Visibly happy at the trends so far, Vivek spoke of the work put in to make the film that had him researching for the role, understanding the temperament of the most powerful Indian at the moment and following Modi’s politics.&nbsp;

Vivek said, “They can’t stop me or Modi Ji. Tomorrow when people will celebrate Modiji’s victory, our film will release and they will know his story.”

On why he chose to work on the film, Vivek said, “I think it’s an incredible journey. Let's take a time machine and travel to the 1950’s- 60’s Vadnagar station where a kid serves tea in clay cups. Can you imagine meeting this kid and saying that he will become the prime minister?”

He further said, “It was fascinating for me, I have seen his journey from Gujarat chief minister to the prime minister. I have believed in his politics. I connect him on a political level. Before starting on the film when I researched his life, I met his neighbours, I found out that his mother who loved him a lot had to wash other people’s utensils. Coming from that, Modiji still never chased money. Dhandho should have been in his blood but still, he never chased money. Philanthropy is done on a full stomach bere was a man who came from nothing and yet always gave everything to the nation. I wish that our film inspires people to see that.”&nbsp;

The film is slated for release across 40 countries, on May 24, a day after results of the general elections are announced.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari feels that the biopic will leave a positive impact on the youth of the country and praised the biopic's producer Sandeep Singh.

"The new generation will get inspired and motivated through this film. I believe Sandeep took a great initiative to spread preaching of PM Modi," Gadkari said.

Producer Singh, in turn, called Gadkari his 'lucky charm.'&nbsp;

"He had launched posters of my successful biopics - Mary Kom and Sarabjeet. Therefore, I believe Nitin Gadkari is my lucky charm," Singh said.

However, actor Vivek Oberoi said he is disappointed at the zero support he received from the film industry, "I didn't receive any support from Bollywood because the industry is so not united," he said.

The Election Commission had on April 10 stayed the release of the biopic, a day ahead of its original scheduled release date on April 11, which coincided with the commencement first phase of the general elections in the country.

The poll commission said the film disturbs the level-playing field.

After filmmakers approached the Supreme Court, the apex court directed the EC to watch the film and reconsider its decision.

A total of seven officials watched a special screening and submitted its report to the top court, which then rejected a plea challenging the EC's decision and said it will not interfere in the matter.

The movie is directed by Omung Kumar and includes Vivek Oberoi, Zarina Wahab, and Barkha Bisht Sengupta.&nbsp;

Omung Kumar launches new poster of his film, 'PM Narendra Modi'

'PM Narendra Modi' has now got a new release date. The Vivek Oberoi starrer will now be releasing on 24th May- a day after the results of Lok Sabha Polls 2019 are declared.&nbsp;

The film has been courting controversy ever since the first trailer of the film came out. The makers had initially planned to release the film on 12th April- a day after the first phase of elections began. But certain members of the Congress Party raised an objection and filed petitions in Bombay and Delhi High Court to stall the release of the film. They even appealed to the Election Commission to intervene.&nbsp;

Since the election end on 19th May, Ssingh said it will "only have 4 days promotions before its release".

"I hope now nobody will have any problem with the film and we are hoping for a smooth release," he added.

The film has actor Vivek Anand Oberoi playing Modi.

A plea filed against the release of the film ‘PM Narendra Modi’ will be heard in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. Actor Vivek Oberoi who stars in and as the current PM in the film spoke about the impending case and his political ambitions to WION in an exclusive conversation.

On his film facing roadblocks and release date having been shifted from April 5 to 11 (tentatively), Vivek said, “It’s a passion project, something that’s taken an entire team to put this together at this scale. But then to meet this resistance, to be labelled, targetted, attacked -- its painful. I didn’t think that a simple, humble movie would intimidate powerful and important people that they would go all out to get it to shut down. When the High Court supported us on this, they took it to it the honourable Supreme Court.”

Being hopeful for a positive outcome, he said, “There’s a bunch of crazy resources thrown at us. I believe that the fundamental right of freedom to speech and expression will be upheld by the Supreme Court. I believe we will get their blessing and we will release, this time around on the 11th of April.”

Questions have been raised on why the film has been scheduled for a release during the time of elections, Vivek defended the maker’s stance and said, “It's my fundamental right as a filmmaker to make a film that I believe in and to release it at the time when I want. Nobody questions when a film is released on Eid, Christmas or Diwali, then why am I being questioned if I want to release a film on election? Those are festivals that come every once a year, this is a festival that comes every 5 years. It’s a festival of democracy.”

The actor also clarified that the makers went through all formalities to ensure that the film would not face any issue. He said, “The Election Commission has cleared us. We have been through every single due diligence, every single process. We have submitted all (documents) for financial scrutiny and have submitted all that was required. It’s an independent project. After getting clear, there have been these insults and accusations are being hurled left, right and centre.”

He continued, “It’s shocking that people with such gravitas, high political standing that you look up to would turn around and throw baseless allegations at you -- at you being some stooge, prop up or back channel funding and random stuff like that. It’s pretty sad.”

Vivek did not dodge any questions and was sporting when asked if this was all being done at the time of elections because he has some political ambitions, of contesting elections or campaigning this time around. He laughed and said, “Right. Let’s put into perspective. Why would I want to be an MP, when I can be the PM on screen?”

While many are constantly criticising the programme, there are others who support it. The latest one to appreciate the campaign is Oberoi.

"Why is the opposition afraid, what are they afraid of I think they fear chowkidar ka danda (security guard`s wooden stick)," Oberoi asked.&nbsp; 
The film, which follows Prime Minister Modi from his humble beginnings to his years as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and finally his landmark victory catapulting him as the Prime Minister, recently came under the ECI scanner after Congress and Left parties complained to the poll body saying that it violates the Model Code of Conduct.

Helmed by Omung Kumar who has previously made biopics on Mary Kom and Sarabjit, Kumar spoke on the film not being a “propaganda film” contrary to what many think.&nbsp;

He said, "It's not a propaganda film. Because it's coming out at this point of time, people are talking like that. People release their films on Diwali or Eid. I am releasing my film during this time (election time) because it's the right time for me".&nbsp;

He further added that the film is ready to release now and if it had been ready after the elections, the biopic would have released then.

The director also lauded Vivek Oberoi on playing the role of the current PM. He said he has always been confident of Vivek’s work and that he is a good actor.&nbsp;

The film's poster was launched in the presence of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis in 27 languages. It features Vivek, dressed in a yellow kurta with tricolour in the backdrop. The tagline reads, "Deshbhakti hi meri shakti hai." 
 
Fadnavis said it is great that a film on this scale is being made on Modi "under whose leadership India is not only touching new heights but the hopes and expectations of every citizen of India are being fulfilled." 
 
"I believe the film will be inspirational. We always say Modi's life has been inspirational. He is like a raj-yogi and this film will get that in front of the audience. Vivek, we are very excited. We wish the film releases tomorrow but we know it is going to be a very difficult process and you will have to take it seriously. I have faith and predict that people will be inspired by this film," the CM said. 
 
Actor Suresh Oberoi, Vivek's father, is co-producing the film along with Sandeep Ssingh. The film is yet to go on floors.
