Since February 20, over 90 per cent&nbsp;of the 13,000 resident trainee doctors in the nation have participated in walkouts over the government's proposal to increase the number of medical school admissions from 3,000 to 2,000 starting in 2025.

With 2.6 doctors per 1,000 persons in 2022, South Korea's 52 million inhabitants had a doctor-to-population ratio that was much lower than the 3.7 average for OECD countries.

Previous governments have devised measures to tackle deepening shortages of doctors in essential services including paediatrics and emergency units, as well as clinics outside the greater Seoul area, but their efforts fell apart amid strong opposition from the medical sector.

As per reports by NASA, Asteroid 2024 EA3 is just one of the millions of asteroids that orbit the Sun, and is located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

The Center for Near-Earth Object Studies or CNEOS, an organisation that keeps a check on celestial substance like asteroids and comets, revealed that the asteroid will pass by Earth at a distance of 3.14 million kilometres.

It is travelling in its orbit around the Sun at a speed of approximately 38754 kilometres per hour, which is much faster than an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM)! It is just one of the two asteroids that have been designated to pass Earth, alongside Asteroid 2024 EL4.

Asteroid 2024 EA3 fit in to the Apollo group of Near-Earth Asteroids, which are Earth-crossing space rocks with semi-major axes larger than Earth's. These asteroids are named after the enormous 1862 Apollo asteroid, which was found in the 1930s by German astronomer Karl Reinmuth.

How big is it?

While talking about the size, the asteroid is approximately 150 feet wide, NASA says and it can be compared to a large airplane. However, it is not expected to actually impact Earth's surface and cause any damage to life or property but it will come very close to the planet and that is why it has been named as a Near-Earth Asteroid (NEA).

While the statement from South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff did not specify the exact type of missile, North Korea has been testing a new intermediate-range hypersonic missile powered by a solid-fuel engine.

In March, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un overlooked a ground test of a solid-fuel engine for a new type of intermediate-range hypersonic missile to develop national defence capability, as reported by the state media.

Japan said the missile appeared to have fallen outside of Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ). 
Notably, Russia and North Korea are developing closer military links, and the United States and its major Asian allies South Korea and Japan are expanding security cooperation.
