Courts will then have up to two months to apply the law, expected to annul the legal records of hundreds of officials and activists involved in Catalonia's separatist push since 2011.

In a survey by El Mundo newspaper in March, 62% of respondents across&nbsp;Spain&nbsp;rejected the amnesty, but in the Catalonia region alone most voters - 48% - supported it.

Sanchez put forward the amnesty proposal last year in exchange for support in parliament from two Catalan separatist parties - Junts and Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya - for him to stay on as premier after an inconclusive election.

Former Dutch intelligence chief and political outsider Dick Schoof said on Tuesday he will uphold the rule of law and govern for all after being proposed as prime minister of the incoming right-wing cabinet.

He said he had been asked by the four parties that will form the new government to lead it - not only by Geert Wilders' nationalist PVV, the clear winner of the Nov. 22 election.

"I am not affiliated to any party, I am not standing here in the name of the PVV... I want to be the prime minister of all the Dutch," Schoof, who has had no previous experience in parliament or in government, told reporters.

Election winner Wilders this month reached an agreement on forming the government with three other conservative parties, after ruling himself out of the top job.

Schoof, 67, is currently the senior official at the Dutch ministry of justice, after having led the intelligence agency AIVD and anti-terrorism agency NCTV for years. He was the head of the Dutch immigration service in the early 2000s.

"I guess it will be a surprise for a lot of people that I'm standing here... It's actually also a surprise for me," he told reporters.

In its governing plan published on May 16, the coalition said it would aim for the "strictest-ever asylum regime" with stronger border controls and harsher rules for asylum seekers, setting up a potential clash with the EU before even taking office.

Schoof will head a cabinet that the four parties have said would have looser ties to parliament. It could take weeks to put together, with the parties all negotiating over the portfolios and responsibilities.

Once he has formed a government, set to be the most right-wing in the Netherlands in decades, he will be sworn in by the king and officially become prime minister.

"Congratulations Dick. Dick Schoof has a great track record, is not a member of any party and thus stands above the parties, is honest and, on top of it, very friendly," Wilders reacted on social media X.

That government will, however, have to stick to the agreement reached by the four parties, which is aiming to secure exceptions on EU asylum and environmental rules.

"I think that, in all my positions, the common thread has always been the functioning of democratic rule of law and that will help me in my function as prime minister," Schoof said, adding that outgoing prime minister Mark Rutte is for him "a form of inspiration in the way he handles things".

Far-right leader Wilders last week said he expected the new government to be operational by end-June.

Besides his experience at the intelligence and anti-terrorism services, Schoof has also worked on reforming the police force.

WION: What is this centre all about? How does it further the relationship between the two countries?

Tim Thomas: The centre is a very bold and exciting addition to the architecture of the Australia, India relationship. Its fundamental reason for being is to support the transformation of the economic relationship between Australia and India, built on mutual understanding and deep&nbsp;People-to-People ties. It is a unique investment amongst India's economic partners, for the Australian Government to uplift the relationship between Australia and India.&nbsp;

WION: So, its primary focus is investment and, of course, the people-to-people relationship?

Tim Thomas: I would say so, I would describe the economic relationship as well as the bilateral trade to investment. I would say there's great opportunities for more joint ventures and innovative collaboration between Australian and Indian companies. And I would say at the top of the pyramid is knowledge partnerships, that is what we would like to see because that will underpin the long-term nature of relations.

WION: How do you see the relationship between the two countries, we have seen high-level engagements between the leadership of the two countries and we have seen strong people to be to connect as well. So how would you characterise this relationship?

Tim Thomas: I would say it is very strong at the government-to-government level, I think we've had incredible levels of ministerial engagement across all of our key portfolios. WION: What kinds of practical outcomes your centre is looking at in terms of furthering India's relationship?

Tim Thomas: So, if I break them into about four areas, if I may, the economic relationship. So bilateral trade today is growing at the back of the interim free trade agreement, but it should be much higher. So, we would like to see more growth in bilateral trade, but also a more diversified trade. I think it's still very concentrated on certain goods and services. I would say the other areas, of course, on the public understanding, what is the community's understanding of India to Australia and the Australian community's understanding of what's happening in India. So that's a second area where I think there's great opportunity for improvement. I think we can harness more of the networks and the expertise of our Indian diaspora, particularly what I call the successful leading lights of the diaspora. We want to see greater growth in the relationship. And fourth is a fantastic opportunity to expand our connections culturally with our creative industries and sports.

WION: Essentially, in the relationship, what do you foresee, in like the next one year and expectation from the new government

Tim Thomas: I think there has to be greater investment from key sectors and when I say key sectors, in fact, the Australian Government is doing an updated economic engagement effort through what is known as the future roadmap of economic engagement between Australia - India, that will prioritise some key sectors in tourism, in premium foods and wine, but I would say also in critical minerals, in energy transition, in renewables, advanced manufacturing and agriculture. So, I would like to see more two-way investments in the next year. I would say that has to start with building relationships, and building familiarity with each other's markets in those areas.&nbsp;

I would say the other area is, of course, we would love to see a comprehensive economic cooperation agreement concluded in the next, within the next 12 months. If that is possible, because we think that will facilitate greater investment led economic engagement and expand our relationship in critical minerals and in education.&nbsp;

The idea is to transfer ownership of coastal land to states, municipalities and private occupants, which critics say could damage environmental protection efforts and block beach access.

A senate public hearing on Monday sparked outrage on social media.

"Let's pressure the senators to vote against this proposal," said Brazilian actress and environmental activist Laila Zaid in an Instagram video viewed almost one million times.

The furore comes as Brazil is tackling historic flooding in its south, which experts attribute to climate change.

Leticia Camargo, who coordinates a working group on marine conservation in Congress, told AFP the proposal could "lead to greater occupation of marine land right at a time when climate change will make storm surges and coastal erosion increasingly frequent."

She said the move could also open up "pressure for very large real estate interests."

The proposal has already been approved by the lower house, and Camargo said it would likely be approved by the Senate Constitution and Justice Committee, where the right-wing opposition has a majority.

It then heads to the full Senate for a vote.

Camargo says she is positive the pressure from the public could stall the amendment.

Flavio Bolsonaro said on X it was "fake news" that the aim was to privatize beaches.

Daniel Capecchi, a constitutional law professor at the Federal University of &nbsp;Rio de Janeiro, said that if it went to a vote, there was a "considerable probability" the measure would be approved.

“The rapid changes in gravitational force over the 4.6 seconds duration resulted in an altitude drop of 178ft (54m), from 37,362ft to 37,184ft. This sequence of events likely caused the injuries to the crew and passengers,” the statement further said.

Photos of the cabin revealed gashes in the overhead panels, oxygen masks and panels hanging from the ceiling, and luggage scattered around.&nbsp;

One passenger reported that some people's heads had slammed into the lights above the seats, breaking the panels.

Singapore Airlines said they were cooperating fully with the investigation.
