LinkedIn released a document in which they have highlighted the country's evolving work culture: "The jobs landscape in India is evolving. While manufacturing giants are planning to hire more women in traditionally male-dominated roles, companies across India Inc are now focusing on skills when hiring."

Further added, "LinkedIn data shows that 70% of the skills used in most jobs will change in the next five years, indicating that more shifts are yet to come. In fact, over half the professionals globally say that they are open to pivoting into a new role or industry, and a quarter plan to learn new skills to make it happen."
The list released has been collated using LinkedIn's data and methodology that evaluates companies based on certain parameters like upskilling for employees, timely promotions, low attrition rate, and more. "To be eligible, companies must have had 5,000 or more global employees with at least 500 in India as of December 31, 2024. Attrition can be no higher than 10% over the methodology time period, based on LinkedIn data. Similarly, organisations that have had layoffs of 10% or more of their workforce based on corporate announcements or public, reliable sources between January 1, 2024 and the list launch, are not eligible."

This marks the third consecutive year that TCS has achieved this prestigious title, underlining its unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in the information technology sector.<o:p></o:p>

According to the latest Brand Finance report, TCS's brand value surged to an impressive USD 49.7 billion, reflecting a remarkable increase of 16 per cent from the previous year. This growth not only highlights TCS's robust market presence but also its strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing customer engagement and driving technological advancements.

Further, India’s top 75 most valuable brands now have a combined value of $450.5 billion, marking a 19 per cent increase from last year. Brands across diverse business sectors fuelled this growth, with 54 brands boosting their brand value over the past year. This growth outpaces most other rankings globally and closely mirrors the 20 per cent increase seen in the global top 100 brands.

In addition to TCS, several other Indian brands have made significant strides in the Brand Finance rankings, with 17 brands, contributing 28 per cent of the ranking's overall brand value. HFDC Bank retains its position as India’s second most valuable brand. State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, and LIC also feature in the Top 10.

TCS, which stands for the tax collected at source, is paid by the buyer to the seller and is then deposited with the tax authorities. This is collected on specific goods/services.

TDS, which stands for the tax deducted at source, is the tax deducted by those making payments - in this case the employer - in advance for the payments to be made to you. The employer deducts TDS on the basis of the tax slab, the tax-exempted investments made by you and any other income.

Now, all the employees can claim the TCS paid by them to the employers and directly reduce the TDS amount to be deducted by the employer from the salary.&nbsp;

Also, if a refund is due because of the TCS, it will be adjusted against TDS on the income of the individual taxpayer.

<h2>In Mutual Funds</h2>

In the case of the mutual funds, the 20 per cent TDS which was charged on the repurchase of units by UTI (Unit Trusts of India) or mutual funds has been withdrawn.

Before October 1, 2024, 20 per cent TDS was levied on the mutual fund redemptions and this amount was deducted at the source before the rest of the money was transferred to the investor.

After October 1, 2024, the people investing in the mutual funds will not face any such deduction and the entire redemption amount, after deducting the expense ratio, will be credited to them. However, they will be required to pay capital gains tax on the profit made in their income tax return.

While removing TDS on the repurchase of units, the TDS on long-term capital gains, which is more than Rs. 1.25 lakh, has been increased from 10 per cent to 12.5 per cent.&nbsp;

Also, there has been an increase in the LTCG tax rate for all financial and non-financial assets from 10 per cent to 12.5 per cent. On some specific financial assets, the Higher Short-Term Capital Gains (STCG) tax has been revised from 15 per cent to 20 per cent.

So, it's not all good news for mutual fund investors, who may save some part of their pocket but are likely to lose part of their profits, especially if they have a large profit share.
