Crops cultivated by farmers will be bought through women's unions in villages. He also announced that his government will soon come up with a new scheme for farmers. "The actual problem for farmers is the cost of the crop. A wonderful scheme has been created for it and will be implemented in the coming days," Mr Rao said.

The Telangana Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on December 7 to elect members from 119 constituencies. The counting of votes will take place on December 11.

He was forced into a position of contemplating leaving the party despite the fact that today TRS enjoys significant goodwill in the "social circles that we are in," Reddy said in the letter, shared with the media.

"I thought long and hard about this step before deciding to take this major decision and analysed the scenario by listing my disappointments at various levels," he said.

Reddy listed disappointments at five levels -- personal, injustice to karyakarthas (those) who worked for Telangana statehood, constituency, state and party -- in the letter.

"I fought for the party in 2014 when the party needed me. However, the party has induced people who were against Telangana and our ideology into the cabinet and given them more power and prominence.

I feel people who were fighting for Telangana and share a common ideology including me are no longer needed in the party," Reddy said.

He said he feels that the best possible path for him is to resign from the party as he is unable to acquiesce with the current scenario.

Reddy said he would also resign from the Lok Sabha. Reddy is a first time MP.

Monday being the last day for filing nomination, he was asked about the confusion with regard to seat adjustment among the alliance partners. There is also lack of clarity about the proposed common agenda.

Observing that firming up the alliance and reaching out to people with a common agenda has been delayed, which has hurt the coalition, he said the remaining 15 days leading up to the polling date (December seven) should be used for the purpose.

The common agenda has been prepared, he said.

When it was pointed out that any "friendly contests" among the alliance partners might hurt winning chances of their candidates, he said efforts to avoid such contests would continue.

"We have to avoid them (friendly contests). One or two may be unavoidable but they should go. Those efforts will continue," he said.

Replying to a query, Kodandaram said he is not working for becoming deputy chief minister (in the event of the alliance coming to power) or any other post.

Hitting out at the "autocratic" rule of TRS, he said the TJS and its alliance parties are seeking a "democratic rule" in Telangana.

"It was very forcefully argued by him that I will lose. That is the reason why he wants to leave it to TDP. The basis for that is supposed to be his survey," he said.

However, an online poll by a TV channel gave him 68 per cent winning chances against his TRS rival, he said.

The denial of ticket to him sends out a wrong message to the rank and file that loyalty and contributions have no value and "all that matters is the personal agendas of these leaders", Reddy said.

He also alleged that the PCC leadership had misled the high command.

"I don't blame the Congress high command. Because of the constraint of time, elections in various states and the rallies and all that the Congress president is attending. Four-five states are going for polls," he said.

Reddy said he got a call from senior party leaders in Delhi and that he was on the way to airport to leave for the national capital.

Meanwhile, several other aspirants who failed to get tickets voiced their protest and some of them said they would form a front to contest the elections.

Congress sources said that a committee of party leaders would speak to those who were denied tickets.

Congress releases third list for Telangana Assembly polls

Differences on how to "treat" the Congress in electoral politics has once again kept the two Left parties -- the CPI(M) and CPI -- apart in the December 7 Assembly polls in Telangana.

The CPI is sailing with the Congress-led alliance, which also comprises the Telugu Desam Party, headed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS). 
 
The CPI(M) is leading the Bahujan Left Front (BLF), comprising 28 social groups and political parties.

The CPI(M) Telangana unit Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram told PTI Wednesday that the BLF is mulling to field its candidates in all the 119 assembly segments. It has already announced 70 nominees.

Veerabhadram, a former Lok Sabha member, termed CPI's move to have an electoral pact with the Congress as "wrong".

"We (CPI-M) have allied with the Congress and TDP for 30 years. Our experience was very bad. Our national party has already decided not to ally with the Congress at any cost", he said.

Veerabhadram said CPI-M's main target was to defeat the BJP, for which it wanted to mobilise "all secular votes. But in the name of that, we don't want to align with the Congress electorally".

According to him, since the formation of Telangana in 2014, these issues were discussed in the Left Coordination committee.

But "CPI's argument is that the TRS (the ruling party in Telangana) is very dangerous, and to defeat TRS, they are aligning with the Congress. We (CPI-M and CPI) differed".

He said the two parties basically differed on how to "treat" the Congress in electoral politics.

CPI National General Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy said the CPI(M) formed a front which his party did not agree to.

"Together with other parties, we (CPI) wanted to defeat BJP and TRS. But the Left alone cannot defeat. We feel that's the number one task in the present situation in the politics of the state (to defeat the BJP and TRS)", Reddy told PTI.

