As per the report published in Globe and Mail, the suspected assailants were in Canada after the killing and remained under police surveillance. At least five people sustained injuries in a shooting Saturday night at a Los Angeles beach in San Pedro, according to the authorities. A gun buyback event was held earlier in the day by police and a city official a few kilometres from the beach.

Brady said that authorities were informed at around 7 pm that a friend had transported a fifth victim to the hospital.

According to authorities, one victim was in critical condition, while four of the wounded were in stable condition. All five are seeking medical attention in a nearby hospital. &nbsp;

We were told 4 people had been shot and the victims were being transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unclear. I am heading there now to assess the situation."

Five injured in shooting at Los Angeles beach, two suspects at large

Several suspects were arrested by the police in Peshawar, Pakistan as the investigation into the suicide bomb blast in the mosque, which killed more than 100 people, continues.

The police said that the chances of a bomber being able to evade security checks because of internal assistance cannot be ruled out completely.

This was the most deadly bombing in a decade which hit Peshawar, the north-western city of Pakistan, in which a few policemen were also killed, making it also the worst attack on Pakistan's security forces in recent history.

On Monday, a bomb blast took place in a mosque in which more than a hundred worshippers, who were present for noon prayers, were killed. The mosque was built for the police and their families who were living in a highly fortified area.

"We have found some excellent clues, and based on these clues we have made some major arrests," said Peshawar Police Chief Ijaz Khan while speaking to Reuters.

"We can't rule out internal assistance but since the investigation is still in progress, I will not be able to share more details,” he added. &nbsp;

The investigators, which include intelligence and counter-terrorism officials, are trying to decode how the suicide bomber breached the military and police checkpoints and entered into the self-contained police encampment, in which middle- and lower-ranking police personnel and their families were living.

The attackers detonated their bombs when they were confronted by guards outside the church.&nbsp;

The pressure cookers contained explosive materials and nails to increase their harm to victims, said Makassar city police chief Witnu Urip Laksana.&nbsp;

Police carried out DNA tests to determine the attackers' identities, Laksana said.&nbsp;

The couple were believed to have been members of Jemaah Anshorut Daulah, which has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and carried out a series of suicide bombings in Indonesia.&nbsp;

They included a 2016 Starbucks attack in Jakarta which killed four civilians and four militants, an attack on a bus terminal in the capital that killed three police officers and an attack on a church in Kalimantan that killed a 2-year-old girl a year later. Several other children suffered serious burns in the Kalimantan attack.&nbsp;

Indonesia's last major militant attack was in May 2018, when two families carried out suicide bombings on churches in Surabaya, killing a dozen people including two young girls whose parents involved them in one of the attacks. Chad's government on Monday denied allegations that 44 men who died in a prison in April were not Boko Haram jihadists but civilians who suffocated in a scorching, overcrowded cell.

The government of the semi-desert nation, insisted the prisoners were members of the Nigerian Islamist group that has staged attacks in several sub-Saharan countries.

On Saturday, the Chadian Convention for Human Rights (CTDDH),&nbsp;said the 58 men imprisoned were "farmers and villagers who were arbitrarily arrested ... on last-minute instructions."

The CTDDH said 44 of 58 prisoners died after being held in a windowless cell measuring 6 metres by 3 metres (19 feet by 10 feet).

Despite temperatures of more than 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit), they were not given food or water, it said.&nbsp;

But Justice Minister Djimet Arabi told AFP on Monday: "We will not give credence to a report that does not correspond to reality at all."&nbsp;

Officials at one point said the men had committed mass suicide and that traces of poison had been found in their bodies.

But the CTDDH said the Chadian authorities had committed several "exactions" and routinely executed Boko Haram suspects.

All the men were captured during a major army operation around Lake Chad launched by President Idriss Deby Itno early in April.

That operation came in response to the deaths of 98 Chadian soldiers in a March 23 attack on a base at Bohoma, in the Lake Chad marshlands -- the worst one-day loss their army has ever suffered.

The law enforcement agencies of Pakistan have arrested at least nine suspects in connection with the terrorist attack that killed 11 people at a hostel inside the Directorate of Agriculture Extension on University Road in Peshawar on Friday.

His case had been handed over to judicial authorities, it added, meaning he will face prosecution.
