<p>A disturbing video has emerged showing an elderly man from West Virginia, who fell victim to a telephone scam, brandishing a gun at an innocent Uber driver and allegedly shooting her to death.</p>

<p>The recently released dashcam footage from the car of 61-year-old driver Loletha Hall shows 81-year-old William Brock from South Charleston approaching her with a gun around 11:20 am&nbsp;on March 25, as reported by WKEF.</p>

<p>When Hall attempted to enter her vehicle and leave, Brock allegedly engaged in a struggle with her and fatally shot her.</p>

<p>According to the news outlet, the individual had fallen victim to a phone scam, where his incarcerated relative had threatened him and his family and demanded money.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Additionally, the driver had received communication from the same individual or an accomplice, directing her via the Uber app to collect a package from Brock's residence, as stated by the Clark County Sheriff's Office to WKEF.</p>

<p>As she arrived, Brock purportedly insisted that the unarmed woman reveal the identity of the person who had contacted her and seized her phone, preventing her from departing.</p>

<p>“Give me that phone!” he can be heard saying in the distressing video.</p>

<p>“Stop! Stop or I’ll call 911!” Hall yells back at Brock.</p>

<p>Brock then shot the woman three times before calling 911, officials said. Brock reportedly told the dispatcher that he shot someone who was trying to rob him.</p>

<p>First responders rushed Hall to Miami Valley Hospital, where she died during surgery.</p>

She also did not issue any demands, aside from inquiring about the package she had been directed to collect through the Uber App,” the sheriff’s office spokesperson told TV channel WHIO in a statement.</p>

<p>“As Hall did not pose an active threat at any point during the incident, and Brock did not seek assistance from authorities despite wielding a firearm and firing multiple shots at Hall, resulting in her injury, he was arrested and charged with murder,” the report said.</p>

<p>Brock is being held on a $200,000 bond after pleading not guilty last week in Clark County Municipal Court.</p>

<p>According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Cohen has engaged two of Australia’s foremost defamation lawyers, Patrick as his solicitor and Sue Chrysanthou as his barrister.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The daughter of one of the victims, identified as Ashlee Good killed during the attack, was taken to the hospital in serious condition but is now stable, said health officials.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Six, including the infant girl, remained hospitalised following the assault, with two women in critical condition, said a spokesperson for New South Wales Health.</p>

<p>The government of the United States on Tuesday (April 16) said that it will impose new sanctions on Iran's missile and drone programme in the wake of its weekend attack on Israel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Washington DC further stated it is hoping that its allies and partners will follow with parallel measures.</p>

<p>"These new sanctions and other measures will continue a steady drumbeat of pressure to contain and degrade Iran's military capacity and effectiveness and confront the full range of its problematic behaviours," said US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, in a statement.</p>

<p>Jake Sullivan said that that sanctions would be unveiled “in the coming days” and added the US government has been co-ordinating with Group of Seven nations as well as other allies for a “comprehensive response.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sullivan stated that they are expecting their allies and partners to impose similar sanctions. He said that the White House is working with US Central Command as well as the Department of Defence to improve early warning systems and air and missile defence across the Middle East.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sullivan said he anticipates similar sanctions from allies and partners and that the White House is working with the Department of Defense and US&nbsp;Central Command to bolster air and missile defence and early warning systems throughout the Middle East “to further erode the effectiveness of Iran’s missile and UAV capabilities.”</p>

<h2><strong>EU to work towards expanding Iran sanctions: Borrell&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said that some EU member states have appealed to expand sanctions against Iran and the diplomatic service of the bloc will start working on the proposal.</p>

<p>He added that the sanctions seeking to stop the supply of Iranian drones to Russia will be expanded and it will also include the provision of missiles and cover deliveries to proxies in the Middle East.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Germany, France and other EU member countries have been supporting the&nbsp;proposal of sanctions against Iran.</p>

He added that the sanctions seeking to stop the supply of Iranian drones to Russia will be expanded and it will also include the provision of missiles and cover deliveries to proxies in the Middle East. <p>Extreme weather conditions shocked people in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as heavy rains and subsequent flooding troubled residents across the nation. Hailstones, lighting strikes and huge thunderstorms caused havoc as many residential and commercial buildings experienced power outages&nbsp;and stoppage of water supply in Abu Dhabi and Dubai - regions known for their arid climate and intense summer heat.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Tuesday, Dubai's major international airport started diverting all incoming flights as heavy rains lashed the city. Earlier, the operations were briefly halted at the world's busiest air hub for international passengers because of the storm. It was expecting more than 100 flights on Tuesday evening.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dubai International Airport (DXB) added that departures will continue to operate.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Due to the continued exceptional weather event currently being experienced in the UAE, Dubai International is temporarily diverting inbound flights due to arrive this evening... until the inclement situation improves," a Dubai Airport spokesperson said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>France marks the 80th anniversary of the 1944 Normandy landings in June. During the ceremony, many world leaders are expected to attend, but Putin will miss it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Moscow was slapped with sanctions. It shredded ties with the West.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As a result of the invasion, the International Criminal Court in 2023 issued an arrest warrant for Putin on the war crime accusation of unlawfully deporting Ukrainian children.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This could be one of the reasons why Putin will not travel to France.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Russia will, however, be invited to be represented so that the importance of the commitment and sacrifices of the Soviet peoples, as well as its contribution to the victory of 1945, can be honoured," it added.&nbsp;</p>

A&nbsp;report by Reuters citing&nbsp;emergency services said that 60 others, including&nbsp;three children, have been injured.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In an update, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko had earlier&nbsp;said that the attack killed at least 13 people and left more than 60 injured, as&nbsp;rescue operations continue.</p>

<p>The&nbsp;strike also damaged four&nbsp;buildings, a hospital, an education facility and dozens of private cars, he added in a statement on Telegram.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Regional leader Vyacheslav Chaus says civilians were killed and injured when three missiles hit close to the city centre.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chaus told&nbsp;Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne that&nbsp;Russia carried out the attack with three Iskander cruise missiles.&nbsp;</p>
