A lot of teachers in Scotland have asked students to use gender-neutral titles when speaking to them.

Children, who are just four or five years old, have been encouraged to use pronouns like "they" and "them" when addressing the classroom staff.

These titles are being used by people who identify themselves as non-binary, which means neither male nor female regardless of their sex.

According to the figures from councils, at least 86 teachers, classroom aides and teaching assistants were seen using Mx titles and not Miss, Mrs, Ms or Mr.

The City of Edinburgh Council alone had 44 teachers using gender-neutral titles, which was the highest number ever recorded.

<h2>Here's how critics and teachers reacted&nbsp;</h2>

Critics said that "contested ideology" should not be brought inside the classrooms by the teachers.

Speaking about it, Scottish Conservative spokeswoman for children and young people, Roz McCall, said, "These sort of fringe issues are a distraction from making sure our children are getting the best possible start in life and are not made to feel uncomfortable."

"Teachers should not be bringing contested ideology, which has no more basis than astrology, into classrooms," Marion Calder of the campaign group For Women Scotland added.

A mother said that she got to know that teachers are using Mx after some signed achievement certificates reached their homes. She added that&nbsp;when she raised her concerns, her&nbsp;points were&nbsp;dismissed by the school.

"My initial response to the head asking why I had a problem with “Mx” was because we are telling small children something that is false – you get to choose your gender – and we are forcing a very dangerous ideology onto very young children, with no discussion with parents," said the mother, The Daily Mail reported.

“Also, when I asked what [pronoun] the teacher gets the children to refer to [them] as he said ‘I don’t know, I haven’t asked’. These are activist teachers and it should not be happening,” she added.

"Titles like 'Mx'&nbsp;confuse primary school children, no one knows how to pronounce it and too many teachers use it as a conversation starter to introduce their non-binariness or 'gender identity'," stated Parent Watch Scotland, another campaign group.

"How are children to believe anything a teacher says if they lie about something so fundamental? ‘And what happens if a child or their parents push back? Will the child be disciplined for holding to science and reality?," Calder added.

After the iconic bullet train, Japan is now constructing a rare "conveyor belt road" which will connect Tokyo to Osaka and will probably leave the rest of the countries wondering if they can match them technologically.

The automated cargo transport corridor is also called an "autoflow road" and will spread some 320 miles between Tokyo and Osaka.&nbsp;

This road will not be a moving walkway but will facilitate the movement of robotic pallets carrying cargo from one destination to another.

"We need to be innovative with the way we approach roads," said Yuri Endo, who is a senior deputy director at Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, while speaking to The Associated Press.&nbsp;

After the vehicles reach their destinations, automatic forklifts are expected to load and unload the cargo. According to the transport ministry, the automated network will be able to do the work of 25,000 truck drivers every day.

Japan to create a 'conveyor belt road' connecting Tokyo and Osaka

Scientists have come up with a radical plan for stopping the melting of massive Antarctic glaciers, which can lead to catastrophic flooding on the US East Coast.

The researchers have said that by installing a giant&nbsp;underwater curtain, they can thicken the artificial glaciers with seawater or they can cool the bedrock to mitigate warm waters from entering the Thwaites Glacier, also called the "Doomsday Glacier".

The&nbsp;Thwaites Glacier has been melting at an accelerated speed because of climate change&nbsp;and is likely to raise global sea levels by 10 feet, with some fearing that coastal cities like New York,&nbsp;Charleston, Atlantic City, and Miami will be flooded.

To avoid this catastrophic flooding, researchers headed by the Climate Systems Engineering Initiative at the University of&nbsp;Chicago published a report in which they called the proposed idea a "major initiative".&nbsp;

Professor of geophysical sciences and co-author of the white paper, Douglas MacAyeal, said, "Our argument is that we should start funding this research now, so that we aren't making panicked decisions down the road when the water is already lapping at our ankles."

<h2>Here's how researchers plan to save 'Doomsday Glacier'</h2>

In the new report, one proposal said that seawater can be pumped on the surface of the Doomsday Glacier where it will freeze because of cold air temperatures and thicken the glacier. However, the idea comes with its risks and costs, warned the authors.

