<h2><strong>Venus returns for 24th time</strong></h2>

<p>Now 43, Venus will be participating in her 24th US Open, having won the tournament in 2000 and 2001 in the women’s singles category. Her performance at the US Open has degraded in recent years which has seen her lose in the first round in 2022 and 2020. Her best run at a Grand Slam came in 2017 when she reached the final of the Australian Open. She has also won the US Open twice in doubles with sister Serena in 1999 and 2009.</p>

<p>On the other hand, Wozniacki will also make her much-anticipated Grand Slam return after being handed a wildcard. Wozniacki has been twice runners-up at the US Open, having lost in 2009 to Kim Clijsters and Serena Williams in 2014. Wozniacki’s only Grand Slam title win came in 2018 when she won the Australian Open singles crown.</p>

<p>In the men’s draw, John Isner has been handed a wildcard from the elite group having enjoyed success on hard court. The 38-year-old has been twice quarterfinalists when he reached the last eight in 2011 and 2018.</p>
