Poland's ambassador to India Adam Burakowski on Tuesday said that India and Pakistan have to resolve the Kashmir issue bilaterally.

"We express concern over present tension between India and Pakistan resulting from the proposed change in the status of Jammu and Kashmir. Poland believes that this issue can be resolved only through peaceful means," Burakowski said. 
&nbsp; 
He also said that the strained relationship between India and Pakistan will impact the political and economic scenario of the South Asian region. 
&nbsp; 
"Like the whole European Union, we are in favour to sort out this issue with dialogue," he added. 
&nbsp; 
Burakowski further said that Poland will stand ready to engage in preventing actions if needed.

The Polish diplomat also said that India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is in China at present, had briefed the Polish side about the implications of scrapping Kashmir's special status on August 8.

"On August 7, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called our minister of foreign affairs Jacek Czaputowicz to discuss the issue of scrapping Kashmir's special status and the discussion was very open and cordial," said Polish envoy.

Last week, in a big snub to Pakistan, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) did not take up Pakistani finance minister's letter of August 6 at several meetings written in the aftermath of New Delhi removing the special status for the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan has been trying to internationalise Article 370 issue of Jammu &amp; Kashmir but United Nations security council asked Pakistan to address the issue bilaterally.

This is the first time that Poland has spoken out on the heightened diplomatic tension between India and Pakistan. Poland currently holds the UNSC presidency for August.

With the scrapping of Article 370 over a week old, the Supreme Court today refused to issue directions to the central government on a petition seeking lifting of all restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir.

The petition was filed by social activist Tehseen Poonawala seeking lifting of curfew and other restrictions including blocking of phone lines, internet and news channels.

The government in its argument in court said it was reviewing the day-to-day situation in the new&nbsp;Union Territory.

The three-judge bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra told the petitioner, "We shall wait for the restoration of normalcy, if nothing happens you can back to the court." &nbsp;

Meanwhile, as Pakistan continued to rake up the issue in the international forum, Poland's ambassador to India Adam Burakowski said that India and Pakistan have to resolve the Kashmir issue bilaterally. Poland currently holds the UNSC presidency for August.

In a similar move, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) President Joanna Wronecka had last week refused to comment on Pakistan's letter to the world body regarding abrogation of Article 370 by India.

Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had written to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres claiming abrogation of article 370&nbsp;Jammu and Kashmir had violated the UNSC resolution.

Pakistan had earlier downgraded ties with India and suspended trade relations over the scrapping of Article 370 which gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;
