An international aid organisation said Monday that a group of armed men had stormed their compound in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/us-seeks-to-re-evaluate-relationship-with-south-sudan-calls-back-ambassador-264515">northeastern South Sudan</a>, assaulting and injuring five staff members.

Relief International said the attack took place on Sunday in a field office in Upper Nile State.

"Multiple gunmen, armed with assault rifles, pistols and knives, invaded a staff compound. During this assault, five of our staff were assaulted and sustained injuries," the agency said in a statement.

"We have relocated our team to safety, and they are receiving all necessary care," said Nancy Wilson, Relief International Chief Executive Officer

"They endured a senseless act of violence in the course of their assignment providing life-saving care to the refugee community in Upper Nile State, South Sudan."

Humanitarian workers have been repeatedly targeted with at least 115 killed since the country plunged into conflict in December 2013 after President Salva Kiir accused his former deputy Riek Machar of plotting a coup against him.

The unrest has left nearly 400,000 dead and displaced millions.

A peace deal was signed in September last year and a ceasefire has largely held but efforts to form a power-sharing government have been repeatedly delayed.

The two C-17 military transport aircraft India sent on Thursday to Juba, the war-torn capital of South Sudan, to evacuate the more than 300 Indians stranded there are expected to land in Delhi at 10 am today. 
 
The aircraft will first make a three-hour refuelling stop at Entebbe in Uganda, sources said. From there, they will fly to Thiruvananthapuram in the Indian state of Kerala, and then on to the capital Delhi.&nbsp; 
 
External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj had, in a series of tweets, said yesterday: &quot;Indians in South Sudan - Pls move out. We have sent two aircrafts for you. If situation worsens, we will not be able to evacuate u.&quot;

An official advisory had said yesterday that only Indian nationals with valid Indian travel documents would be allowed to board, that they would be allowed to carry on a maximum of five kilograms of cabin baggage and no check-in pieces. 
 
Women and children would be accommodated on priority, it added. 
 
According to the ministry, there are some 600 Indians in South Sudan, 450 of them in Juba. 
 
So far, nearly 300 Indians have registered -- for the evacuation --&nbsp;with the Indian embassy, official sources said.

Rescue aircraft from South Sudan expected to land in Delhi at 10 am today

Germany and Italy said on Wednesday they were evacuating their nationals and other foreigners from South Sudan&nbsp;after intense fighting killed hundreds of people and forced tens of thousands to flee their homes. 
 
&quot;The government&#39;s crisis task force has decided to evacuate German, European and international citizens from South Sudan. The evacuation is ongoing and being carried out by air using German airforce planes,&quot; said German foreign ministry spokeswoman Sawsan Chebli. 
 
Around 100 German citizens were still in South Sudan, and those with German organisations would be given priority in the evacuation, said Chebli. 
 
Berlin would also help bring other foreigners to safety, the spokeswoman said, adding however that she could not give their nationalities for security reasons. 
 
Separately, Rome said an Italian military plane carrying 30 Italians and an unspecified number of other EU citizens departed on Wednesday morning for its base in Djibouti.
