trams have retained their vintage appearance.