The YSR Congress Saturday decided not to contest the December 7 assembly elections in Telangana since its 'complete focus' is on the 2019 elections in Andhra Pradesh, its actual base.

A statement from the YSRC Central Committee late Saturday night said the decision not to contest the polls was taken since 'our complete focus' was on the 2019 general elections in Andhra Pradesh.

"Taking into account the happenings (in Telangana) in the last four and a half years, we have decided not to contest the elections in that state," the statement added.

The YSRC is fighting a do-or-die political battle in Andhra Pradesh and the 2019 elections are critical for its future.

Meanwhile, the Jana Sena Party said it would take a call on fighting the Telangana elections in a few days.

"There is some uncertainty in the party because of the mid-term elections in Telangana.

Had the elections been conducted as per schedule (in 2019), we wanted to contest 23 Assembly and three Lok Sabha seats," Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan said in Vijayawada.

Some candidates were eager to jump into the fray as independents and sought Jana Senas support, he said.

"We will deliberate all aspects and take a decision in a few days," he added.&nbsp;

Anti-BJP parties would meet in New Delhi on November 22 to create a common platform and chalk out their future course of action, TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Saturday.

Addressing a press meet after a meeting with Congress general secretary Ashok Gehlot who came here as an emissary of Rahul Gandhi at his riverfront residence here, the Telugu Desam President said the endeavour was to bring everybody on board to fight the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Naidu said he would meet West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on November 19 or 20.

"This is broadly anti-BJP platform. This is in the interest of the nation. Save democracy, save the nation and save the institutions..That is the agenda. That is the national agenda, an utmost important agenda," Naidu said.

The TDP chief had recently met former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, his Karnataka counterpart H D Kumaraswamy and DMK president M K Stalin as part of his efforts to forge a front against the BJP.

"Now I have convinced everybody. Everybody is willing to cooperate with us. In this experiment, Congress is the main opposition party. They have more responsibility. We have to acknowledge that," Naidu said.

The New Delhi meeting would decide on "how to move forward" and also "build an organisational structure" for the anti-BJP platform, he added.

Naidu said he had already met several leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Farooq Abdullah and others, and would meet Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Replying to questions, he said there were only "two platforms" in the country BJP and anti-BJP.

"Political parties should decide which side they are. If they don't join us, it means they are with BJP," he said.

"The Tamil Nadu government is controlled by remote control (from New Delhi). Telangana Rashtra Samitis (TRS) agenda is BJP agenda. Some parties are there. They are aligned with the BJP," Naidu said.

While anti-BJP parties have their foundations in secularism and democracy, the BJP and RSS people have only the "mask of democracy" on their faces, he said.

"They dont have any faith in democracy. They are fascist...," Gehlot alleged.

Congress Thursday said the party has decided to leave 25 seats -- 14 to Telugu Desam Party, eight to Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) and three to CPI.

"We (alliance partners) had discussed that an approach of give and take should be there (in the alliance). There should be respectable arrangements.

What happpened now is against that.

But, our political motive is to dislodge the KCR government in Telangana," CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy told reporters.

Noting that his party had asked for at least five seats, he said it is "injustice" (towards his party) to give only three seats.

Venkat Reddy said his party has informed senior Congress leader K Jana Reddy about its complaint who promised to take it up with party high command.

The BJP's Telangana unit has sent proposals to its high command for organising three public meeting to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the forthcoming Assembly elections, the party's state president K Laxman said Thursday.

Speaking to reporters here, he said the partys national president Amit Shah is also expected to address a few more public meetings before the elections.

Polls will be held on December 7 for the Telangana Assembly.

"Arrangements are underway for three public meetings of Modi. Amit Shah is also expected once again. We requested the Prime Minister to participate at least in four meetings. Proposals have been sent for three meetings," Laxman said.

He claimed that the Congress-led grand alliance is marching towards "grand defeat" and the Amit Shah-led party is the only alternative to the people of Telangana for betterment.

"The grand alliance under the leadership of Congress is marching towards grand defeat. Parties with opposite ideologies are coming together and forging alliances. Congress and Kodandaram-led Telangana Jana Samithi are joining hands with Telugu Desam Party which is known as a betrayer of Telangana," Laxman told reporters.

Meanwhile, Yuva Telangana party leaders have met senior leaders of the BJP.

YTP president Jitta Balakrishna Reddy said his party had decided to work with the BJP for the Assembly polls.

When contacted, BJP Telangana's chief spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said Shah is expected to address five public meetings before the polls.

Party sources said the Telangana leaders submitted a list of probable candidates to Gandhi for his approval.

Reddy said discussions were held on the seat sharing and candidates and the final decision will be taken by Gandhi.

