Trump slams George Clooney over op-ed calling on Biden to quit US presidential race: 'Get out of politics...'

Following George Clooney's op-ed in which he urged United States President JoeBiden to withdraw from the presidential race, presumptive Republicannominee Donald Trumpon Wednesday (July 10) said thatthe American actor and filmmaker shouldstay out of politics.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, "So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act."

“He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are. What does Clooney know about anything?” he wrote.

"Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!" the former US president added.

In anop-ed, published in the New York Times, the Hollywood actor who is also a longtime Democrat wrote, "We are not going to win in November with this president."

“I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he’s won many of the battles he’s faced,” he added.

“But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can,” Clooney continued.

“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe 'big F-ing deal'Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate,” said the American actor.

Clooney also said that even though Biden stepping aside would be messy, it would be worth it.

“Joe Biden is a hero; he saved democracy in 2020. We need him to do it again in 2024,” Clooney wrote.

“He uses the Democrat ‘talking point’ that Biden, the WORST President in the history of the United States, has ‘saved our Democracy,’” the presumptive Republican presidential candidate said.

“No, Crooked Joe was the one who WEAPONIZED Law Enforcement against his political Opponent, who created the most devastating INFLATION in the history of our Country, who Embarrassed our Nation in Afghanistan, and whose crazy Open Border Policy has allowed millions of people to illegally pour into our Country, many from prisons and mental institutions,” Trump wrote.

“Crooked Joe Biden didn’t save our Democracy, he brought our Democracy to its knees,” he added.

Following the incumbent US president's disappointing performance against his predecessorin the presidential debate last month, an increasing number of Democrats have publicly urged the president to withdraw from the race. However, the White House and Biden's supporters have insisted that the incumbent will not drop out of the race.