The seawater's salinity can damage the ice's structural integrity and energy is required for pumping large volumes of seawater.

UK startup Real Ice has been working on the idea of pumping seawater since 2019. Earlier, the field trials showed promising results in Canada, however, its deployment at a large scale will cost around $6 billion per year and need enormous energy input.

Scientists also proposed other geoengineering solutions for stopping the melting of the glacier.

According to some experts, the ideas are "radical" and said that geoengineering "would be difficult or impossible to achieve and draw focus away from the more necessary&nbsp; conversation of reducing carbon emissions."

Climate economist at the Columbia Climate School, Gernot Wagner, said, "When we talk about glacial geoengineering, we need to tell the truth, which is that it's not a solution to climate change - at best, it's a painkiller."

Taking to X, the woman shared that she booked a cab on the Ola app from the pickup station of the airport after she reached there at 10:30 pm (local time).

However, a driver - who was not assigned to her - reached out to her and offered her a ride.

The woman, mistaking him for an Ola driver, got inside the car but was startled when she saw that the driver did not request the mandatory OTP which is needed in the Ola app.

The driver then asked her to enter the destination in his Maps app and claimed his official app was not working. During the ride, the driver asked for extra fare, which she refused.

He then suggested that she get transferred to another cab, if she wants to pay the original fare. The woman felt threatened by the driver's behaviour and asked him to return her to the airport pickup stand.&nbsp;

In a shocking discovery, the scientists have now hinted that "The Two Maidens" who have been found tragically clutching each other in the ruins of Pompeii were probably gay lovers.&nbsp;

The people of Pompeii had died tragically after Mount Vesuvius erupted 2,000 years ago and their preserved bodies have been telling tragic tales of their final moments.&nbsp;

The bodies hugging each other were given the name "The Two Maidens" because they were trapped in an eternal embrace.

However, the bodies' new DNA analysis suggested that probably the pair needs a new name.

<h2>Here's what scientists found</h2>

In the new DNA analysis, the researchers from the Max Planck Institute have found that at least one, if not both of them, was a man.

One of the authors of the study, David Reich said, "A pair of individuals thought to be sisters, or mother and daughter, were found to include at least one genetic male. These findings challenge traditional gender and familial assumptions."

Even though the true nature of their relationship is unclear, as per experts they can be gay lovers.

Superintendent of the Pompeii archaeological site Massimo Osanna said, "The fact that they were lovers is a hypothesis that cannot be dismissed."

Earlier, it was believed that the two of them were mother and daughter, two sisters or lovers. However, the new discovery that one of them was a man has challenged this theory.

In the study, the researchers stated, "CT scanning of skeletal elements preserved within the casts led to an age estimate of 14–19 for individual 21 and a young adult age for individual 22."

The experts had even earlier said that their relationship can "never be verified".

"When this discovery was made, that they were not two young girls, some scholars suggested there could have been an emotional connection between the pair," said Professor Stefano Vanacore, who headed a research team which examined the pair back in 2017.&nbsp;

"But we are talking about hypotheses that can never be verified. What is certain is that the two parties were not relatives, neither brothers nor a father and son," he added.

In a shocking incident, a Chinese woman died after undergoing six cosmetic surgeries in a span of 24 hours after which her family filed a lawsuit against the clinic and sought 1.2 million yuan (US$168,000) as compensation.&nbsp;

The woman, who belonged to a rural area in Guigang, Guangxi province in southern China, had gone to a clinic in Nanning on December 9, 2020.&nbsp;

The woman had taken a loan of more than 40,000 yuan (US$5,600) for financing six cosmetic procedures.

On the afternoon of December 9, the woman spent five hours on double eyelid surgery and a nose job.

After this, she went through a liposuction procedure on her things and got fat injected in her face and breasts which also continued for five hours the next morning.

However, when the woman was discharged, she suddenly collapsed in front of the lift in the clinic.&nbsp;

The woman was taken to The Second Nanning People’s Hospital where doctors failed to save her.

In the autopsy report, it was mentioned that the woman died from “acute respiratory failure due to pulmonary embolism after liposuction”.

