West Bengal by-polls results Maniktala: Supti Pandey (TMC) Bagda: Madhuparna Thakur (TMC) Ranaghat Dakshin: Mukut Mani Adhikari (TMC) Raiganj: Krishna Kalyani (TMC) The TMC now holds 215 seats in the 294-member West Bengal assembly. Additionally, it has the backing of three BJP legislators who have defected to the TMC but have not yet resigned from their positions. BJP's official seat count in the West Bengal assembly has decreased from 77 in 2021 to 71. In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the TMC had won 29 out of 42 seats in West Bengal, up from 22 in 2019. On the other hand, the BJP's seat tally dropped to 12 from 18 in 2019. The Trinamool candidate&nbsp;Gita Rani Bhunaia won by a margin of 64,192 votes.&nbsp;

Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate Rita Mondal secured 41,987 votes, losing out to Gita Rani Bhunaia who secured 1,06,179 votes.

Though the BJP candidate secured only 37,476 votes, the party acquired a substantial increase in the number of votes in this election.

The BJP received about 5,000 votes in the 2016 Assembly elections.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted expressing his happiness on the significant rise in the BJPs vote share in Sabang.