He also said the Congress chief has formally approved the alliance in the state.

On seat sharing, he said an agreement had been reached with TDP under which it would contest 14 seats. Discussions were still on with reagard to the seats to be allocated to the TJS and CPI, he added.

The ruling TRS party has announced 107 candidates so far while the Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM has declared nominees for eight seats. The latter was expected to declare candidates for another two or three seats shortly.

Dubbing TRS as a 'family outfit,' BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav on Wednesday said the K Chandrasekhar led-party was apprehensive of losing the assembly elections, had it been held along with the general elections in 2019.

Addressing BJP booth level workers at Armoor in Nizamabad district, he said people had given a five year mandate to the Chief Minister. But he 'gave up' in just four years.

"Now what is the guarantee that you (KCR) will not run away (if you come to power) after four years?" he asked.

"Why are we going for elections in four years? Because KCR is apprehensive that he will not win if the assembly elections are held along with Lok Sabha elections in 2019," he said.

Madhav alleged that the double bedroom housing scheme announced by the TRS government had become an unfulfilled promise.

He said the Modi government had taken the initiative of providing a house to every poor family in the country by 2022.

"The BJP government had promised five crore houses to the poor by 2022. This year we sanctioned one crore houses," he said.

Madhav said that on the health care front, the BJP government had launched the Ayushman Bharat scheme to provide quality and specialised health care facilities worth up to Rs five lakh to the poor.

On the one hand, Prime Minister Modi was trying to take the country forward, while on the other Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was trying to take the state backwards, he said.

"Telangana has achieved a record in corruption during the past four years. It occupies second position among the corrupt states in the country," he alleged

"Modi does not have a family, so there is no question of family rule.

But in Telangana, it is not only family rule, it is Beta (son), beti (daughter) and mai (me)," he charged.

Ram Madhav said TRS could get only a narrow margin of 63 seats (of 119 seats) during the 2014 elections despite bragging about achieving statehood.

BJP youth wing to organise national convention in poll-bound Telangana

Releasing its first list of 77 candidates for assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the BJP Saturday fielded Chief Minister Raman Singh from his traditional Rajnandgaon seat and dropped 14 incumbent MLAs in its bid to capture power in the state for a fourth straight term.

After a meeting of the BJP's Central Election Committee, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its president Amit Shah, the party also announced the names of 38 candidates for the election to the 119-member Telangana Assembly.

Names of 13 candidates, all Christians, have been also been declared for the polls to the 40-member Mizoram Assembly, Union minister J P Nadda said.

Chhattisgarh, along with Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, is ruled by the BJP out of the five poll-bound states. Chhattisgarh has 90 assembly seats and will be the first to go to the polls in two phases on November 12 and 20.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi will address two public meetings in Telangana on Saturday in the run-up to the December 7 assembly elections, party sources said Friday.

According to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee official spokesperson Shravan Dasoju, Rahul Gandhi would address a public meeting at Bhainsa town of Adilabad district and another one in Kamareddy.

"He will be coming to Bhainsa from from Nanded in Maharashtra. After the public meetings, he will be reaching Hyderabad and hoist the Congress flag near Charminar here and address the gathering on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra commemoration day," he said.

Former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh K Rosaiah will be conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra commemoration award, the party had earlier announced.

This is the Congress president's first visit after the Election Commission announced the schedule for the Assembly polls in the state.

Nearly 190 names of suspected Rohingyas have appeared in the voters list and the process of verification and deletion is on, a senior official of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said Tuesday.

"We have received the list from the Election Commission with nearly 190 names of Rohingyas living in Telangana to be verified. We have sent the list to Returning Officers (RO) and Assistant ROs to verify," the official told PTI.

The official said the deletion of such names from the voters list is underway.

"So far, we have deleted 25 names from the voters list. The process is going on. Balance will be done before the second supplement list of voters comes," the official said.

According to the official, some of the names figured in other constituencies near the city and the list was sent to the respective districts for verification and deletion of names if required.

There are as many as 39.60 lakh voters in GHMC limits as per the latest list.

There were about 3,600 Rohingyas, who are UNHCR card holders in the city and most of them are illiterates.

"Whoever lives in the camp were not willing to go back as they fear for their lives," sources related to the Rohingya camp in old city area had earlier said.

"The names of the Rohingyas have been deleted by obtaining Form 7, (related to the deletion of name from voters list) from them. After that they were given a seven-day notice for the removal of the name," the official added.

Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Electoral officer Rajat Kumar said there are Election Commission (EC) guidelines specially for them not to include in the voters list, once the immigrants are identified.

"The Home Secretary has come out with a list of Rohingyas to be verified," the CEO said.

Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims, described by the United Nations as the most persecuted minority in the world, fled their homes in 2017 to escape an alleged crackdown by the Myanmar Army.

In 2017, the central government told Parliament that more than 14,000 Rohingyas, registered with the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, stay in India.

However, aid agencies estimate there are about 40,000 Rohingya people in the country.

Dismissing ruling Telangana Rashtra samithi's (TRS) criticism that TDP was an "Andhra party," the state unit of the party has said it was founded by late N T&nbsp; Rama Rao in the city, in the heart of Telangana.

TDP has allied with Congress, CPI and TJS to form a "grand alliance" for the December 7 Legislative Assembly polls in Telangana.

Asked about TRS criticism against TDP for allying with Congress as NT Rama Rao had formed the party on anti-Congress plank, Ramana said there has been a change in the policies and ideology of the Congress and also in circumstances since TDP was formed (in 1982).

Alleging that ruling TRS has led an even more undemocratic rule in Telangana (than Congress did when TDP was formed) and ignored the poor, he said TDP, Congress, CPI and Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) have come together to defeat the "family rule" of TRS.

"The aim of the alliance is to work from a people's angle, to realise the aspirations of martyrs (those who sacrificed life in support of separate Telangana)," Ramana said.

"Though TDP is in opposition in Telangana for the third time, it is still strong on the back of its cadre strength (with substantial membership)", he claimed.

"We have (party) committees up to village level. It is only TDP in the state which has such strong (network). In the interest of development and seeking a democratic rule in Telangana, we have gone for grand alliance comprising Congress, TDP, CPI and TJS. We will strive for victory and (I have) confidence that (grand alliance) government will come," he added.

TDP won 15 assembly segments (out of 119) and a Lok Sabha seat in Telangana in the 2014 elections.

However, 12 out of the 15 MLAs switched over to ruling TRS which has considerably weakened the party.

TDP maintains that its core strength of workers remained intact though leaders have deserted the party.

The partners of "grand alliance" are in talks to clinch a Common Minimum Programme and the seat-sharing among them, he noted.

Asked if the alliance of opposition parties would extend to Lok Sabha election as well, he said the parties have decided to move ahead with coordination and in a spirit of give and take, hoping that the spirit would continue among them.&nbsp;

The BJP in its manifesto for the December 7 assembly elections in Telangana, has proposed to regulate the sale of liquor, claiming that its unrestricted availability and consumption was leading to several social and law and order problems in the state.

In the manifesto, which would be formally released soon, the party proposes to restrict the sale of liquor to five days a week.

"Sale of liquor will be regulated to five days only. Every day, timings will be maintained.. After 6 (PM), no wine shop or bar will be open," BJP's manifesto committee chairman NVSS Prabhakar told PTI Sunday.

The TRS government in Telangana and the governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh have seen sale of liquor only as a source of income, Prabhakar, who was MLA in the recently dissolved Telangana Legislative Assembly, alleged.

The consumption of liquor is leading to various problems, including atrocities against women, suicides and law and order problems, he claimed.

The manifesto also promises cancellation of surcharge fares by state-run Road Transort Corporation (RTC) buses during fesival seasons and free transportation to those taking up 'Deeksha' (religious code of behaviour) for visiting temples, including Sabarimala, Prabhakar said.

Noting that the state government imposed heavy VAT on petrol and diesel, the manifesto proposes total waiver of the tax on petrol and diesel.

Consequently, the price of fuel per litre may come down by Rs 20, he said.

Youth who appear for competitive exams would be provided free online and offline coaching, he said.

Another important promise the provision of safe drinking water for Rs six per month per household.

"The provision of such minimum facilities should not be viewed like a profit-loss proposition. They should be seen as a source of income," Prabhakar said.

Telangana polls: BJP manifesto proposes to regulate liquor sale

The Election Commission of India (EC) has extended the date for the final publication of electoral rolls in Telangana from October 8 to October 12, state Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar has said.

On September 8, the EC had stopped all activities relating to the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls with reference to January 1, 2019, and said the final electoral rolls list would be published on October 8.

The decision for a revised schedule was taken in the wake of dissolution of the Telangana Assembly on September 6, officials had earlier said.

The EC had also ordered the second Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to January 1, 2018, as the qualifying date in the state.

The Election Commission announced on Saturday that assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana would be held between November 12 and December 7.

Counting of votes in all the states would be taken up on December 11, it said.

Polling in Rajasthan and Telangana will be held on December 7.

Rajat Kumar said on Saturday that the Telangana Assembly polls would be completed in a single phase. He said in an official release that all sections of the Model Code of Conduct was now in force across the state.
