The incident comes just a month after <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/mumbai-bmc-brings-down-remaining-part-of-damaged-overbridge-203640">a major portion a foot overbridge (FOB) in Mumbai collapsed on March 15</a>. The mishap killed six people, injuring over 30 others.

The ill-fated bridge in South Mumbai connected the area near the Times of India building with the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station.

Civic body authorities Friday brought down the remaining part of the foot overbridge (FOB).

Civic chief Ajoy Mehta, after a meeting with officials concerned of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), had decided to dismantle the entire bridge located near the busy Mumbai CSMT railway station, news agency PTI reported.&nbsp;

"With the help of gas cutters and huge cranes, the entire frame of iron and steel was brought down by evening and was further being cut into pieces to transport them to the godown," local ward officer Kiran Dighawkar said.

Civic officials, however, did not dismantle the ramp of the bridge on the Times of India building side, indicating a new bridge may be built for the convenience of passengers.

Mumbai: Portion of under-construction building collapses; around 3 people feared trapped

At least three&nbsp;people were killed and several injured after an under-construction building collapsed in Karnataka's Dharwad's.&nbsp;The collapse took place in Kumareshwar Nagar on Tuesday evening.&nbsp;

The toll had earlier been reported at two,&nbsp;but authorities recovered a third body Wednesday morning.

News agency ANI said 37 people have been pulled out from the rubble. Other&nbsp;reports had earlier said 40 people had been feared trapped in the rubble.&nbsp;

Around 43 people have been admitted to the Civil hospital while 13 people have been referred to KIMS and SDM hospital, Giridhar Kuknoor, District Surgeon Dharwad said.

Rescue operations continue with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams on the spot.

Karnataka Revenue Minister RV Deshpande said an inquiry will be ordered to investigate&nbsp;the matter further assuring&nbsp;that the injured ones will be treated free of cost.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had earlier said rescue efforts would be conducted on a war footing and had urged locals not to panic.

The incident took place in the morning when three-storey Mhada Chawl located in Motilal Nagar suddenly came crashing down. One of the deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Ramu. He was rushed to a local hospital where the doctor declared him brought dead. 
 
A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has reached the spot, and the rescue operation has been launched. The injured have been admitted Siddharth Hospital for treatment. The condition of those injured is said to be stable.
