The newly passed law, supported by 400 out of 415 lawmakers present, redefines marriage as a union between two individuals rather than specifically between a man and a woman.

It ensures that LGBTQ+ couples have equal rights to access marital tax benefits, inherit property, and provide medical consent for incapacitated partners.

Thailand already boasts legislation prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation, positioning it as one of Asia's most LGBTQ+ inclusive nations.

US&nbsp;Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Tuesday it was a moral and strategic imperative to protect Palestinian civilians in the war between Israel and Hamas and that the humanitarian catastrophe in besieged Gaza was getting worse.

Austin was speaking during a meeting with Israel Defense Minister Yoav Gallant at the Pentagon as relations between US&nbsp;President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sank to a wartime low.

"In Gaza today, the number of civilian casualties is far too high and the amount of humanitarian aid is far too low," Austin said, sitting across from Gallant, a key architect of the military campaign against Hamas in response to the militants' Oct. 7 cross-border rampage that Israel says killed 1,200 people.

"Gaza is suffering a humanitarian catastrophe and the situation is getting even worse," Austin said, using some of his most forceful language so far.

The Pentagon later said Austin's discussion with Gallant was frank and direct.

The Israeli defense minister also met for a second day with US&nbsp;national security adviser Jake Sullivan, who told Gallant that Israel needs to increase the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza, White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Gallant later held talks with CIA Director William Burns, recently returned from talks in Qatar seeking an elusive deal for Hamas' release of more than 130 hostages still held in Gaza.

Speaking to reporters, Gallant, apparently seeking to cool U.S.-Israeli tensions, said he stressed the importance of U.S. ties to his country's security and of maintaining Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region, including its air capabilities.

"We share 100% of the values and 99% of the interests with the United States," Gallant said.

Biden has come under pressure from human right groups and some fellow Democrats to condition further military aid on Netanyahu holding off on a threatened offensive in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians are sheltering. The U.S. president has resisted doing so.

After seconds, the entire bridge fell into 50 feet of frigid water flowing below. Just before the incident, a Mayday call was issued by the ship as it warned that it had lost power and the authorities scrambled to close traffic movement on the bridge to save lives.

In the CCTV footage, the ship was seen going dark twice minutes before the crash happened. After the collision, a puff of smoke was seen rising from the ship.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Biden said that all the cost to rebuild the bridge will be paid by the federal government.&nbsp;

The government of the United States announced sanctions against Chinese hackers on Monday (Mar 25) after alleging that they were targeting the critical infrastructure of the nation while working for the government spy agency of China.&nbsp;

The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control said that they have issued sanctions against Wuhan Xiaoruizhi Science and Technology Company Ltd. It stated that the company has been working as a front for the Chinese Ministry of State Security that has “served as cover for multiple malicious cyber operations”.

In the unsealed indictment, the United States accused China of heading a state-backed hacking programme spanning years.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland said that the hacking operation is proof of “the ends to which the Chinese government is willing to go to target and intimidate its critics”.

<h2>US attributes threats to cyber hacking group APT 31&nbsp;</h2>

Two Chinese nationals - Zhao Guangzong and Ni Gaobin - were named by the treasury office for using cyber operations to target critical infrastructure sectors of the United States, including&nbsp;defence, aerospace and energy.&nbsp;

The US officials said that these threats were part of the cyber hacking group APT 31, which presents an “advanced persistent threat”.&nbsp;

US prosecutors stated that APT 31 was part of a group&nbsp;managed by the Chinese Ministry of State Security, the intelligence agency of the country, based in the city of Wuhan.

The list includes state-sponsored intelligence officers and contract hackers. “APT 31 has targeted a wide range of high-ranking US government officials and their advisors integral to US national security,” said the department, in a press release.

Chinese citizens Zhao, Ni, and five other hackers were charged with conspiring to carry out computer intrusions and wire fraud by the US Department of Justice.&nbsp;

The agency claimed that these Chinese citizens have been involved in a 14-year-long cyber operation “targeting US and foreign critics, businesses and political officials”.