<h2>Family sues the clinic over woman's death</h2>

When the woman died, she had an eight-year-old daughter and a four-year-old son. The woman's family members filed a case against the clinic at Jiangnan District People’s Court of Nanning City and sought compensation of 1.18 million yuan (US$251,000).

“The clinic offered me 200,000 yuan as compensation. I said that at least one million yuan should be given for a person’s death. Even if we split the responsibility, it should still be at least 500,000 yuan. I refused their private settlement, and I said we should just go to court," said Liu’s husband.

After the hearings, the court was finally asked to pay 590,000 yuan ($82,181) to the woman's family as compensation.

“The assessment concluded that the clinic failed to assess the risk of venous blood embolism, identifying certain errors in their medical practices that were causally related to the patient’s death,” said Li Shan, who is a judge at Jiangnan District People’s Court of Nanning City.

<h2>Here's how netizens reacted to the incident</h2>

The state media CCTV reported the incident which garnered more than 50 million views on social media and also received severe backlash.

“Six surgeries in one day? Does the clinic have no common sense? Did they not consider the risk of complications, especially with liposuction, which can easily lead to blood clots?” said a person on the social media platform.

“This clinic has no conscience! They persuaded a rural woman to take 40,000 yuan in loan for cosmetic surgery. This is outrageous! And then they botched the procedures and even haggle over compensation. Are they even human?” wrote another.

“Dying in the pursuit of beauty. This is really beyond extreme,” said a third netizen.&nbsp;

The woman was taken to The Second Nanning People’s Hospital where doctors failed to save her. In the autopsy report, it was mentioned that the woman died from “acute respiratory failure due to pulmonary embolism after liposuction”. Family sues the clinic over woman's death When the woman died, she had an eight-year-old daughter and a four-year-old son. Here's how netizens reacted to the incident The state media CCTV reported the incident which garnered more than 50 million views on social media and also received severe backlash. They persuaded a rural woman to take 40,000 yuan in loan for cosmetic surgery. This is outrageous! And then they botched the procedures and even haggle over compensation. Are they even human?” wrote another. “Dying in the pursuit of beauty. This is really beyond extreme,” said a third netizen. (With inputs from agencies)

As Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump clinched a historic victory in the US presidential elections, the global financial markets were rattled and left many investors in a tizzy.

Before weighing the implications of this economic shake-up, let's first understand the impact of Trump's victory on market indexes, currencies and commodities.&nbsp;

<h2>How global markets reacted to Trump's victory?</h2>

As soon as the results were out, the US shares jumped to a record high on Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrial average&nbsp;rallied nearly 4 per cent, the S&amp;P opened 2 per cent higher and amid this market euphoria, the dollar recorded its biggest jump in eight years.&nbsp;

Some of the stocks saw a surge in price, especially Elon Musk's owned Tesla and Trump Media. Musk remained a staunch supporter of Trump throughout the election campaign and has a high chance of holding a position in the government.&nbsp;

Even though Tesla shares rallied on the market, stocks of other electric automakers went into a slump because of Trump's decision to consider putting an end to a $7,500 tax credit for EV purchases&nbsp;on coming&nbsp;to power.&nbsp;

The small-cap stocks also performed well, as the Russell 2000 index jumped to around 5 per cent, which was its largest rise in one day in two years. Bank stocks also joined the celebrations as they soared in the market.&nbsp;

In the world of cryptocurrency, bitcoin recorded a historic all-time high because of Trump's position to prioritise the volatile cryptocurrency.

Predicting the global market's future in Trump 2.0, Samir Bahl, CEO - Investment Banking, Anand Rathi Advisors, said to WION, "Investors can be optimistic that a pro-business administration can lead to favourable market conditions and potentially promising returns in the medium term. This administration is also likely to seek decisive settlements to ongoing global conflicts currently impacting global supply chains and market sentiments."

The global markets also remained impacted by the import duties, which included a 60 per cent tariff on imports from China and a 10 per cent universal tariff on imports from all foreign countries.

