<p>"Our understanding is that the cost of the boat was between $40 and $50 million, so the limit of the hull &amp; machinery policy was probably around those values," said Marcos Alvarez, managing director, of global financial institution ratings at Morningstar DBRS.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The P&amp;I policy would likely be "several multiples" of the hull policy, or $200-300 million, Alvarez added, noting it would also likely cover liability payments even if the captain or crew are found to be negligent.</p>

<p>Prosecutors in the town of Termini Imerese, near Palermo, are investigating the captain and two other crew members. An investigation does not imply guilt or mean formal charges will follow. Prosecutors have said the probe would take time and require salvaging the wreck.</p>

<p>Oscar Seikaly, CEO of broker NSI Insurance Group, which provides yacht insurance, estimated the hull value at $40-70 million but said P&amp;I cover might not total more than $100 million.</p>

<p>P&amp;I insurance would also cover recovery of the Bayesian, said Francesco Dubbioso, country manager for Italy for insurer Alta Signa Europe, who estimated the superyacht's value at $30 million to $40 million.</p>

<p>"We found the first five bodies in the first cabin on the left side, and the last body in the third cabin on the left side," he said.</p>

<p>Bayesian's emergency flare had gone up at 4:38 am (0238 GMT) on Monday morning, and the coastguard immediately deployed -- but when they got there, it had already sunk.</p>

<p>Contrary to previous reports, Raffaele Macauda, from the Sicilian coastguard, said there had been no storm warning that night.</p>

<p>The Italian coastguard, on Sunday (August 6) said that it recovered two bodies and rescued 57 people off the southern island of Lampedusa after two shipwrecks. Meanwhile, the United Nations’ migration agency citing survivors’ testimony said that as many as 30 migrants are missing.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>What do we know about the shipwrecks?</strong></h2>

<p>A report by Ansa news agency, citing survivors’ accounts, said that two migrant boats had set off from the Tunisian city of Sfax’s port and sank on Saturday on their way to Europe. According to the media report, one of the boats was carrying 48 people and the second 42.</p>

<p>The two victims were identified as a woman from Ivory Coast and her one-year-old child, as per Ansa. The Italian coastguard said that the survivors were found 46 kilometres south-west of Lampedusa.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per local media reports, at least 20 migrants had been stuck since Friday on a cliff after their boat crashed against rocks upon arrival in Lampedusa, however, the coastguard was unable to reach them via sea or helicopter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>NGO group Open Arms took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and said they were able to finally begin disembarking 195 rescued sea migrants in the southern Italian port of Brindisi after more than two days of sailing in rough seas.</p>

<p>This comes as the Italian government has adopted a policy that effectively assigns far-away ports to charity ships rather than letting them disembark rescued migrants in nearer Lampedusa or Sicily, in a bid to spread arrivals across the country.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The decision has since been criticised by NGOs who said that it increases their navigation costs, prolongs the misery of survivors, and reduces the amount of time charity ships can patrol the areas where shipwrecks are more common, reported Reuters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per reports, over 2,000 people arrived in Lampedusa in the last few days after being rescued at sea by Italian patrol boats and NGO groups.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The UN agency, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), said around 28 people were reported lost at sea by survivors on one boat, while three were reported missing from the second after both rickety iron boats went down in stormy weather on Saturday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Cultural mediators with the IOM believed there were “at least 30 people missing” after speaking to the survivors, press officer Flavio Di Giacomo told AFP.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A woman, who hails from California, United States, bought three abandoned houses in a small town in Italy for just $3.30 and is now busy renovating the properties, as per a report published by the New York Post.<br />
<br />
49-year-old Rubia Daniels became interested in the properties when she learned that they are being offered by the country at a low cost to repopulate deserted villages located in remote areas.</p>

<h2><strong>Steal deal</strong></h2>

<p>The three abandoned houses were bought by her in 2019. Daniels stated that she was left "amazed" by the idea and was curious to know if it was true.<br />

"I did my research, and within three days I had my plane ticket, a rental car, and the hotel, and I left," she said while speaking to Insider.<br />
<br />
The three empty properties were bought by the woman for only $1.10 each by the end of her 10-day tour to Mussomeli which is a small village in Sicily in July 2019.</p>

<p>The sale and purchase of abandoned properties were confirmed by a representative of Case 1 Euro, which was in charge of the Mussomeli housing development.<br />

The woman now has different plans for each of the three buildings which she owns in Mussomeli. Daniels said that she will use the first house for residential purposes whenever she visits the town.<br />

The second house will be converted by her into an art gallery so that she can "give back to the community" and the third property will be renovated into a wellness centre, which she considers as the "biggest renovation".<br />
<br />
The woman started the repair work of the abandoned houses in 2019 but the deadlines were pushed forwards because of the COVID-19 pandemic.<br />
<br />
At present, the renovation of the facade of the first two properties is almost completed. This is not the first case when a property has been purchased at such a low cost.&nbsp;</p>

The 900 abandoned houses listed by the town were located in some of its oldest parts. The majority of the 900 houses were dilapidated and hence, sold at a symbolic price of $1.20.<br />

The properties which were in better shape had a discounted price which started from €4,000 ($4329) to €5,000 ($4329). However, the new owners of the properties needed to finish the renovations within three years.</p>