“Today’s announcements underscore the need to remain vigilant to cybersecurity threats and the potential for cyber-enabled foreign malign influence efforts, especially as we approach the 2024 election cycle,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said.

Officials claimed that those sanctioned had hacked their systems and may have got access to the Electoral Commission's information regarding tens of millions of UK voters.

The New Zealand government also raised concerns regarding the involvement of the Chinese government in a cyber hack on New Zealand's parliament in 2021.&nbsp;

Both Australia and New Zealand criticised the cyber hacking activity.

“Foreign interference of this nature is unacceptable, and we have urged China to refrain from such activity in future,” said New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters, in a statement.

The government of the United States announced sanctions against Chinese hackers on Monday (Mar 25) after alleging that they were targeting the critical infrastructure of the nation while working for the government spy agency of China. The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control said that they have issued sanctions against Wuhan Xiaoruizhi Science and Technology Company Ltd. It stated that the company has been working as a front for the Chinese Ministry of State Security that has “served as cover for multiple malicious cyber operations”. In the unsealed indictment, the United States accused China of heading a state-backed hacking programme spanning years. US Attorney General Merrick Garland said that the hacking operation is proof of “the ends to which the Chinese government is willing to go to target and intimidate its critics”. The US officials said that these threats were part of the cyber hacking group APT 31, which presents an “advanced persistent threat”. US prosecutors stated that APT 31 was part of a group managed by the Chinese Ministry of State Security, the intelligence agency of the country, based in the city of Wuhan. The list includes state-sponsored intelligence officers and contract hackers. “APT 31 has targeted a wide range of high-ranking US government officials and their advisors integral to US national security,” said the department, in a press release. Chinese citizens Zhao, Ni, and five other hackers were charged with conspiring to carry out computer intrusions and wire fraud by the US Department of Justice. The agency claimed that these Chinese citizens have been involved in a 14-year-long cyber operation “targeting US and foreign critics, businesses and political officials”. “Today’s announcements underscore the need to remain vigilant to cybersecurity threats and the potential for cyber-enabled foreign malign influence efforts, especially as we approach the 2024 election cycle,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said. The New Zealand government also raised concerns regarding the involvement of the Chinese government in a cyber hack on New Zealand's parliament in 2021. Both Australia and New Zealand criticised the cyber hacking activity. “Foreign interference of this nature is unacceptable, and we have urged China to refrain from such activity in future,” said New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters, in a statement. US District Judge Charles Breyer in San Francisco said that Musk's case against the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) was retaliatory in nature.&nbsp;

Judge Breyer said it was "evident" that Musk's X Corp had sued CCDH in an attempt to punish the NGO for its criticism of X.

"It is impossible to read the complaint and not conclude that X Corp is far more concerned about CCDH's speech than it is its data collection methods," he added.

X Corp, as per Reuters, has expressed its intention to appeal the decision, which is seen as a setback for Musk, known for championing free speech.&nbsp;

Since acquiring Twitter in October 2022, Musk has faced criticism for allowing hate speech and misinformation on the platform.

Imran Ahmed, CEO of CCDH, welcomed the decision, stating that it reaffirms the group's right "to hold accountable social media companies for decisions they make behind closed doors."

Roberta Kaplan, a lawyer for CCDH, remarked that the ruling shows Musk "cannot bend the rule of law to his will."

In the lawsuit filed last July, X had accused CCDH of violating its user contract by cherry-picking data and creating false reports about hate speech and extremism on X.&nbsp;

Calling it a "scare campaign", X had alleged that the non-profit was driving away advertisers and caused tens of millions of dollars in damages.

It also argued that the non-profit could have left the platform if it didn't like Musk's policy changes.

The court ruled that CCDH could not have anticipated Musk's takeover of Twitter and subsequent policy changes when it signed up with the platform.

However, Breyer agreed that X's desire to staunch criticism was "entirely reasonable from a business point of view."

The ruling also dismissed X's claims against the European Climate Foundation (ECF), which was accused of conspiring with CCDH. ECF's lawyer welcomed the dismissal, calling Musk's lawsuit "frivolous".

"By being able to stop cars from coming over the bridge, these people are heroes. They saved lives last night," he said.
