
Sunday was the last day of the 12thAirshowChinathat opened on Tuesday in Zhuhai.
During the display that lasted for about five minutes, four J-20 stealth fighter jets performed a series of aerobatic maneuvers, including speedy pull-up, diving, and spinning.
When two J-20s opened their weapon bays andshowed full magazines of missiles, it received raucous cheers from the excited spectators.
It was the first time thatChinaofficiallyshowed the jet's full internal weapons configuration.
"It's totally amazing! The biggest surprise today is that the weapon bays popped open," said a spectator.
Many aviation enthusiasts regarded the display as a tribute to the 69th founding anniversary of the ChineseAirForce.
"It's amazing, to be able to witness the rapid development ofChina'sAirForce, isn't it?" said another spectator.
J-20 pilot Chen Qiqiang said after the challengingshowthat he could feel the maneuverability of the fighter himself when he, who is quite experienced, was piloting it.
"Its capabilities in gathering data, integrating information, striking beyond visual range, and evading radar detection, allshowits advantage as a next-generation fighter. It is a sharp weapon to achieve or retainairsupremacy," Chen said.
Besides J-20s, theAirForce brought some otheraircraft from its strongest arsenal to the country's biggestairshow.
Whileshowing its growth, theAirForce has ambitious plans for its future.
"The overall technical level of theairforce's equipment has never been so close to world-leading levels of aerospace technologies. We expect more progress in the future," said Wang Zhonghua, director of the general planning division of the Armament Department of theAirForce.
The biennialairshowhas attracted 770 exhibitors from 43 countries and regions around the world.
