Erdogan in a speech said he would declare the ambassadors "persona non grata" while informing that he has asked the country's foreign minister to go ahead with the order.

The US hasn't formally reacted to Erdogan's order as Norway said it hadn't received the order. Last week the FATF had put Turkey on the "grey list" of countries for money laundering and terrorist financing attracting the government's ire.

On Monday, the Turkish Lira which has already hit record lows against the dollar dived further. The FATF directive has already put pressure on Turkey's ability to attract foreign investment even as it struggles amid high inflation.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on Thursday placed Turkey on the "grey list" over money laundering and terrorist financing.

The global financial watchdog said there were "serious issues" over Turkey's financial operation as it failed to combat money laundering and terror financing.

The watchdog said Turkey had agreed on an action plan with the FATF.

The financial watchdog had put Turkey on notice two years as it had found “serious shortcomings". The move is set to hit President Erdogan's attempt to attract foreign investment in the country amid a bleak economic situation.

FATF's president Pleyer announced that Mauritius and Botswana have been removed from the list while declaring that APG, EAG and global network "will closely monitor the situation in Afghanistan, including any changes to money laundering and terrorist financing risks in the country."

The financial body expressed "concern" over the evolving money laundering and terrorist financing risk in Afghanistan.

"We affirm recent UNSC resolutions on situation in Afghanistan and demand that the country not be used to plan or finance terrorist acts," Marcus Pleyer said.

According to a report, Turkey may be “greylisted” by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) since it has reportedly failed to combat terrorist financing and money laundering.

The Financial Times reported that that global financial watchdog may approve the decision to put Turkey on the "grey list".

The London-based newspaper reported that Turkey may join 22 other states in the list which is likely to hit the Erdogan regime's ability to raise international investment for the country. The country's currency the Lira has plunged to a historic low against the dollar amid the economic crisis.