The victory of Trump initially triggered a sell-off because of which oil fell by more than $2, however, it turned positive later in the day. According to predictions of Citi, Trump's second term is likely to exert pressure on oil in 2025 and Brent crude is likely to remain at an average of $60 per barrel, because of increased oil supply and potential trade tariffs.&nbsp;

However, speaking to WION, Siddharth Maurya, Founder &amp; Managing Director of Vibhavangal Anukulakara Private Limited, said that election results' "immediate effect would be felt in the case of fossil fuels, infrastructure and domestic manufacturing. Even though there are very high expectations from the presidential policies, it has been established that core drivers of returns would be the Fed policies and the global economy."

<h2>The see-saw between US elections and the Indian stock market</h2>

The euphoria of Trump's victory was also reflected in the Indian stock market, which rallied through the day and closed in green. Nifty rose to 24,484.05 and the benchmark BSE Sensex closed at 80,378.13, which marked a 901.50 point, or 1.13 per cent jump from the previous day.&nbsp;

However, the excitement fizzled out in the stock market the next day&nbsp;as investors tried to weigh both the positive and negative implications of the Republicans being at the helm of US politics on the Indian market.

Speaking about the implications of Trump's victory on the Indian market, Maurya said, "The positives could be the strengthening of bilateral relations, Indian IT companies benefitting if US corporates increase spending or US companies increasing the pace at which they move their supply chains from China towards India. There could be some uneasy situations as well because of limitations on immigration policies that impact the provision of IT services, trade restrictions, and world market instability on account of US-China relations."

The Indian rupee also witnessed an all-time low of 84.3775&nbsp;amid outflows from local equities and expectations that the change in regime would boost the dollar.

So what lies ahead for the Indian market? "The Indian equities market can expect to continue its strong performance after the long overdue correction. While there could be some pressure on India-US trade negotiations, under the Trump administration, U.S.-China tensions could further accelerate the China + 1 policy driving both investors and companies to shift their focus toward India as an attractive alternative market," Bahl explained.

"Nonetheless, investors must remain cognizant of policy impacts on international trade, especially with China, and expected market fluctuations arising from geopolitical choices," Maurya warned.

However, the policies of Trump are likely to catalyse a robust cycle of investment and development in the country's tech and real estate landscapes.&nbsp;

Emphasising how Trump 2.0 will impact real estate, Samir Bhandari, Co-founder &amp; CFO, hBits - a fractional ownership platform of commercial real estate, said to WION, "As U.S. firms ramp up spending in response to a favourable economic environment, Indian IT companies are likely to benefit from increased demand for services, driving expansion in Global Capability Centres. This growth will not only enhance job creation but also stimulate the commercial real estate sector in tech hubs like Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai."&nbsp;

In a successful test, a supersonic aircraft—which has the nickname “Son of Concorde”—came close to the speed of sound Mach 1 on Tuesday (Nov 5). This aircraft can now help travellers fly between New York and London in only three and a half hours.

This 201-foot-long single-seat XB-1 test model by American company Boom Technology reached 499 knots, which is around 574 miles per hour, in the milestone test, which took place at 23,015 feet&nbsp;above Mojave, California.

This was the seventh planned flight, which was carried out by former Navy test pilot Tristan “Geppetto” Brandenburg since March to “progress toward supersonic flight” as per the company, and the test has brought them close to restoring the rapid form of air travel safely and effectively.

The aircraft’s predecessor, the Concorde, could fly from London to New York in just three hours before it retired in 2003.

Both United Airlines and American Airlines have finalised a deal to fly the groundbreaking planes if the Overture project of Boom, which includes a planned fleet of full-sized passenger supersonic jets, takes off, as per the company, which has the backing of the US Air Force.

“I’ve long believed that Overture is the rightful successor to Concorde,” former British Airways Chief Concorde Pilot Mike Bannister said, as per The New York Post.&nbsp;

“After experiencing Overture’s flight deck, which is incredibly well designed and delightful to fly, my excitement and enthusiasm for this aircraft have only intensified," he added.

<h2>The speed of flight can reach Mach 1.7, says Boom</h2>

According to Boom, the flight speed can reach Mach 1.7, which is beyond current testing and can reduce travel time by 20 per cent.

Speaking about the historic comeback of US presidential election winner&nbsp;Donald Trump after winning the US presidential elections, entrepreneur-turned-politician Vivek Ramaswamy on Wednesday (Nov 6) said that he won the elections because the country needs a "ba***s commander-in-chief" right now.

