A fresh political controversy has erupted in Telangana after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accused the opposition of allegedly using occult practices and black magic to discredit his government.

Speaking at a public gathering, the chief minister made the sensational allegation without naming BRS leader T. Harish Rao, while questioning his reported visits to temples in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Revanth Reddy alleged that opposition leaders were involved in “Aghora pujas” and black magic, claiming that such practices had allegedly been carried out for years in neighbouring states.

The remarks triggered a sharp response from the BRS, with party leader K. Sanjay accusing the chief minister of attempting to divert attention from what he described as unfulfilled promises involving jobs, farmer relief and development projects.

However, the government assured that the total working hours in a week would remain unchanged for the workers who would now have the option to work for four days in a week and avail of three days of leave.&nbsp;Furthermore, several countries are experimenting with or have adopted a four-day workweek.&nbsp;

A formal letter from state official Jayesh Ranjan to Dr. Priti Adani, chairperson of the Adani Foundation, acknowledged the pledge but confirmed the rejection. The letter stated, “We have so far not asked any donors for physical transfer of funds since the university had not received IT exemption under Section 80G. Though this exemption order has now come recently, I have been instructed by the Hon'ble Chief Minister not to seek transfer of funds in view of the present circumstances and arising controversies.”&nbsp;

Telangana government declines $11.8 million Adani donation for Young India Skills University

&nbsp;The Telangana government Friday proposed to waive all agriculture term loans up to Rs 1 lakh outstanding as on December 11, 2018.

"Towards this, an amount of Rs 6,000 crore is proposed," Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who also holds the finance portfolio, said while presenting the vote-on-account budget for 2019-20 in the legislative assembly.

He noted that his party, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), had promised the loan waiver before the December 7, 2018 assembly elections.

The budget reflected the major electoral promises made by TRS, with thrust on welfare schemes.

Under the investment support scheme 'Rythu Bandhu', the government is currently extending support of Rs 4,000 per acre per crop season amounting to Rs 8,000 per annum.

"I propose to increase this support to Rs 5,000 per acre per crop. The total support in a year will be Rs 10,000 per acre," Rao said.

To redeem another election promise, the government proposed to introduce unemployment allowance of Rs 3,016 per month to the eligible.

"The details of the scheme are being worked out," he added.

The 'Aasara' pensions, covering the aged, widows, single women, beedi workers, people suffering from filariasis, handloom workers and toddy-tappers, are proposed to be increased from Rs 1,000 per month to Rs 2,016.

"For differently-abled persons, I propose to increase their monthly pension from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,016," the Chief Minister said.&nbsp;

Before this only seven categories blindness, low vision, locomotive disability, hearing impairment, mental retardation, mental illness and leprosy were covered under disabled welfare.

But from now on people with conditions such as cerebral palsy, dwarfism, muscular dystrophy, specific learning disabilities, deafness, autism, spectrum disorder, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson&#39;s disease, haemophilia, thalassemia, sickle cell disease, multiple disabilities (conditions of any two disabilities or more) and acid attack survivors, will be given benefits under disabled welfare, Telangana Today reported.

Some of the benefits that they will receive include pre and post-matric scholarships, economic rehabilitation scheme, marriage incentive schemes and pensions.

Another noticeable thing is that the most states consider a person for the PwDs pension only if he/she has more than 80% disability but in Telangana, the government has been giving pensions to disabled persons irrespective of their age and extent of their disability.
