In a hopeless yet creative attempt, a US man from Pennsylvania tried his luck at love by putting himself out there on a billboard.
Dave Cline, a 28-year-old data manager from West Philadelphia paid over $1,000 to rent a billboard for himself, in the hope of finding a partner and escaping his single, lonely life, as per ABC affiliate WPVI.
The large colourful sign currently hangs in his neighbourhood and features an image of a smiling Cline giving up a thumbs-up sign. The ad reads: "Want to go on a DATE with Dave?"

The sign also lists a couple of ‘fast facts’ about Cline, which include that he "has normal hobbies," "owns a cat (pictured)” and "can cook (well)." As the guy owns a billboard only to advertise himself as a prospective boyfriend, it means he also has money!
In an interview with WPVI, Cline said the billboard "was just supposed to be funny for the most part," but that it has led to some messages, "which is great."
On his Instagram, Cline confirmed he is indeed single in a July 24 post writing, “It may shock you to know, but the guy who bought a billboard as a funny hehe haha really is actually 100% single!".

“If you live in Philadelphia (or anywhere with central AC) feel free to send me a message! My only request is that if you want to reach out, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t send me spam, threats, or anything weird! I have literally no idea if this will be popular at all or totally forgettable in 2 days, so just have fun and feel free to ask me out,” he added.

One user posted on Instagram: “This is the most clever idea! Best of luck to you, Dave! PS you’re a hit in the cat groups on FB right now”
