<p>They tried to escape but&nbsp;didn’t&nbsp;succeed. Later, during interrogation, Singh confessed that he&nbsp;was the owner of&nbsp;the plant and Malik used to supply spurious&nbsp;spices to the market.</p>

<p>Based on the interrogation, police raided another facility on Kali Ghata road in the same area, from where a third person&nbsp;was arrested, named Sarfaraz. Police caught him red-handed&nbsp;making&nbsp;adulterated spices.</p>

<p>The recoveries included rotten leaves and rice, spoiled millets, wood dust, chilli heads, acids and oils used in producing counterfeit products, said Rakesh Paweriya, DCP (crime branch).</p>

<p>MDH, a popular Indian spice brand offering a wide range of ground spices widely used in India and around the world, has refuted&nbsp;claims of the presence of pesticide ethylene oxide in its products as&nbsp;"baseless" and "unsubstantiated".</p>

<p>The brand vehemently refuted these allegations in a statement released on Saturday (Apr 27) and&nbsp;assured its consumers of the absolute safety of its products.</p>

<p>"MDH reassures its buyers and customers about the safety and quality of all its products" the company noted while pointing out that it has not received any official communication from the food safety regulators in Hong Kong or Singapore regarding the matter.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, it was also found that pesticides were present in Everest Group's Fish Curry Masala. The ethylene oxide allegedly found in the spices has been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and increases the risk of breast cancer.</p>

<p>In the wake of the findings, action has been taken by both Hong Kong and Singapore to protect public health.&nbsp;</p>

And when you are just about to hit the bed, you read some food critic saying that Indian cuisine is based on 'one spice'. And you lose your sleep laughing incredulously. Indian food can make encyclopedias sweat if they try to describe each and every dish. And the spices may require volumes with their literally thousands of combinations. But Gene Weingarten, a food critic did not think so. In his article in Washington Post, Weingarten said that entire Indian cuisine was based on 'one spice'. He said that Indian food was just 'curry'. This most definitely set social media on fire. Weingarten was accused of being ignorant and even racist.