The 78-year-old Trump not only clinched victory in the November 5 presidential elections in both the electoral college and popular votes but also clinched a majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

"Here's the reason why Donald Trump won by the largest margin of any president in modern history. He's not an ideologue. He's not a policy wonk. He's an American badass. They tried to DQ him, jail him, kill him (twice). None of it worked. Our self-appointed 'betters' in the media misunderstood him, underestimated him, doubted him," said Ramaswamy on Wednesday (Nov 6).

"But not once during this campaign did Trump misunderstand, underestimate, or doubt himself. As everyone at Mar-a-Lago celebrated around him last night, I watched him unfazed, with full conviction that he was exactly where he was destined to be," he added.

"He's just like our nation in that way. We've always believed it was our manifest destiny to be exceptional, to be the greatest nation on Earth, to show the world what's possible for humanity to achieve, even when other countries doubted us. Some still do today," Ramaswamy further said.&nbsp;

"But they're wrong. Trump's comeback is the American comeback. Our nation deserves a ba***s commander-in-chief right now and that's exactly what we got. Funny how well our democracy actually works," added the former Republican presidential aspirant.

In the social media post, the "proud" mother shared the moment when the toddler was urinating on the table, which was filled with breakfast that included eggs, vegetables and steamed buns.&nbsp;

To everyone's shock, &nbsp;the mother replied, “Yes, we did eat it.” She added that the grandparents of the baby did not mind it and continued eating along with other family members.&nbsp;

The mother added that the boy did not wear disposable nappies at home very often since they are not the best for urination.

“During the day, we rarely put disposable diapers on him, usually just using a cloth or letting him go bare. We do not cover it because it is better not to interrupt the child while he is urinating,” said the woman.

She even appreciated her timely photo-taking skills and said, "Mum’s snapshot skills are quite good.”

Expressing his disapproval over the attack, Canadian Prime Minister&nbsp;Justin Trudeau said, "The acts of violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton today are unacceptable. Every Canadian has the right to practice their faith freely and safely."

India cancels consular camps in Toronto after no guarantee of 'minimum protection' from security agencies

One of the most iconic Egyptian relics, the death mask of King Tutankhamun, perhaps was never made for the late pharaoh, according to a new study carried out by a team from the University of York in the UK.

According to the researchers, the mask was actually created for a high-status female who most likely was the stepmother of King Tut, whose body was never discovered.&nbsp;

According to a hypothesis of the researchers, the sudden death of Tutankhamun may have led to his face getting grafted on the top of the mask's true owner.

Speaking about the mask, Professor Joann Fletcher said, "This mask was not made for an adult male pharaoh; when the gold was compared, [they found] the face is made of completely different gold to the rest."

The new theory was finalised by the researchers after they re-examined the 1922 excavation's historical records and found mentions of body modifications which did not match with the ancient Egyptian tradition.

In one document it was stated, "Honed in on one long-overlooked feature... the decidedly pierced ears on the death mask."

According to the researchers, although the pharaohs wore earrings, similar modifications were not done on the death mask.&nbsp;

The piercings were only made on the masks of children and queens.&nbsp;

The revelations were made by Professor Fletcher in a newly-released documentary in which she said that she is sure the death mask was not designed specifically for King Tut.

<h2>All about&nbsp;Tutankhamun's step-mother&nbsp;Nefertiti </h2>

In 2015, Egyptologist Nicholas Reeves first proposed the idea and claimed that the golden mask belonged to the young king's stepmother, Queen Nefertiti.

Nefertiti married Tutankhamun's father, Akhenaten, however, her tomb has not been discovered as of yet.

King Tutankhamun&nbsp;was just nine years old when he ascended to the Egyptian throne and ruled from 1332 BC to 1323 BC.

British archaeologist Howard Carter found the mask&nbsp;in the lavish tomb of Tut in 1922 in the Valley of the Kings on the west bank of the Nile River.

In those times, a death mask was created for both pharaohs and locals to honour the deceased and set up his/her connection with the spiritual world.

The mask of the pharaoh was made of gold or silver, while those of the locals were made of wood or clay. The mask used to be similar to the face of the deceased.
