<p>Mali's junta chief on Wednesday sacked civilian Prime Minister Choguel Kokalla Maiga and the government, days after Maiga issued a rare criticism of the military rulers.</p>

<p>The West African country, plagued by jihadist and separatist violence, has been led by the military since back-to-back coups in 2020 and 2021.</p>

<p>Maiga, who was appointed by the military after the second coup, had been seen as isolated in his position as prime minister, with little room for manoeuvre.</p>

<p>His dismissal creates further uncertainty in an already troubled context.</p>

<p>"The duties of the prime minister and the members of the government are terminated," according to a decree issued by Colonel Assimi Goita that was read out by the secretary general of the presidency, Alfousseyni Diawara, on state television ORTM.</p>

<p>Some key junta figures such as Defence Minister General Sadio Camara and Minister of Reconciliation General Ismael Wague are members of the government.</p>

<p>In June 2022, the junta promised to organise elections and hand over power to civilians by the end of March 2024, but later postponed elections indefinitely.</p>

<p>A woman based in the US state of California alleged that US President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet pick for Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth blocked her from leaving a hotel room before sexually assaulting her, CNN reported citing a police report. She even "remebered saying 'no' a lot".&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The woman was only&nbsp;identified as "Jane Doe" in&nbsp;the 22-page long report released by the city attorney’s office of Monterey, California on Wednesday (Nov 20).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The alleged assault took place after a Republican women's conference at the Hyatt Hotel in Monterey, California, on October 8, 2017.</p>

<p>The report further highlighted some alleged details of the incident, stating how Hegseth was "very intoxicated" and was "giving off a creeper vibe".&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Hegseth had repeatedly said that their encounter was consensual and he made sure the woman "was comfortable with what was going on between the two of them.”</p>

<p>Seems like, seven years after the alleged incident, such questions about Hegseth could hinder his nomination.&nbsp;</p>

<p>His attorney has said that Hegseth later entered into a settlement agreement with his accuser in 2023, with an undisclosed monetary payment and a confidentiality clause.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hagseth said that his encounter with the woman was consensual, however, the lawyer said he was doubtful that the woman was about to accuse him during the #MeToo movement which might have have taken his Fox News job away.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“This police report confirms what I’ve said all along, that the incident was fully investigated, and police found the allegations to be false, which is why no charges were filed,” Timothy Parlatore, Hegseth’s attorney, told CNN on Wednesday night.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the report, the accuser recalled Hegseth telling her that he was “a nice guy” during the exchange.</p>

<p>However, in Hegseth's statement to police, he had no memory of the altercation by the pool.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The next memory Doe had was being in an unknown room with Hegseth. "Doe remembered having her phone and Hegseth inquired to whom Doe was texting,” the report said. “Hegseth took her phone from her hands. Doe stated she got up and tried to leave the room, but Hegseth blocked the door with his body. Doe remembered saying ‘no’ a lot.”</p>

<p>As per the report, Doe’s next memory was getting back to her room where she got into bed with her husband.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hegseth’s account said that Doe led him by the arm back to his hotel room, which surprised him because he initially had no intention of having sex with her, the report said, adding that he found it "odd" that Doe did not leave his room.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hegseth, according to the report, “continuously asked Doe if she was okay because he did not want Doe to get in trouble.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>He further told police that Doe "showed early signs of regret" the next morning, but did not explain further.&nbsp;</p>

<p>South Korean police confirmed Thursday (Nov 21) that a cybercriminal group from the North was behind a multimillion-dollar cryptocurrency heist in 2019. In November of that year, cybercriminals targeted South Korean crypto exchange Upbit and stole Ethereum tokens worth some US$50 million.</p>

<p>It is the first time that North Korea's role has been confirmed. In total, 342,000 tokens were stolen and now their worth is estimated to be over a billion dollars.</p>

<p>Following the attack, South Korea's cyber terror division launched an investigation that ran for years and has now revealed that Lazarus Group and Andariel threat groups related to the North carried out the theft. South Korean police tracked the perpetrators by identifying the cybercriminals' IP addresses and the movement of the virtual assets in collaboration with the FBI, according to authorities.</p>

<p>Earlier in October, law enforcement agencies in South Korea were able to recover tokens worth $470,000 from the cybercriminals by working in tandem with the Swiss authorities, as the stolen currency was stored in the banks of the European country.</p>

<p>Concerns are mounting regarding North Korean cryptocurrency theft as more cases have been unearthed by investigators over the recent years. In 2022, the country’s groups were blamed for the theft of some $620 million worth of ethereum.</p>

<p>In the footage, Ishiba was seen using his smartphone while remaining seated when other leaders like Malaysia's Anwar Ibrahim and Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau reached out to him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When the leaders reached out to him, PM Ishiba looked up and shook hands with them but did not stand up.</p>

<p>"So embarrassing," wrote one social media user in Japanese.&nbsp;</p>
