<p>This year’s theme is ‘United for Land. Our Legacy. Our Future’. The global observance of the day will be hosted by the Government of Germany in Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The event will also mark the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), a legally binding international agreement, adopted in 1994, linking environment and development to sustainable land management.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The agreement has sought to address issues faced particularly by those who live in arid, semi-arid, and dry sub-humid areas, also known as drylands.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The opinion poll also revealed that about 26 per cent of respondents were undecided about who would they vote for. Around&nbsp;53.6 per cent of the respondents said they would definitely vote in the upcoming presidential election while&nbsp;17.4 per cent have not yet decided, and 29 per cent of the respondents said they would not take part in the election.</p>

<p>Former President Donald Trump’s administration in 2020 added the Russian Imperial Movement (RIM) and its leaders to the list after years of largely targeting Islamist and far-left movements overseas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The group’s members and leaders have carried out violent attacks against political opponents, protestors, journalists, and other perceived adversaries,” the US State Department said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The US also alleged that members of the movement have collected and prepared weapons and explosive materials, as well as organised training in violent tactics&nbsp;on behalf of the group, in a bid to further their goals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The United States remains deeply concerned about the racially or ethnically motivated violent extremist threat worldwide and is committed to countering the transnational components of violent white supremacy,” said the US State Department.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It added that the group is being designated for having committed or attempted to commit “acts of terrorism that threaten the security of United States nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States.”</p>

<p>The designation would freeze any US-based assets that the group or its three leaders have and they would also be blocked from using the American financial system.</p>

<p>Noury was given a life sentence in Sweden for his involvement in the deaths of thousands of political prisoners while serving as the deputy prosecutor at the Gohardasht prison outside of Tehran.&nbsp;</p>

The summit aims to build on the progress made in previous COP meetings, with a heightened emphasis on tangible outcomes. India is seen as a major active player on the issue of climate change. Various measures it has taken include leading the International Solar Alliance (ISA) initiative that aims to promote the use of solar energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Delhi has also set ambitious targets to reduce its carbon footprint, including a pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070 and to get 50% of its energy from renewable resources by 2030.
