According to the airline, a total of 254 passengers were on board the flight during the turbulence.&nbsp;

Passenger Sammy Solstad told CNN that he felt lucky to be alive after experiencing the turbulence, and that "everyone on the plane was praying and asking to just land instead of flying over the open sea."

According to the New York Post, passengers were accommodated in a hotel overnight and were booked flights by Friday morning.&nbsp;

The American Airlines flight 298 took off from Honolulu International Airport at around 12:20 for Los Angeles. The pilots were supposed to take a turn while taking off, but failed to so, putting them in a collision path with the Koʻolau mountain range, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The air traffic controller ordered the pilots to undertake an “expedited climb” to reach a safe height and fly above the mountain range.&nbsp;

In an audio cited by hawaiinewsnow.com, the air traffic can be heard telling the pilots, “Number 298 turn right, expedite your climb through terrain and then turn right."

<h2>American Airlines averts crash</h2>

FAA also issued a statement later, saying the manoeuver "ensured the aircraft remained safely above nearby terrain."

“An air traffic controller instructed American Airlines Flight 298 to perform an expedited climb after the crew did not make the assigned turn while departing from Honolulu International Airport,” the FAA said in a statement.&nbsp;

According to officials, if the aircraft failed to perform the dramatic elevation gain, it could have crashed into the &nbsp;Koʻolau mountain range on the island of Oʻahu.

An American Airlines spokesperson told CNN that the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System, which alerts the crew to a potential collision, did not go off during the incident. They added that the crew "complied with controller instructions."

The FAA has opened an investigation into the incident.&nbsp;

Prior to that, the opposition member told the CEC that the official results of the vote did not reflect voters’ “true choice”.&nbsp;

However, Kalandarishvili responded by saying that the use of “pressure, bullying, and personal insults” proved that there was no evidence of vote rigging.

Later, as the meeting resumed, Kalandarishvili was seen with a bandaged eye.&nbsp;

The Patels were travelling on foot to reach a van driver in northern Minnesota in 2022, navigating the cold farm fields as the temperature dipped.&nbsp;

Currently, two men accused of running a smuggling ring on either side of the US-Canada border are awaiting trial, scheduled for Monday (Nov 18).

The accused were identified as Harshkumar Patel alias "Dirty Harry", an experienced smuggler, who was coordinating things from Canada, and Steve Shand, a driver recruited by Harshkumar, was on the US side.&nbsp;

Both were accused of being part of a sophisticated human smuggling operation, which has been feeding a fast-growing population of Indians illegally living in the US.&nbsp;

However, both have pleaded not guilty.&nbsp;

On his last trip in January 2022, Shand was about to pick up 11 more Indian migrants, including the Patels. However, only seven survived the extreme cold.

The smuggling network was reportedly charging up to $90,000 per person. Meanwhile, many families like the Patels sold their farmlands or used heavy savings to fund these journeys.&nbsp;

It wasn’t until much later that the Canadian authorities found the Patel family who had died due to the extreme cold.

They were among a group of 11 Indians who were trying to enter the US through a near-empty stretch of the Canadian border. The Patels were travelling on foot to reach a van driver in northern Minnesota in 2022, navigating the cold farm fields as the temperature dipped. The accused were identified as Harshkumar Patel alias "Dirty Harry", an experienced smuggler, who was coordinating things from Canada, and Steve Shand, a driver recruited by Harshkumar, was on the US side. Both were accused of being part of a sophisticated human smuggling operation, which has been feeding a fast-growing population of Indians illegally living in the US. However, both have pleaded not guilty. On his last trip in January 2022, Shand was about to pick up 11 more Indian migrants, including the Patels. However, only seven survived the extreme cold. The smuggling network was reportedly charging up to $90,000 per person. Meanwhile, many families like the Patels sold their farmlands or used heavy savings to fund these journeys.
