US sanctions Iranian entities linked to its drone production

<p>Days after Indian foreign minister S Jaishankar spoke with his Iranian counterpart Amir Abdollahian, a Kerala native and the sole woman among 17 Indians aboard an Israeli-affiliated container ship seized by Iran's military&nbsp;safely landed at the&nbsp;Cochin International Airport on Thursday (Apr 18).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, the ship MSC Aries was seized near the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf of Oman by Iran's Revolutionary Guards on April 13, after which India engaged with Iranian authorities to seek the safety and release of the 17 Indian nationals aboard the vessel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed her safe return in an official statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"With the concerted efforts of Indian Mission in Tehran and the Iranian Government, Indian deck cadet Ms. Ann Tessa Joseph from Thrissur, Kerala, who was among the Indian crew members of container vessel MSC Aries, has landed safely at the Cochin International Airport today afteranoon. <p>The eruptions at the&nbsp;Ruang volcano occurred multiple times since Tuesday (Apr 16). As the magma rose to the surface and erupted, it produced various volcanic materials, including lava flows and ash clouds. The delicate situation prompted the authorities to elevate the alert level to the second highest.</p>

<p>Heruningtyas Desi Purnamasari from Indonesia's Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) reportedly told Reuters that recent earthquakes on the island triggered the eruptions. This resulted in the emission of dangerous "explosive hot clouds" reaching heights of 1.8 km.</p>

<p>"We must clear the island because we anticipate there could be more eruptions. No activity is allowed within four kilometres from the crater," Purnamasari said.</p>

<p>Indian couple, Shoi Ghoshal and her husband, Debashis Chakrabarty, recounted their harrowing experience in a conversation with a Western media outlet. The duo detailed to BBC how they sought refuge in a backroom in a bid to fortify themselves with cardboard boxes alongside dozens of others.</p>

<p>Ghoshal also described the initial confusion within the store. She said that there were sounds of commotion leading to the realisation of a grave threat. But they thought it was a fire at the shopping hub.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But she recalled “people were saying someone is stabbing rampantly”. “We went into a backroom, a storeroom, and used boxes to barricade ourselves in,” she added.</p>

<p>As per Ghoshal, there were about 20 to 25 people who were seeking cover at the storeroom. As they huddled together, Ghoshal recounted the anguish of an elderly woman separated from her husband outside.</p>

<p>Amid distress, the group maintained contact with authorities. Later, they received instructions to remain calm and await rescue. They were eventually evacuated through the emergency exit. Upon their exit, they saw many police cars positioned there.</p>
