<p>Charlie, who was pursuing film studies at De Montford University in Leicester, was operated on for a respiratory infection,&nbsp;however, his family informed that during surgery he suffered a cardiac arrest as well as a mini-stroke and his heart stopped for nearly 25 minutes.</p>

<p>The 24-year-old sister of Charlie, Emily, said that doctors found Charlie had an enlarged heart, which is also called cardiomegaly, and this forces the heart to work harder than normal.</p>

<h2><strong>Doctors call the boy's survival a ‘miracle’ recovery</strong></h2>

<p>The doctors said that the boy is likely to have had the condition since his birth, however, it took "something like a respiratory infection" for it to present itself.</p>

<p>The boy spent nearly a week in induced coma and the doctors suspected that he may require an urgent organ transplant for his both kidneys and heart.</p>

<p>However, after a ‘miracle’ recovery, the boy is not likely to need such an organ transplant but he may still require a heart transplant at a "much later date", Emily said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Charlie, who is from Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire, flew back to the UK along with his parents and is now recovering at Northampton General Hospital, which is closer to home.&nbsp;</p>
