Flightradar24 reported a significant impact, indicating at least 245 departures delayed and 100 arrivals running behind schedule from the Delhi airport.

As of 12:30 pm local time, 73 outbound flights faced cancellation, with the average departure delay exceeding an hour.

The ongoing weather challenges contribute to the persisting disruptions, inconveniencing numerous travellers.

Adding to the tumult, a distressing incident unfolded on Sunday (Jan 14)&nbsp;as a passenger physically assaulted an IndiGo pilot due to further departure delays.

The accused passenger Sahil Kataria charged at co-captain Anup Kumar on the Delhi-Goa flight, leaping over a food trolley to physically assault him. A viral video captured the altercation, where Kataria was heard threatening to open the plane door if the flight did not proceed promptly.

The flight, reportedly delayed by over 10 hours, became a flashpoint for passenger frustration.

Adding to IndiGo's woes, a&nbsp;widely circulated video shows passengers of its flight bound for Delhi, reportedly diverted to Mumbai due to operational problems, sitting on the tarmac at Mumbai Airport, engaged in eating and waiting.&nbsp;

Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia, outlined the measures implemented to prevent the recurrence of comparable situations in the future.

"Yesterday, Delhi witnessed unprecedented fog wherein visibility fluctuated for several hours, and at times, dropped to zero between 5 AM to 9 AM," Scindia posted on X.

"The authorities, therefore, were compelled to enforce a shut-down of operations for some time even on CAT III runways (CAT III runways cannot handle Zero-Visibility operations). The decision was taken keeping passenger safety in mind, which remains the foremost priority for all in the aviation ecosystem," he added.

On March 22, India put a hold on all international flights to contain the virus, three days later on March 25, India imposed complete lockdown. The lockdown is to be lifted on May 17.&nbsp;

Ziebat's case was unlike other stranded passengers, he has a criminal record in Germany with many cases of assault and other criminal activities. The German embassy has refused to take custody of Edgard Ziebat because he was at a foreign location. Due to his criminal record, India has denied Ziebart a visa.&nbsp;

Ziebart stayed in the terminal with his only luggage, according to airport authorities the German spent his time by reading newspaper talking to his friends and family over the phone, eating a few of the fast-food outlets that are still in operating within the terminal, interacting with housekeeping and security staff, taking walks within the transit area, and using the airport’s washrooms and toilets.&nbsp;

Low-cost airlines IndiGo and SpiceJet are set to start their partial domestic operations from Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) Airport from September 5, the GMR-led Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said on Monday.

While Indigo will shift a portion of its operations from T2 to T3, SpiceJet will shift all of its domestic flights operating from T2 to T3.

Post the shift, SpiceJet flights SG 8000 to SG 8999 and IndiGo flights 6E 5000 to 6E 5999 will operate out of T3. IndiGo flights 6E 2000 to 6E 2999 will operate from T2. The operations of SpiceJet and IndiGo at T1 will continue as before.

"Shifting of some domestic flights of IndiGo and all SpiceJet flights from T2 to T3 will help in easing the pressure of fast-growing passenger traffic to carry out the capacity enhancement work of T2 effectively and efficiently," said DIAL`s Chief Operating Officer Videh Kumar Jaipuriar.

At present. GoAir fully and SpiceJet and IndiGo partially operate their respective domestic flights from T2 while Air India, Vistara and Air Asia India operate completely out of T3.

A total of 184 flights now operate from T3. With the proposed shifting, the number of flights at T3 will go up to 240 which include 24 IndiGo and 32 SpiceJet flights.

The move will result in a reduction of passenger load at T2 by up to 27 per cent which will enable the airport operator to enhance the passenger capacity of T2.

Post completion of capacity enhancement of T2, the terminal will be able to handle 18 million passengers per annum (MPPA), up from the current 15 MPPA. This will further enhance the passenger comfort and experience, DIAL said in a statement.&nbsp;
