Both of us are concerned about the recent events in West Asia, and we emphasised the importance of preventing further escalation of violence and hostilities."</p>

<p>An official Iranian readout stated: "The President (Ebrahim Raisi) stressed the need to follow up and accelerate the implementation of the agreements between Iran and India, including the Chabahar Port Development Plan, and the need to compensate for the delay in the implementation of commitments."</p>

<p>Nigerian police on Sunday (Jan 21) rescued five sisters who were held captive after being abducted in Abuja.</p>

<p>Six sisters were kidnapped by armed men at the beginning of the year who barged into their residence which was located just 15 miles (25 kilometres) from Abuja city centre, according to their family members.</p>

<p>The girls were rescued by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police and the army on Saturday night (Jan 20) in the Kajuru forest in neighbouring Kaduna State.</p>

<p>"The FCT Police has rescued the victims and reunited them with their families," a police statement said.</p>

<p>One of the family members of the sisters confirmed their rescue to news agency AFP.</p>

<p>The abducters had demanded ransom for the release of the girls and when the deadline for it passed, they killed 21-year-old Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar which triggered a public outcry.</p>

<p>At the end of a kilometre-long, booby-trapped&nbsp;tunnel&nbsp;in the Gaza Strip, Israeli soldiers discovered cramped cells where the military said&nbsp;Hamas&nbsp;kept about 20 hostages.</p>

<p>They found a holding area, five narrow rooms behind metal bars, toilets, mattresses, and even drawings by a child hostage who was freed during a November truce, military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.</p>

<p>The tunnel was rigged with blast doors and explosives, he said.</p>

<p>"According to the testimonies we have, about 20 hostages were held in this tunnel at different times under harsh conditions without daylight, in dense air with little oxygen, and terrible humidity that makes breathing difficult," he said.</p>
