In India, surgeons are using the cutting-edge Apple Vision Pro headset for Laparoscopic surgeries. Launched in February 2024 the Apple Vision Pro is designed for mixed reality experiences however it has found an unexpected application in the operating room. A team of Surgeons led by Dr R Parthasarathi at Gem Hospitals in India's Chennai have performed at least 30 laparoscopic surgeries using the features offered by Apple's latest wearable device.
