<h2>What happened?</h2>

Last week, Bristow in the letter to Sunak said that a “permanent ceasefire” in Gaza would save lives and allow aid to reach those in need. However, the UK government has previously supported the idea of “humanitarian pauses” but not backed calls for a complete ceasefire.

The now-former government aide also warned against the “collective punishment” of the people of Gaza “for the crimes of Hamas.” Bristow, who is the Conservative MP for Peterborough, is among a few Tory MPs who have called for a ceasefire in Gaza.&nbsp;

The letter reportedly sent on Thursday (Oct 26) said, “My constituents and I are deeply grieved by the heart-breaking and devastating humanitarian crisis now unfolding in Gaza. Thousands have been killed and more than one million now displaced.”&nbsp;

Bristow, in the letter posted on Facebook also said some of his constituents have been “directly affected” by the ongoing war. “It is difficult to understand how this makes Israel more secure or indeed makes anything better,” said the Tory MP.&nbsp;

The UK government along with several other countries in the West have repeatedly said that Israel has a right to defend itself.&nbsp;

Earlier this month, the UK PM also visited Israel and met with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu and extended support to the country in its “darkest hour” amid its ongoing fight with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.&nbsp;

Sunak has also announced millions of dollars in humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza while addressing the parliament last week.

<h2>Pincher was heavily intoxicated</h2>

After a year-long investigation, commissioner Daniel Greenberg found out that Pincher had groped a then-employee of the House of Lords.

He groped his arm and neck and then his bottom. As per BBC reports, Greenberg also found during the probe that the MP had also groped a civil servant on his bottom and then his testicles.

Pincher was "heavily intoxicated" at the time and remembers "feeling hot and saying to someone ‘I’m alright’," the commissioner wrote.

But he "does not recall any other details about the evening or how he got home," Greenberg added.

The victim told the commissioner that he was deeply affected by the incident and it continues to haunt him and affect his sleep.

The cross-party Standards Committee said Pincher's actions amounted to "sexual misconduct" and his behaviour was "unwanted, upsetting and inappropriate".&nbsp;

In a report after the investigation, MPs on the cross-party standards committee which examines complaints against MPs, concluded Pincher's "profoundly damaging" behaviour "represented an abuse of power".

They further added that his conduct had broken the Commons behaviour code by causing significant damage to the reputation of the parliament.

Their report added that, in a written submission, Pincher had accepted his behaviour "damaged his own reputation and that of the government".&nbsp;

The committee however further added that Pincher declined the suggestion that he had done 'significant damage' to the reputation of the Parliament, further arguing that he was speaking at the club as a former minister rather than as an MP.

Pincher now has 10 days to appeal to an independent expert panel, if he can provide new evidence.

A young female parliamentary researcher has claimed that she was sexually assaulted by a serving Cabinet minister, Daily Mail has reported.

The woman, who worked at No 10 when the incident happened, alleged that she was groped by a Tory MP who has since been promoted to the Cabinet rank.

In an interview to the Sky News's ‘The Open Secret’ podcast, the woman, who has not been identified, said, “I was sexually assaulted by someone who's now a Cabinet minister, and I was in my early 20s and didn't really know how to deal with it.”

“I was super drunk. He's feeding me more wine and I'm already quite obviously tanked. After a while, I was like, ‘you know, what? Would you mind if I just went to bed?’ So, I went to bed,” she said.

“But obviously he didn't leave me alone. And then I woke up the next morning and I realised what had happened,” she added.

According to reports, the former House of Commons staff member later informed her colleagues and the MP she was working for at the time, who encouraged her to report it to the police. But she didn’t choose to press the matter further and also did not lodge a formal complaint to the Conservative Party.

“I was too scared to kickstart that process and risk it spiralling out of control,” she was quoted as saying.

But after the MP was elevated to the Cabinet rank, the woman decided to file a formal complaint.

“I heard that he was going to get a job in Downing Street. I raised it with a number of people. Nothing happened. So I then formally complained to the Cabinet Office. I just felt the responsibility to do it again, partly because the office he's going to be working in is full of women. And I just thought he'd do it again.”

However, she claimed that one of Boris Johnson's aides dismissed her complaint.

The Conservative party is said to have probed the matter, but it was not upheld as there was no footage or witnesses.

Meanwhile, a government spokesman told Daily Mail, “We take allegations of misconduct extremely seriously and there are robust procedures in place to raise concerns. All ministerial appointments also follow established processes.”

Another Conservative MP, John Baron, withdrew support for UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, making him the fourth Tory parliamentarian to do so in the past one week following the publication of Sue Gray report which blamed the PM for allowing parties in Downing Street and Whitehall during Covid lockdown.

Baron, David Simmonds, Angela Richardson and Julian Sturdy joined the other 22 Tory MPs demanding Johnson’s resignation over the “shameful” parties.

Baron, first elected in 2001, said he was withdrawing his support because he believed Johnson had "knowingly" misled parliament —a charge the PM denies.

"Given the scale of rule-breaking in No. 10, I cannot accept that the prime minister was unaware. Therefore his repeated assurances in parliament that there was no rule-breaking is simply not credible," he said in a statement.

"Having always said I would consider all the available evidence before deciding, I'm afraid the prime minister no longer enjoys my support - I can no longer give him the benefit of the doubt."

Simmonds, who was elected in 2019, said Johnson had lost the confidence of the public.

As many as 126 fixed penalty notices were handed out for rule breaches, with the prime minister receiving a single fine for attending a birthday party in the Cabinet Room in June 2020.
